What Will Maybin Do After Football
The Senator replied to Bills99999's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You make sound points - certainly no one on this august forum has ever vacationed in the Caribbean, or dropped a wad of bills on Lundy's Lane But what really grinds my gears is the rap video - the freakin' nerve of that cocky guy! Just who the f*** does he think he is, this 21-year-old kid from Baltimore, spending a tiny bit of his $17 million fortune indulging a musical whimsy??? -
We can draft juniors before they leave school now? The NFL has no NBA-like ' Bird Collegiate Rule ' ??? .
-
I predict that the reunion of Louisville's standout center-QB combo of Wood/Brohm will result in a Bills blowout, and a new QB controversy in 2011! GO BILLSSS!!!! PosLUSZny!!!!! .
-
Nah, complete waste of time - just like a mock draft comprised of underclassmen, or being a Longhorns fan!
-
My pleasure! Enjoy your stay in the Big 12 cellar!
-
You should be ecstatic that he'll inflict no more humiliation on Texas! Then you should all set for the next few Longhorn seasons!
-
It's just semantics.

My thoughts on fixing/improving the DL - Round 2 - Dontay Moch, DE/OLB, Nevada Round 4a- Sione Fua, DT, Stanford Round 6 - Greg Romeus, DE, Pittsburgh
-
Indeed. Na Zdrowie!!!!

I do the same when I ' plateau ' (though I tend to play with a 30-40 pound yo-yo, something my heart doctor wants me to stop doing) - eliminating the non-nutritional calories from alcohol is about the most effective way to jump-start weight loss. This thread has inspired me - to take off the holiday pounds, I think I'll abstain until my birthday (Feb 1).
-
Guys tend to get hurt over the course of a 16 (or 18) game season - I see no problem in drafting even another big DT (maybe Stanford's Sione Fua ? ) in round 3 or 4.
-
Romeus had a season-ending ACL-tear his first game back after early-season his back injury - there's some talk of him petitioning the NCAA for another year or eligibility... Romeus Injury IMHO he'll be lucky to be drafted at all (back surgery last season, now torn ACL), but I'd burn a 6th or 7th round pick on him (a former 1st-round prospect) - that couldn't turn out any worse than, say, a Kyle Calloway.

What Will Maybin Do After Football
The Senator replied to Bills99999's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interesting comparison - I don't know his lifestyle but I'm guessing that getting a more-or-less ' average ' rookie contract and living in Buffalo (as opposed to getting a record-breaking deal in Toronto, then moving on to LA) tempers Maybin's spending habits compared to a showboat like like Ismail. -

U Maryland talked to Gus Malzahn
The Senator replied to Cynical's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well of course nothing's finalized until the ink is dry - and sometimes not even then (just Mike Haywood), but since Pitt seems to be looking for their 3rd head coach as many weeks, I expect Maryland will name leach HC tomorrow... Former Texas Tech quarterback Cody Hodges said that while Leach is not an easy guy to play for, he "never had a problem" with anything Leach did during his five years in Lubbock. "Coach Leach was someone I enjoyed playing for and if I was a high school kid now and I was being recruited, I would feel comfortable with coach Leach," said Hodges, who is a motivational speaker. "He expects greatness. Even as a redshirt quarterback when I was third or fourth string on scout team, he expected me to be great in practice." Hodges said that those expectations extended off the field. "It's not just on the football field, he expects you to be great off the field," Hodges said. "You are going to go to class, you are going to graduate. A lot of guys who didn't go to the next level (the NFL) have jobs and are successful off the field because of the expectations put on them while they were at Texas Tech." Former Texas Tech player and Leach assistant Lincoln Riley said that Maryland fans are in store for a thrill-a-minute offense if his former coach and boss comes to College Park. "When they reach down to grab their popcorn, they might miss two plays, they might miss a touchdown," said Riley, who now runs the offense as the coordinator at East Carolina, which Maryland beat last week in the Military Bowl. "It's fast-paced. The ball's in the air a lot. It's a very aggressive offense by nature. We're always kind of the attacker. People like to see you being aggressive and taking shots down the field." Riley recalls how the interest in Texas Tech football swelled under Leach. "They had to expand the stadium three times in 10 years," Riley said. Link - Leach would bring much promise but also reason for pause (Baltimore Sun) I don't see the Terps passing that up. Leach is the only guy they wanted, right from the get-go. -
Yes, that's it. Exactly. The only thing that's even more fun is laughing at loud-mouth Longhorn fans, pointing out how Texas sucks out loud, and taking immense joy in Oklahoma's OUTSTANDING season!!!!

