I thought Corey McIntyre was our power runner - but if we're to draft someone for that role, I want.. Owen Marecic We get 3 players in one - a FB/ILB that will excel on special teams as well. (We can probably get him with one of our 2 fourth-round picks.)

Leach making headlines again

Apparently, he cared so little that he came back to read the replies to his reply. -

Leach making headlines again
The Senator replied to Captain Caveman's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Yeah, already saw it earlier. Sounds like it was pervasive throughout the athletic program though - over 1000 ' illegal ' text messages to athletic recruits, of which 234 were associated with the football program. Surprised at 3 things - 1) That TT blew the whistle on themselves; 2) The timing - maybe TT is trying to influence public opinion in the final stages of Leach's lawsuit; 3) The former hoops coach Bobby Knight isn't involved! -
Tony Sparano sleeps with the fishes.

Coupons seem a bit small - I prefer old Jerry Sullivan columns.

The goal with draft day trades
The Senator replied to High Mark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We'll grab Mallett with the 3rd-overall pick this April, and he'll be our ' franchise QB ' in 2-3 years. Fitz will serve us well until then. Regarding trades and NE*, they* have a boatload of picks to play with this draft - I imagine *they'll somehow acquire the #1-overall pick (Andrew Luck) in next year's draft by trading picks and players to multiple crappy teams as this draft draws near. Sucks, but that's just the way it is. That's how they* do things, and the ball always seem to bounce right into their* arms. -
College Games This Weekend
The Senator replied to AReed Deep For 7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Too late??? Hell, you're 23 and have followed college FB for a few weeks now - you're an expert. You could put up your own 'Mock-Draft' web site! (JK - Thoner told you who to watch tonite, here's some info on Mondays BCS title game - link) -
As a Bills fan, always nice to see the Dolphins look stupid - like when they hired ' Mr. Isotoner ' as Sr. VP of Football Ops in 2004, only to have him quit 3 weeks later. They've made some pretty bone-headed moves the last few years, but this one - offering Harbaugh a $60M/8-year deal (and Harbaugh made them fly to him to present it and beg him for 8 hours ) while Sparano still has the HC job - looks really bush. (Not to mention that they either completely ignored or somehow thought they could circumvent the Rooney Rule.) Gotta love it! .

It would for me too, Metz. Until the Belicheat* era, I've always hated the Jets much more than NE* - Rex Ryan has breathed new life into my moribund hatred of that team from New Jersey. BTW - I will also pick the Jets to win on Saturday, but only because I want them to lose

with the 3rd pick in the NFL Draft.....
The Senator replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like that he has the Bills taking Mallett, but still don't understand why anyone gives any of the mocks any credibility whatsoever. First of all, they are all reacting and adjusting to the Luck decision - but Luck was NEVER going to be in the draft, so right there you know that these guys are all just speculating, taking wild guesses, giving you their ' wish list ' , or merely spewing out garbage to fill column-inches so they can sell advertising on a web site (or all of the preceding). Second, if you look at the background of the guys publishing these mocks, you'll discover that they are usually college students or recent grads (though some are written by junior high school kids) - maybe with a tiny bit of journalistic grunt work in their background, but usually not - and that their imaginary drafts are not grounded in any sort of valid research or scouting whatsoever. Third - and this has been a peeve of mine for months - most of these mocks are chock full of underclassmen, some of whom will be in this draft but most of whom will not, which renders the entire mock a farce that becomes invalid with every days news that one of the key draftees is staying in school. They are ALL a complete waste of time until next Friday - the deadline for underclassmen to enter this years draft - after which, only a few will be worth reading but most will still be a complete waste of time! JMO, of course. -
Another Mock (Post Luck Decision)

The Senator replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And this is the idiot that published that mock draft... Walter Cherepinsky Wally's World Just so you know - you'll gain no knowledge or insight from that moron, but you'll make him a little richer every time you click on his site (which is really all he cares about). -
Now you're talking - I'd LOVE to get Marecic. Been on my radar since September. A true two-way FB/ILB that you know will excel on special teams, too. NFL Draft Scout has him pegged in round 4... Marecic Probably would take the first of our 2 4th-round picks to get him. (I'd use our other 4th on his teammate DT Sione Fua.)

Shoulda guessed this was coming, after the Luck announcement... Andrew Luck is returning to Stanford for the 2011 season. Now the school’s president is doing his best to bring Jim Harbaugh back as Luck’s coach. (Link - Jim Harbaugh meets with Stanford president) Amazingly, after all this, Harbaugh may end up staying at Stanford

Bills attendance lowest since 1987

Ralph has always know that when the Bills win, the stadium is full. Therefore, this Fall, I say... 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam!!!!! . -
That would be a real coup (they have yet to fire HC Tony Sparano) - and a complete violation of the Rooney Rule (they haven't interviewed a single minority candidate).

Luck will not declare for the draft. Breaking news...
The Senator replied to dayman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just assumed that's 'cause Leinhart's a dumbass. But it still took Leinhart 5 years to learn the rhumba. Tebow, like Luck, is a fairly special individual - and I do realize there are many others like them, but I still maintain that the vast majority - maybe even overwhelming majority - are on 5-year academic plans that coincide with a red-shirt season and 4-years of playing eligibility. I'm very surprised to learn otherwise. -

Ha! Second-funniest post today. Now that his return to Stanford is officially confirmed and there's still the slimmest chance that the Bills could draft him in 2012, the ' All Luck, All the Time ' station will be on the air for at least another year. -

The Senator replied to dayman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm surprised to learn that - I always assumed the vast majority were on 5-year plans (or longer), the rigors of a Division 1-A program taking a lot of time away from academics, and that the vast majority of players with eligibility left were underclassmen coming out early. Again, I'm talking D-1A programs at major schools - and I guess I'm really referring to the guys entering the NFL. You're saying that it's fairly common that NFL players entering the draft as graduates still have a year of NCAA eligibility? (As The Dean might say, "I'd have to see the data.") -
I really thought he would - he even made Miami fly to him, rather than traveling to Miami himself - but the Dolphins are offering sooooo much $$$$$$ that the 49ers are backing away. Elway also wants to interview him for the Broncos, so I guess we'll have to stay tuned until tomorrow...
