  1. Thanks for your insight into the Patriots thoughts 19 years ago. Gosh, NE ‘took a flier’ on Brady in round 6? After passing on 5 other QBs? What else are you pretty sure of? (Brady was the 6th QB taken in 2000, there were 5 QBs picked after him.) Calling Brady a monumental fluke is just ignorant. The 2000 draft was not ripe with QBs - of the 11 drafted, the only other one of note besides Brady was Marc Bulger, also taken in round 6, before Brady. First QB drafted that year was Giovanni Carmazzi, in round 3. Remember him? (Didn’t think so - probably the only other QB anyone remembers from that year is UDFA Billy Volek.) Every once in a while, a GM knows exactly what he’s doing, and gets a Tom Brady instead of Jamarcus Russell. .
  2. Fair enough. I understand. Just pointing out that D.K. Metcalf was #1 on Cherepinsky’s list, ahead of 5 others WRs that were picked before Metcalf. .
  3. No, but my walls, desk, shelves, closet, and drawers probably have more Big Red gear than his! .
  4. Not for nothin’, but aren’t those the two guys Jussie Smollette hired? .
  5. Ah yes, the Brady argument, once again. Why not bring up Kurt Warner? Warren Moon? Brady carried Brian Griese’s jock strap at Michigan - that’s why no one saw what NE saw. Vis-a-vis Metcalf, EVERYONE (‘cept the Seahawks) know what they didn’t see. I sincerely don’t know if you’re just being sarcastic or cynical, but if you’re comparing lame, unproductive, fragile, injury-prone Metcalf to GOAT, please take an antidote. .
  6. I have a bachelors and a doctorate from Cornell, and have absolutely no f**king idea what you just said...
  7. You just about covered it all. vis-a-vis Metcalf. ?? (Only thing you omitted was inconsistent hands.) EDIT: My bad, you did cover that. .
  8. Actually, those are all receiving TDs. As you accurately point out, Ole’ Miss didn’t use him that way, and I really didn’t feel I needed to make the distinction, since 0 rushing yards = 0 rushing TDs. EDIT: Maybe I could have been clearer if I wrote ‘RUSHING YDS’ rather than simply ‘RUSHING’. My bad. Too many keystrokes, and my fingers were getting tired. .
  9. Yes, I have, several in fact. Mostly playing sports, none so violent as NFL football. Jury’s out on that one. Ford broke his fibula in his red-shirt freshman season. Came back and played two more seasons. Metcalf broke his neck as a red-shirt sophomore, then, with quite unimpressive stats, declared for the NFL draft. (Eric Woods immediately retired after a neck injury, so maybe add stupid to Metcalf’s long list of shortcomings.) .
  10. Or is he just fragile and injury prone? We’ll see. Violent game? It gets a lot more violent in the NFL than the SEC. Yes, we’ll see. .
  11. Broken foot 2 games into his freshman season, and broken neck 7 games into his red-shirt sophomore season. Yes, we’ll see. .
  12. Um, he’s not that good, and I’d have been anything but ecstatic. Dude runs a straight line really really fast, can’t do much else. Less than 2 full seasons of college ball (actually, 21 games in 3 years), unimpressive numbers, fragile and injury prone. No wonder every NFL GM passed on him at least twice, til Seattle at #64. .
  13. I love you, BB, but if you really take Walter Cherepinsky seriously... https://walterfootball.com/draft2019WR.php Walter Cherepinsky...
  14. I think they’ll keep more than 3 RBs, but wouldn’t Dimarco be odd-man out? You can always plug a TE or quick, agile lineman in for the few times you use a fullback, and get the same or better production. JMO .
  15. Mike Leach? JK. After last week, I firmly Bill-ieve... 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!! ???
  16. No sh*t. Thanks for that helpful info. Since you like to take totals and divide them, then multiply by other hypothetical numbers, Metcalf played 21 games in 3 seasons. Take his total production, divide by 21 games, and what do you come up with? I’ll help you -1217 yards. Divide by 21 games - 58 yards per game (I was generous and rounded up). Now multiply 58 yards per game by 16 games (your formula). Doesn’t give you 1,000 yards, does it? And he only lasted the full 12 games once in 3 seasons, so to think he’ll last 16 in the NFL is, well, ludicrous. .
  17. Did I not mention “injury prone”? Guy has never played a 16 game season, and only lasted 12 games once in 3 years, so taking his two year totals, dividing them by his two year total number of games to extrapolate a per-game average, then multiplying that number by 16 games to come up with numbers to support your erroneous supposition is, well, ridiculous. (I noticed you left out Metcalf’s two-game freshman season and his two yards total production - how would adding two games, two total yards, and zero TDs skew your fuzzy math?) .
  18. Here are Metcalf’s actual stats... 2016: GP-2, REC YDS- 2, RUSHING-0, TDS-0 2017: GP- 12, REC YDS-646, RUSHING-0, TDS-7 2018: GP-7, REC YDS-569, RUSHING-0, TDS-5 Runs real fast in a straight line, but less than 2 full seasons of college ball, unimpressive production, and apparently fragile and injury prone. I’m glad Beane passed, twice, as did everyone else until Seattle finally took him at #64. .
  19. So your not happy about David Sills V? You don’t think Robert Foster turned out well? .
  20. No, he actually didn’t. If you torture the numbers long enough, they’ll confess to anything you want. Here are Metcalf’s actual stats... 2016: GP-2, REC YDS- 2, RUSHING-0, TDS-0 2017: GP- 12, REC YDS-646, RUSHING-0, TDS-7 2018: GP-7, REC YDS-569, RUSHING-0, TDS-5 Less than 2 full seasons of college ball, unimpressive production, and apparently fragile and injury prone. I’m glad Beane passed, twice, as did everyone else until Seattle finally took him at #64. .
  21. He didn’t do that in his less than two seasons of college ball, so why and how could you possibly expect that of him in the NFL? .
  22. Yes, didn’t draft a WR, but signed four free agent WRs. .
  23. There will be growth in the Spring. .
  24. I don’t think we need to do anything. We picked up 8 players in the draft, 4 on each side of the ball, and signed 18 free agents. (Significantly, mostly on offense.). That’s 26 new faces. We are so deep now, even at QB, The Turk is gonna be busy on cut-down day. .
  25. Dunno...kid seems to have the talent, desire, intelligence, work ethic, and catches everything near him. Wish Kelvin Benjamin had those qualities. .