I would stick with their diet blueberry, and vodka! (In moderation, of course!)

Yo...Chef. America's Cup heading your way in 2013
The Senator replied to Beerball's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I never even knew it was up for negotiation - I always thought the winners decided where they would defend the Cup. (Isn't that how Dennis Conner got it for San Diego, after Newport and the NYYC lost the Cup to Australia?) Seems that since Oracle's Larry Ellison spent all that money to win it, it's only natural that San Francisco should host the GGYC defense. Should be a helluva party in EssEff! -
Stranger things have certainly happened with Bills drafts, but I think with Nix we don;t have to worry about a DB or WR in round one! The Senator's wish list goes something like... 1) Gabe Carimi, LT, Wisconsin 2) Dontay Moch, DE/OLB, Nevada 3) Lance Kendricks, TE, Wisconsin 4a) Sione Fua, DT, Stanford 4b) Owen Marecic, ILB/FB/ST, Stanford 5) Alex Henery, K/P, Nebraska 6) Greg Romeus, DE, Pitt 7) Scott Tolzien, QB, Wisconsin I think the Bills have 5 TEs on the current roster, so I could certainly see going with ILB in round 3. Tolzien's just a guy I like, but doubt the Bills will (or should) go QB in late rounds - maybe grab another LB in round 6 and wait to see if Romeus is still there in round 7.

I do it every few months now - went all of October without, then had one beer on my Dad's 84th birthday (Halloween), then did it all over again until Thanksgiving - lost 30 pounds last year, and cutting back on alcohol played a huge part. But I will admit - while I don't miss the booze or the beer all that much, giving up the wine is a bit more of a sacrifice. Those 30 days will pass quickly. Good luck.

When it comes to drafting underclassmen, I won't - and I haven't, save for a few about Mallett (and a few about how dumb it is to go crazy over a Stanford red-shirt sophomore QB who's definitely returning to school this Fall). Some of the biggest wastes of time I've seen are the mock drafts comprised of almost 50% juniors, most of whom will stay in school for their senior seasons. Why fantasize now, when it'll all be clear after January 15th?
-
Despite the erroneous ramblings of a few erstaz wannabe scouts that Gabe Carimi's better suited to RT (and a few TSW posters that believe everything they read), Carimi will be an All-Pro NFL Left Tackle in 3 years or less. I hope it's with the Bills - and still think we'll take him in round one. He will not last into round two.
-
I disagree that TE is not a position of need - and besides his receiving ability, Kendricks is a big part of why Wisconsin has 3 RBs with over 800 yeards each. I think he'll go in the 3rd round, and would definitely be worth one of our round 4 picks if he's still there... 2010 AFCA COACHES’ ALL-AMERICA TEAM: TE Lance Kendricks, Sr., Wisconsin, leads Wisconsin with 39 catches for 627 yards and five touchdowns. In addition, Kendricks has proven invaluable as a blocker for the Badgers’ high-powered rushing attack, which currently boasts three players with over 800 rushing yards and at least 13 rushing touchdowns. Kendricks - Draft Scout Profile (For some strange reason I also like Badgers QB Scott Tolzien in round 7 - but don't think the Bills will take a QB in the late rounds this time.)

Pitt fires Mike Haywood after two weeks

I never thought of that! Oh well, the Panthers loss is Maryland's gain - some turtles are about to come out of their shells -

No doubt they are now kicking themselves for passing on... Mike Leach
