If only we drafted as well in Rounds 1-3
The Senator replied to SageAgainstTheMachine's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even Polian has had similar issues in the early rounds, of late. Go figure. Maybe we should trade our first 5 picks (rounds 1-4) this April for 15 or so picks in rounds 5-7 ??? -

Just out of curiosity, which schools were YOU ' way too stupid ' to attend? (I'm guessing the answer is all of them.) -

We will find out how important Lee Evans is
The Senator replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The kid from Kenmore Ave. looked pretty good If this group plays well the next 2 weeks, Evans will have a tough time earning that $1M roster bonus and $3M salary in 2011.) -
Dead silence, for one.

Looks like Leach landed in College Park,
The Senator replied to The Senator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With all the national exposure Leach is about to get in the Washington Post, Baltimore Sun, and USA Today (HQ-McLean, VA), I expect that w/in 2 years The Pirate will be replacing Shanahan as Redskins HC, rather than vying for major bowl berths. (But I disagree about the level of expectations in College Park - I think they expect Leach to return the Maryland program to the national prominence of the 1980s, and I'm guessing that's exactly what he'll do.) -

You'd think, if it really annoyed him, he'd just do what I did with him long ago - namely, put me on 'ignore'. But no such luck - I guess all the Herring Cove boys have gone South for the winter, and he's just bored 'til they get back. -

No doubt the 'skins were effed b4 ShineyMan got there - and it doesn't seem to be getting any better, or showing any sign thereof either. Which, BTW, is just fine - one a-hole (Snyfer) deserves another (Shanny). As for his time in Denver, things seemed to spiral downward pretty quickly after Elway and Terrell Davis disappeared - one could argue that Shanahan merely built on what he inherited, much like Seifert in EssEff, of Switzer in Dallas. -

Shanahan, and the horse he rode in on. First he ed up the Broncos (they sucked in the AFC's suckiest division), now he's ed up the Redskins. While I'm ecstatic that he was able to swindle idiot-owner Dan Synder out of $$$millions$$$, I was never a fan and never wanted him here in Buffalo. I was much more in favor of... Mike Leach -

We could use more cello players... Rinehart played high school football at Boone High School in Boone, Iowa, where he also played the cello in the school orchestra (link) -

The Senator replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Evans is still a deep threat, and it seems such a waste to just outright release a #13-overall pick. I'd like to see him stick around thru his ' contract year ' (he becomes a FA in 2013) unless Nix can somehow find some value in a draft-day deal. I've opined before that Evans suffers from a similar set of circumstances that affected Eric Moulds - multiple head coaches/offensive coordinators/QBs - no real, long-term, consistent #2 WR to keep opponents from double teaming him - and a team adrift for years with no clear direction as far as offensive strategy, game planning, or play-calling. I think Lee stays on - 6 WRs are not too many. (5 TEs are!) -
One of the more brilliant minds in American jurisprudence - along with, of course... Mike Leach

Still goin' strong, and still defying all actuarial tables... My diet and health regime is as follows: a healthy breakfast of coffee and cigarettes, a big lunch, sensible dinner. I don't snack. I don't eat Cheese Doodles. I don't eat Pringles and I'm not into desserts and sweats. I call it the Keith Richards exercise plan. Every day that Keith Richards sill walks this earth is a validation of my workout regimen. - Anthony Bourdain Happy Birthday, Keef!

Yes, that's what all the ersatz experts around here said. And you just know he'll carry a grudge against Miami - should be very entertaining... The pirate ship is sailing East...Leach was too risky for Miami or Florida, but he’s the exact type of risk a school like Maryland should take. He pisses people off, but he is a great coach. The ACC is a winnable league. If he can get the Air Raid rolling they will be competitive every year...It’s great for Maryland and great for the media. Leach made a national impact in a Texas backwater. Now the Washington Post will be covering him on a daily basis. We’ll now get a steady stream of oddity rather than sporadic glimpses. Pirate Invasion: Maryland Preparing to Hire Mike Leach as Head Coach Can't wait to see The Pirate run up the score on Shalala 'U' -
YOUR Buffalo Bills QB next season

Fitz all the way - unless Brohm steps in and looks even better! Until then, let's hear the Ol' Hahvahd cheer... Ryan, Ryan He's our man If he can't do it We'll hire some other large fellow to throw the ball for us! -
I see a national championship in Maryland's near future, and a decade of dominance in the ACC... Mike Leach Is New Maryland Football Coach, According To Report While disappointed that the Bills once again missed out on this offensive genius, I look forward to the Terps kicking ass (esp Shalala 'U') and setting new records in the ACC as Leach returns the Maryland program to the glory days of Bobby Ross, Boomer Esiason, and - of course - Frank Reich! Mike Leach "Likely" To Be Maryland's Next Football Coach Mike Leach to Maryland? Could this be bad for Arizona? Leach already calling recruits Guess you just can't keep a good man down! .

Just Chan being honest, and doing his job - a bit of motivational ' mind coaching ' and nothing more, if you ask me. (Of course, no one asked me.) CJ needs to know he's no longer a Clemson retired-jersey-number superstar, and that he needs to step up his game - more is expected of him in the NFL than just showing up and saying the right things. Now he knows.

I would grab Wisconsin TE Lance Kendricks in round 3, if he's still there... 2010 AFCA COACHES’ ALL-AMERICA TEAM: TE Lance Kendricks, Sr., Wisconsin, leads Wisconsin with 39 catches for 627 yards and five touchdowns. In addition, Kendricks has proven invaluable as a blocker for the Badgers’ high-powered rushing attack, which currently boasts three players with over 800 rushing yards and at least 13 rushing touchdowns. Kendricks ranks third among all FBS tight ends in receiving yards, is tied for sixth in touchdowns and is tied for seventh in receptions. Draft Scout Profile - Lance Kendricks The Senator's wish list goes something like... 1) Gabe Carimi, LT, Wisconsin 2) Dontay Moch, DE/OLB, Nevada 3) Lance Kandricks, TE, Wisconsin 4a) Owen Marecic, ILB/FB/ST, Stanford 4b) Sione Fua, DT, Stanford 5) Alex Henery, PK, Nebraska 6) Scott Tolzien, QB, Wisconsin 7) Greg Romeus, DE, Pitt And, of course, the Bills will draft none of these guys because Nix has a completely different (and better) list.
-
The first 3 are juniors - are any them even declaring for this April? (Nix has always stated a preference for more experienced, 4-year guys, anyway.) Dareus also had some NCAA investigation/suspension issues over accepted $$$ and attending an agent's party in Miami - which would raise some character issues to me. (A college sophomore taking gifts from/getting chummy with sports agents, and already thinking ahead to his big NFL payday?) Don't have a clue why anyone would want a Konrad Reuland (projected to be undrafted) in round 5 over a Lance Kendricks in round 3, or any of dozen or so higher rated tight ends available in rounds 5-7 Overall, The Senator would not be pleased with this draft. Bottom line, tho, is that he's still a deep threat (assuming there are no long-term lingering injury effects), and not likely to get you much in return on the trade-market. I'd like to see him stick around thru his ' contract year ' (he becomes a FA in 2013). -

Actually, there a quite a few - unless you're using his bank account as the sole measure. Otherwise, I really never even considered Sir Paul ' legendary ' at all - not even close. Just another aging pop star.
