  1. That's a funny name for an NFL QB, or anyone else. (Just say no to Blaine Gabbert.)
  2. Gotta love it... Will Cromartie's quotes affect how Brady prepares for and plays in Sunday's game? (Brady) "We’re going to do our talking on the field. That’s the way we choose to do it. At 7:30 on Sunday, that’s when everybody’ll be able to tell if it's played a role or not.” Oh, Antonio Cromartie. You poor, poor man. That last quote from Brady is about the worst-case scenario for you. Sunday would be a good day for you to have the game of your life, because if they get the chance, Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are going to make you a running joke on the NFL Network for the next 12 hours following the game. Link - Brady on Cromartie's filthy name-calling: 'I've been called worse' .
  3. They also have the #15 pick in this draft. Henne's due to get $550K this season - chump-change, really...far less than Ryan Fitzpatrick - and is a free agent in 2012. I would be shocked if the Dolphins did not pick a QB to replace him in this draft (or do it thru free-agency).
  4. 1) Huh? You on drugs? First you say Leach was out of work for a year, now you say he was out of work a lot longer than a year??? For the record, Leach was let go by Texas Tech just prior to their bowl game last season - he's been out of coaching for one season (but not out of work or out of football, as you mistakenly seem to think). Also, you're talkin' out your ass with with the ' Craig James having clout ' comment and the pros thinking that Leach is a joke, but I'll just guess that maybe you're a bit drunk 2) First you say the spread won't work in the pros, now you say ' well, OK it works in the pros - only Leach ain't got what it takes to run it in the pros. ' There's a huge difference between running ANYTHING (and everything) in college vs. pros - and neither you nor I know that ' Leach ain't got what it takes ' until he demonstrates that, one way or the other. (IOW, you're talkin' out your ass on that one too.) 3) Sparano already had ' one foot in the grave ' (and the other on a banana peel) when Ross openly flew to California to offer Jim Harbough Sparano's job in front of the entire football world. If Sparano was truly the ' stick-to-his guns ' non-compromising stalwart you deludedly believe, he would have told Ross to take a hike instead of continuing to endure the public humiliation of having his job offered to multiple HCs while he dangled in the wind for 2 weeks. You seriously don't believe Sparano agreed to each and every single condition Dolphins owner Steve Ross stipulated before giving Sparano a face-saving 2-year extension this week? Seriously??? BTW, Sparano's salary is approx. $2.8M/yr - don't know where the heck you got the $10M figure. (Out your ass, maybe?)
  5. FWIW - couple more tidbits... Why is everyone jonesing for the Wannstache? Let's take a look back at his NFL body of work. In his four years as defensive coordinator for the Cowboys, Wannstedt's defenses went from 20th to 10th to 17th to 1st in the league in yards allowed. Maybe his name isn't the first you think of when those Super Bowl-winning Cowboys teams are mentioned, but Wannstedt does have a ring. When he got to Miami, the defense became as formidable as his mouth brow. In all five of his years as head coach, his defense was ranked in the top ten in the league in yardage allowed, even in 2004, where he opened the season 1-8 and lost his job. Link - Dave Wannstedt has suddenly become a hot coaching commodity Link - Bills interested in aiding Wannstedt’s NFL Return
  6. 1) Gailey was out of work for a year. Now, he's not. 2) Tell Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, et al that spread offenses don't work in the NFL Link - Gators' spread offense catching on in the NFL The 'spread' is here, and becoming more prevalent in the NFL every season. Every team (even Buffalo) uses some sort of spread package from time to time, some more frequently, some almost exclusively. 3) Why whould Sparano do it? Dunno. Maybe to save his job??? Maybe 'cause his boss told him to??? Link - Miami Dolphins owner Steve Ross wants 'an aggressive, creative' offense - Dolphins coach Tony Sparano must replace two of his top offensive assistants
  7. Actually, it's less than 40 plays - more like 20... "There's two ways to make it more complex for the defense," Leach says. "One is to have a whole bunch of different plays, but that's no good because then the offense experiences as much complexity as the defense. Another is a small number of plays and run it out of lots of different formations." Leach prefers new formations. "That way, you don't have to teach a guy a new thing to do," he says. "You just have to teach him new places to stand." Texas Tech's offense has no playbook; Cody Hodges's wrist and Mike Leach's back pocket hold the only formal written records of what is widely regarded as one of the most intricate offenses ever to take a football field. The plays change too often, in response to the defense and the talents of the players on hand, to bother recording them. NY Times - Coach Leach Goes Deep
  8. That would be scary bad for Buffalo fans - if folks think the Bills 'D' is porous now, wait 'til the AirRaid starts Miami Dolphins owner Steve Ross craves an offense that matches his South Florida fan base, one that's lively and possesses as much punch as a shot of Cuban coffee. "I want an aggressive, creative [offense], not playing just to keep it close," Ross said during a radio interview with WINZ, the team's flagship station. "A little more unpredictable in opening it up. That's what I think South Florida wants, and that's what this climate demands." "We have one great advantage in South Florida as the Dolphins that other teams don't have, and that's the weather in August, September and October," Ross said. "Our players train in that weather. Let's take advantage of it. Let's go with a hurry-up offense. Let's wear them down. We've never done that. "This isn't the North, where you want to just take it four yards and a cloud of dust, you know?" Ross said. "I think [i'm looking] for a different brand. The Dolphins how fans want to see it, how we win and we're going downfield [like] the days of Dan Marino, the days we all want to go back to." 9. Ah yes, I remember it well...
