I know everyone's excited about Van Miller - but last time I saw him he could barely walk or chew solid food, kept telling the same old jokes over and over again, and every now and then would burst out screaming, " It's FAN-demonium!!! " Do we really want to spend a #3 pick on him?

Would we want to make a play for this FA Tackle?
The Senator replied to The Tomcat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Again, if it's depth at RT/RG/ST the Bills seek, I'd go with the younger (by four years) Cornell guy that not only nullifies the ' Curse of Gogolak ' but can also converse with Fitz on an existential level... Kevin Boothe GO BILLSSS!!!! Reverse the Curse!!!!! -
I'll take this one, respk... As previously stated, I'm a huge fan of Ms. Aguilera's talents - but, as a music major and accomplished classical performer, I can attest to the demanding intervals contained in our national anthem, requiring huge and sudden leaps across the entire normal vocal range. An acceptable performer of pop tunes specifically written or chosen for her own range, Aguilera, while far more talented, has about the same musical training as Britney Spears (i.e., ex-Disney Mouseketeer). Christina Aguilera has apparently been affecting the role of slutty, throaty, lounge-singer harlot since about the age of 8 and has achieved much acclaim - well deserved, I'll add - along with financial and popular success. She's also a ' hottie ' - or used to be before she got fat - but that does not ameliorate her lack of musicality or vocal discipline. She does not have the vocal talent to sing the relatively demanding song.

True dat. (My gosh, don't those poor pop stars have it tough enough already? )

The Bills cannot compete with this

When all is said and done, you're still in Tennessee - birthplace of the ' tooth-brush ' (if it was invented elsewhere, they'd have called it the ' teeth-brush ' ) The Volunteers can never complete against this - no one can... -
While Chandler used it as an adjectival noun, ' treasonist ' most certainly IS a word... treasonist Noun 1. treasonist - someone who betrays his country by committing treason [syn: traitor] (It's called literacy, young pup. Get Some.)

All of These Hindsight Post are getting Dumb
The Senator replied to EldaBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In hindsight, if Lou Saban hadn't quit after the Bills 2nd consecutive AFL Championship, the Bills would have beaten KC in 1967, we'd have gone on to kick Green Bay's butts in Superbowl I, probably won Superbowls II & III as well, and today's NFL Championship trophy would likely be named ' The Lou Saban Trophy ' . Just sayin' -
I'm a huge fan of Christina Aguilera's talent, and expected she'd do a wonderful job - I couldn't have been more wrong. I'd like to see and hear our national anthem sung the reverence it deserves, rather than like some young diva auditioning for Simon Cowell.

How far are we from GB? do we need a QB?
The Senator replied to Poeticlaw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While I agree that the Bills need what folks generally refer to as a " Franchise QB " , I would submit that a ' franchise QB ' is one that puts up awesome stats and wins games, and that ' franchise QB ' can be found in the late rounds of the draft, or bagging groceries at a Hy-Vee store, or may even already exist on the Bills roster. Since we're more than just a ' franchise QB ' away from the Superbowl, we don't know Fitz's full potential yet, and there is no obvious ' can't-miss ' franchise QB available in this draft, I'd stick to shoring-up our biggest weakness - get that nasty, fire-snorting, defensive front seven in place. Our offense has shown they can put points on the board - let's get a D that can keep the opposing offense off the field. JMO. -

A quick search indicates Buffalo is 471 miles from Green Bay by air, approximately 745 miles if you're driving. Probably, but it's not our biggest need this season - agree completely with your comments about Fitz, and any QB we draft in April will not be as good as Fitz will be this coming season. Furthermore, given more playing time and experience, Fitz may develop into an elite QB under Gailey's tutelage - especially if the supporting cast (o-line/receivers/running game) around him also improves. Therefore, best to focus on drafting/signing a cast of angry, nasty, fire-snorting, run-stuffing, QB-maiming, 'I'm gonna rip your head off and crap down your neck'-types for our defensive front seven while we see what Fitz does with a full compliment of OTAs, camp, and preseason with the entire team and coaching staff knowing he's our starting QB in 2011. We may be pleasantly surpised - shocked, even. And yes, if there's a Ryan Mallett or Christian Ponder still available at the #34-pick and 6' 7" 325 lb. animal LT Gabe Carimi and/or 6' 6" 290 lb. DE JJ Watt are also still available, then Nix will have to think hard about that choice - it would not be a choice I'd want to have to make. Again, JMO. GO BILLSSS!!!!! 19 and 0 baby!!!!! . -
Rothlisberger & Rodgers could have been Bills

