The only team that has a shot at Luck next season is the team he plays for now. Ryan Mallett may also choose to stay in school. I believe the Bills will beat New Jersey next week, and take Wisconsin LT Gabe Carimi with their first pick. Brohm and Fitz should compete for the starting QB position next season.

I want to see another quarterback competition next year
The Senator replied to PS 56's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
JMO, but the Bills need to see what Brian Brohm can do. I really really like Fitz, but have thought all season that he makes mistakes (fumbles, INTs, bad releases, tipped balls, etc.) at the most inopportune moments - usually with the game on the line, and usually ending a drive and costing the Bills the game. (Yesterday's performance was an anomaly - he sucked the entire game.) -
I wonder if Mallett will make the same choice, and stay another year? (That would certainly screw up everyone's mock-drafts! )
-
That's why he should he have asked me - I've known for months that Luck would stay for his senior year
-
Wow. That's such shocking news. (If King had would only have asked me, I could have told him the same thing 6 months ago.)

Yes. Indeed. It was particularly frustrating seeing our defense throw 3 interceptions and give away 4 fumbles, and for that DC George Edwards should be fired immediately!

I predict that Williams, Kelsay, Posluzny, and Moats will take care of 1 & 2, our secondary will take care of # 3, and the entire team will take care of # 4... GO BILLSSS!!!! Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam!!!!! -

Isn't is just absolutely amazing that such a BLATANT incident of OBVIOUS and CONTINUAL CHEATING was so quiet put to reat by Goodell and the league???!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntw7G7enxEk Belicheat* uses every opportunity he can - whether or not it falls outside the rules or code of fair sportmanship - to gain unfair advantage for the Cheatriettes*. Some call it good coaching - and they're entitled to their opinions - but I don't think Lombardi had to cheat to win. -

I think scoring about 25 more points should do the trick - a Boxing Day Brady*/Belicheat* beatdown blowout by Buffalo's Bills... BUFFTOWN 38 Cheatriettes* 13 Beat the Cheats*, baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! PosLUSZny!!!!! . -
Did you happen to check by whom? Link-Chris Faig's Sporstswriter's Profile A Senior at St. Thomas Aquinas College - Fan of the Florida Gators(Football), New York Jets, Seton Hall Basketball, and the New Jersey Nets - A Fan of all sports with Basketball and Football being the favorites. Any incompetent boob can trow together a mock-draft and post it on the 'net - many of the scouting reports and mock-drafts that find their way to TSW are actually written by 14-year-old (or younger) kids - yet folks post them here as if they've discovered something profound. This mock-draft is a perfect example - written by a college-senior/sports fan who has the Bills picking 3rd (even though were currently in the 6th spot and will probably draft in the 10th spot), and half the players in his round one are underclassmen that won't even be drafted until April 2012!

We have a LT and a capable QB
The Senator replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Of course you would - but has this injured junior TE, hampered by a bad hamstring and recovering from major surgery that caused him to miss most of this season, even declared for the 2011 draft? All indications are that he's returning to South Bend for his senior year. If the Bills go for a TE in this draft, Kendricks is the guy to grab - especially if he lasts 'til round 4 (I'd take him in the 3rd). -
I would not be at all upset with Ryan Mallett in round one - would love it even more if we could trade back into the first round and also grab Carimi with a mid-late round one pick. But, again, none of these mock-drafters seem to comprehend that Luck is returning to Stanford to finish his degree, and Mallett hasn't made his intentions clear at all regarding the 2011 draft. Bowers, Peterson, Quinn, and Fairley are also all underclassmen.

Besides what Promo said, half (16) of those guys are underclassmen (14 juniors/2 sophomores) - I guess the NFL is drafting them younger every year? (Or the kids that throw these mocks together don't bother to consider that most of those guys will return to college for another year.)

Oh. I thought this was going to be another one of those " I will be eating nothing but waffles in 2011 " threads Apparently waffle-tossing is taken quite seriously by our Northern neighbors... Leafs spectator arrested after waffle toss

Does anyone actually think the Bills will beat the Pats*
The Senator replied to Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hah! You mock me again, but I will have the last laugh when Moats knocks Marcia* Brady* out of the playoffs! (And again when Gabe Carimi suits up as the Bills LT next season - and your football-season repast of buffalo wings, beef-on-weck, and bourbon is replaced with beef brisket, matzah, and Manischewitz. ) GO BILLSSS!!!! 6 and 10, baby!!!!! . -

Just make sure you go to Russ's new place - Russell's Steaks, Chops, & More (and Salvatore's Grand Hotel) - over at Transit near Wherle, and not the tired, old, overdone place (Salvatore's Italian Gardens or the Garden Place Hotel) that his ingrate kid Joe took over! (I'd hate to see Joe's place get any additional benefit from his dad's latest largess!) Thanks, Russ!