  10. Future Pro Bowl WR, no doubt - expect the ground to start shaking in B-more next season!
  11. A Fairley enough opinion, not one I'm inclined to disagree with either. Haven't seen Liuget play at all but was thinking may be worth a look in round 2. Also like Stanford's Sione Fua on day 3 (rounds 4 and up).
  12. He was almost like a human, only bigger.
  13. Ditto on the happy Carimi dance - only way to get him is huge reach at #3 spot or trade back into round one, IMO.
  14. Yes, of course. My bad. Off by a season. (They all seem to blend together, lately.) As I recall now, Jauron tried to retain LeBeau - but Lebeau told him to off !!!
  15. Corey Liuget, a second-team All-Big Ten pick in 2010, is projected as a first-round pick by NFLDraftScout.com, which ranked Liuget as the No. 4 defensive tackle among underclassmen. He's currently slotted behind Nick Fairley (Auburn), Marcell Dareus (Alabama) and Muhammad Wilkerson (Temple). "Corey Liuget has stepped up and really done a great job," coach Ron Zook said. He was unblockable at times: witness his five QB hurries vs. Indiana and 11 tackles against Michigan State -- and he'll get a lot of attention for his career-capping showing in the bowl victory against Baylor -- five tackles, one sack. For the season, he had 12.5 tackles for loss among his 63 tackles this season, plus 4.5 sacks and 10 quarterback hurries. In fact, he led Illinois in sacks, tackles for loss and hurries. 16. That's a brilliant guess... Link - Bills Schedule 2011 thru 2017
  17. The tougher they are, the harder they fall - or something along those lines... 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! Reverse the Curse!!!!!
  18. It wasn't so much that I didn't want Luck as much as I always knew he was going to return to Stanford to complete his degree. (But I did - and still do - want to see if Luck can maintain this year's performance level next season.) I also didn't think we'd be drafting 3rd overall - thought we'd be around #8 to #10 spot - but I'd probably still go with Ryab Mallett at #3.
  19. I do not want Cam Newton under any circumstances. At least, not in this draft. Cam Newton Suffers Back Injury: NFL Draft Status in Question?
  20. Much as I hate the NJ Jets, Buddy Ryan v.2, and Antonio Cromartie, he's right about Brady* (That said, I'll still cheer for NE* over NJ - that's how much I hate the Jets.)
  21. Well! Normally I would advise to temper such hope with caution, wait to see how the draft turns out, and get a look at a preseason game or or two before getting too overly optimistic - but if C.J. Spiller actually said that, I have only one thing to add... 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! PosLUSZny!!!!! .
  22. Probably, but the draft is still over 3 months out - certainly I'd first want to see how Mallet does at the scouting combine, Wonderlic test, all that crap - and I'm sure Buddy Nix will be interviewing him now that he's officially declared and it's ' legal ' to talk to him. Also need to see who declares for the draft between now and Friday. (Newton??? Fairley???) .
  23. One thing we know is that, with the Bills, anything can happen on draft day. That said, this is from Allen Wilson's article in the Buffalo News Bills season post-mortem series... Outlook: Wide receiver should be low on the offseason priority list. The top seven return as will Marcus Easley, who impressed before a knee injury in training camp ended his rookie year. The newfound depth has some people believing Evans should be traded. Gailey said an Evans trade is unlikely, but added, "I'm not gonna say anything's impossible." Getting rid of Evans would be risky because there's no guarantee the young receivers will duplicate this season's performance, and none of the other receivers can make defenses respect the deep ball like Evans. Link - Receivers catching on quickly
  24. FWIW - If early reports by ESPN's Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen are accurate, former Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears coach Dave Wannstedt could be returning to the AFC East on the same staff as Buffalo Bills coach Chan Gailey, only this time Wannstedt will be the assistant and Gailey will be the man in charge. Link - Dave Wannstedt and Chan Gailey May Reunite in Buffalo From local TV reports, sounds like DW would be ass't HC running the D, similar to the role DW had in Miami under JJ, and much like Dick LeBeau's Buffalo role under Jauron. (Gailey was Wannstadt's OC in Miami.) (BTW - if this does happen, I would look for the Bills to draft injured Pitt DE Greg Romeus in the late rounds. Romeus is a favorite of Wannstadt, and was projected as a round one pick before tearing his ACL.)
