Hard to imagine Derek Anderson making the roster
The Senator replied to Dan Darragh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Never said teams would be “knocking down the door”. No one was knocking down the door for Graham Harrell ‘til the Bills had injury problems, became desperate for QB help, and tried to sign him off GB’s practice squad. Things change, injuries happen. Like I said, if he has a great camp and shines in the preseason, some teams will take a second look. . -
When the Celtics drafted Bill Russell in 1956, Red had to go door-to-door in Wellesley to make sure it was OK with the neighbors if he moved there. Yes, they’re oh-so-liberal in Boston, until you try to buy the house next door. .

Just spoke with Jeff and Lori Jacobbi - Joe is closing the Sarasota place next week. Plans to concentrate on the Braedenton location and double it’s size. Plus, he’s helping his son open one back here in Boston Hills. .

Actually, it’s a terrible fit for Tyree. Unless he absolutely kills it in camp, he won’t make the cut. And if he sees preseason action and looks any good, he most certainly won’t clear waivers. He should have stayed at UB for his senior year, or tried to transfer to a bigger program. BTW, when you’re a college junior, moving expenses are mainly gas money. . -

That’s a valid argument, especially if Buffalo was his only option. A few years back, Green Bay hid Graham Harrell on the practice squad - Buffalo tried to sign him and Green Bay had to match our offer and sign him to their active roster. Love to have TJ here, either as 3rd QB or practice squad. We’ll see what happens. . -
I’ll tip an Ice Pick in your honor! Joe has his pizza dough and his wings shipped from the same Buffalo suppliers they use here. This one is in a former OTB, and doubles as my Bills/Sabres bar (9 TVs). .

Happy 46th Birthday to Joe in Winslow
The Senator replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
You are AARP-eligible at 50, so 70 is a LONG way off! HAPPY BELATED NATAL ANNIVERSARY, JOE!!! . -
I’m at Casa di Pizza right now, in Buffalo! Joe Jacobbi owns the one in Sarasota, and another one in Braedonton. He and his brothers Jim and Jeff owned the original one on Elmwood. Jeff and his wife Lori own the one I’m in right now. (Joe has a lot of stuff shipped there from Buffalo.) .

I don’t see that happening. I’m sure the Bills would love to hide him there, but I doubt he’d clear waivers. And even if he does, it won’t be long before someone claims him, and then the Bills will have to sign him to the active roster or lose him. The only way he stays is if he has a phenomenal camp and beats out Anderson for the 3rd spot, or Anderson retires. JMO . -
You haven’t been around here very long. .

Kliff Kingsbury does that. A first year NFL head coach with a failed record at Texas Tech. Fancies himself a ‘Quarterback Whisperer’ ‘cause he coached Johnny Manziel. (Oops, that’s now JOHN Manziel) Kingsbury is no Mike Leach. Murray will be the biggest #1 overall QB flop since Jamarcus Russell. JMHO. .

Rosen to the Dolphins makes me giddy, almost enough to offset my angst over the Christian Wilkins pick last nite. The two Josh’s, both from the same draft, facing off twice a year - one a future HOFer, the other a total douchebag? My gosh, I can’t wait! (BTW, IMHO Kingsbury just cut off his own d**k by drafting the tiniest NFL QB ever, who might still play baseball instead.) JMO. .

Jawaan Taylor??? Why is he still there?
The Senator replied to mrags's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My goodness, YE OLE, long time! I’m doing fine, hope all is well your way. Troupe was a Buddy Nix fiasco, yes? I think Beane has more GM competence than Donahoe, Brandon, Levy, Nix, and Whaley all combined! I’m just waiting to see what happens tonite, and if I can stay awake thru two rounds! Cheers, my friend ??? . -
Some will argue that yesterday’s Braves are indeed today’s Celtics. And if you follow that convoluted John Y. Brown triple franchise swap between the Celtics/Braves/Clippers, that argument is valid. So all you Celtics haters are rooting against the Buffalo Braves! Red was nothing but magical. When Walton failed his physical, Red charged into the hospital, cigar blazing, and - to summarize - said, “He’s fine, he passes...let’s get outa here...we got a game tonite!” (Walton’s spoiled punk son is in a world of doodoo.) .

Loved those Braves/Celtics games. We took ‘em to six games in the ‘74 playoffs. Used to see Dave Cowens all the time at Fenway. I had tix along the first base line in shallow right field, just behind the dugout. Cowens must have been a few rows back - always saw him in the aisle or the beer line. ?? (Very nice guy, very friendly.) .

When did “Defense End” become “Edge Rusher?”
The Senator replied to BillyWhiteShows's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ya know, it’s a quick question, but a darned good one. I think I need a refresher course myself. I know the difference between a halfback and fullback, but what’s a tailback? (Now, we just call all of ‘em RBs) Is there such a thing as a split end any longer? What’s the difference between an X receiver and a Y receiver, and a Z receiver? The game, and the schemes, and the terminology, are all much more complex than they used to be. . -
It would have been foolish to pass on Oliver, but I agree - we need to give Josh some targets, and better protection. .

One pick after Terrell Troupe! (Sorry to bring that up...again.) . -
Also played on the only Ohio State national championship team - with Jerry Lucas, Larry Siegfried, and Bobby Knight! (Yes, Yolo - Hondo was. Buckeye!) Celtics fans will appreciate this 1965 article about Havlicek’s famous steal in game 7 against Philadelphia (especially the video clip with legendary Johnny Most doing play-by-play).... https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/celtics/2019/04/25/read-will-mcdonough-game-story-from-night-john-havlicek-stole-the-ball/TugNU3V0UyV3kGVfhZ64bN/story.html RIP Hondo. .

Albright when asked where DK goes...
The Senator replied to *******'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’d prefer AJ Brown, but won’t slit my wrists if we get Metcalf. With those two WRs still available, along with OT Jawaan Taylor and TE Irv Smith, I’m pretty confident we’ll get one of them. .