I think it's important to remember the oft-mentioned ' Curse of Pete Gogolak ' - short of doing a Whammy Weenie dance on Welligton Mara's grave, the only way I see to break said curse is to sign a Cornell grad off the NY Giants' roster... Kevin Boothe Boothe, a Cornell alumnus...Has played in 49 regular season games with 16 starts and in 5 postseason games...Has seen action at both guard positions and right tackle...In 2009, played in all 16 games with 2 starts...In 2008, played in all 16 regular season games and the NFC Divisional Playoff game vs. Philadelphia...Saw action at right tackle in place of Kareem McKenzie due to injuries vs. Seattle (10/5), vs. Baltimore (11/16) and at Dallas (12/14)…Played the entire 2nd half at right tackle in the season finale at Minnesota (12/28)...Saw action at right tackle for a few plays in the 2nd quarter of the NFC Divisional Playoff Game vs. Philadelphia (1/11) when McKenzie left the game. GO BILLSSS!!!! Reverse the Curse!!!! -
I got former Texas Tech standout QB and Mike Leach protégé, Graham Harrell... GO GRAHAM...GO PACKERS!!!!!
-
God bless him, he certainly belongs in the HOF, but Reed's wrong - we see an assemblage of players like that in Buffalo every 20-25 years or so. He probably just doesn't realize how great the Bills were in the mid-1960s. We're just about due again... 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! Reverse the Curse!!!!!

Do you take a chance on Jake Locker?
The Senator replied to bisonbrigade's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm hoping Ponder will still be available to Buffalo in round 3 - just because I'm thinking there's a (very) remote chance Gabe Carimi may last 'til #34, or JJ Watt. You just never know what surprises will occur on draft day. (Including the ones out of One Bills Drive ) -
Do you take a chance on Jake Locker?
The Senator replied to bisonbrigade's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You need an option for taking him in the 7th round, which I would not do - or as an undrafted FA, which I also would not do. I'm not sure what the fascination is with this guy - did UW win any championships with Locker? Has the Huskies program experienced some sort of amazing rebirth under Locker unknown only to me? Does Locker hold a slew of NCAA, Pac 10, or even UW passing records? What exactly is it about him that appeals to certain folks? . -
Assumming the Bills took a QB at #3
The Senator replied to CosmicBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I could tolerate it for years, so long as it's some other team's sidelines (Just say NO to Kim Newton/Gabe Blabbert) -
With the 3rd Pick in the 2011 NFL Draft
The Senator replied to DasNootz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You were mistaken...I KNOW Nix wants Mallett. I do think he's a ' reach ' at #3-overall, but would not be at all shocked if Nix went that way. Be assured that if Mallett falls as far as the #34-pick, he'll be a Buffalo Bill. GO BILLSSS!!!! Reverse the Curse!!!!! -

Assuming Everyone is Available: Von Miller Assuming Fairley is Gone: Von Miller Assuming Fairley and Bowers are Gone: Von Miller You should have added one with Von Miller gone... -
If I was dead-set on taking a DE after taking Von Miller at #3-overall, I'd hope & pray that JJ Watt was still around at pick #34. Of course, you never know what Nix will do - if someone like Ryan Mallett and/or Gabe Carimi somehow slips past round one, they could end up being our pick at #34. Then, maybe go with Christian Ballard in round 3. .

Have some friends coming in next weekend from Boston for Hunter's Hope and the Labatt Pond Hockey tourney - have been asking them for weeks now, "Did you ever imagine you'd come to Buffalo to get away from all the snow?"

Why the Bills will go QB instead of DT @ pick # 3
The Senator replied to Bill4Life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's probably a few besides me that are very high on Ryan Mallett, but I think everyone would agree he's a ' reach ' with the #3-overall pick. As for the rest of this year's QB's, none of 'em - Kim Newton, Gabe Blabbert, Fake Locker...none - are first-round material. My wish now is for Von Miller in round one, and come back for Christian Ponder in round three. JMO. GO BILLSSS!!!! Fear the 'stache!!!!!