I feel bad for Friedgen as well. That said, Leach's programs have always been clean and scandal-free (aside from the incident involving the ever-so-whiny Adam James and his even whinier daddy, Craig - himself a play-for-pay destroyer of programs from way back). Leach also placed huge emphasis on academics and had the highest graduation-rate of any public university Division 1 program... Leach is not some head-banging throwback. He's idiosyncratic and incurably outspoken, but nothing suggests he's a sadist or an idiot who would endanger a player. In fact, he is one of the more well-read and thoughtful men in the game, with a large curiosity and a law degree from Pepperdine. More importantly, he's a serious, demanding educator whose team has a graduation rate of 79 percent, eighth best in the country and first in the Big 12 Conference. He trails only Notre Dame (94 percent), Stanford (93), Boston College (92), Duke (92), Northwestern (92), Vanderbilt (91) and Wake Forest (83) in turning out grads, while he also has made nine bowl appearances in nine years. (Link - Texas Tech football coach Mike Leach deserves another look, and another chance - Sally Jenkins, Washington Post) In fact, one of my favorite Leach stories is another disciplinary incident involving their leading WR's reluctance to hit the books... Leach also has a penchant for creative forms of discipline, which has obviously led to his current trouble. Last spring he was unhappy with split end Edward Britton for not hitting the books. Leach demoted him during spring practice, and, to further make his point, had a desk placed on the 50-yard line. After practice he ordered Britton to sit at the desk and study, even though Lubbock was experiencing a cold snap. There Britton sat, in an overcoat and hood, reading at a desk in the middle of the football field. "If he does good studying out there, we'll decide if we're going to actually let him practice," Leach said. Some parents might object to that sort of treatment. Others might thank him. (Ibid.) Regarding the James incident - which raised no NCAA eyebrows, rankling only members of the James family (and Craig's ' extended ' family at ESPN) and Texas Tech officials still fuming over Leach's contract negotiations... Several current and former players have come forward to attest that he's a humane teacher. "Leach has unusual methods for doing things a lot of times, but he's never cruel and never out of line in doing them," former offensive lineman Cody Campbell told the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. It turns out the alleged torture chambers were an equipment garage and an auxiliary room, where injured players are often sent to rest or do calisthenics, and where James had access to trainers and ice. "It's not like its some dungeon," former lineman Glenn January said. (Ibid.) I know there are plenty of Leach-bashers out there - and I certainly understand that, given the frustration the guy has inflicted on Longhorns, Aggies, Sooners, etc., with lesser recruits and less-than half the funding of those programs. Don't really know why others express such vitriolic hatred for the guy, though, other than maybe they're just plain ignorant. But everything that you correctly point out as criteria for a successful NCAA football coach - clean program, graduating players, integrity, winning games, and bowl appearances - would indicate that Leach certainly should be a leading candidate for any major NCAA head coach opening. JMO. .

Interesting take - I'm guessing you think there's history of scandals and/or NCAA violations in the programs with which Leach has bee associated. Care to name one?

Moch Draft with Bills Picking at #12
The Senator replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jesus H. Christ, I just can't win here - some folks on TSW have been yelling at me that Moch's a ' huge reach ' with our 2nd-round spot! I liked him in round 3 in October - now I think if the Bills want him, they have to grab him earlier. He's the perfect pass-rushing DE/OLB for our D - hope we can get him in round 2... Link - NFL Draft Scout Profile Link-Nevada defense moves at Dontay Moch speed (USAToday) -
You are correct, sir. Apparently not a 'done deal ' quite yet - 1st-year AD Kevin Anderson needs to make it look like he's calling the shots and not wealthy alum/booster/Leach-pal Kevin Plank - they will make it look like they conducted a legitimate search before officially naming Leach HC first week in January. (I opined on this on the main board a few days ago - link)
