  1. This is good news for Bills fans, I think, if we can get Fred and Barney back on the Jumbotron once again, chanting... "GO...GO...BUFFALO!!! GO...GO...BUFFALO!!!!" 19 and 0 baby!!!!!
  2. Meh...looks like he just missed the last step, or took it a bit too fast. An embarrassing moment for sure, but - with video cameras on every freakin' cell phone these days - waddaya gonna do??? So long as he wasn't the guy in the pilot's seat
  3. I would much rather hear Marcell talk some smack than see him get a goofy haircut and make a rap video... GO BILLSSS!!!!!
  4. With 4 years and $53M left on his contract (I believe that's $13M+ per season), I'd say there's not much chance of Palmer landing anywhere! But he apparently thinks there is... Carson Palmer Sells House With Uncertain Cincinnati Bengals Future
  5. Well, actually, Buffalo continued to grow - and rapidly - for decades after that cursed event, increasing in population from 350K in 1900 to 580K in 1950. And, the Bills won consecutive AFL Championships in the 1960s. In reality, in was the slow steady growth of the railroads in the first half of the 20th century as a viable alternative to the Erie Canal for the transportation of goods that led to the demise of Buffalo as a major transportation hub, and the opening of the St. Lawrence Seaway in 1957 that was the 'final nail' in Buffalo's coffin. (Of course, the flight of manufacturing to the Sunbelt and points West, an absolutely ridiculous rate of taxation on both businesses and residents, unchecked greed on the part of politicians, labor unions, and government employees, and the unmitigated stupidity on the part of local leaders - and the voters that ignorantly keep re-electing them - hasn't helped to stop the bleeding!) But, as far as the Bills title drought goes, it all leads back to 1966, Wellington Mara, and the Curse of Pete Gogolak!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! Reverse the Curse!!!!!
  6. I think the Senecas claim that just about all of WNY is 'sacred ground' that rightfully still belongs to them! (And that they should never pay any taxes on anything )
  7. Nothin' for nothin' PHF, but the kid's 21 years old, and just got drafted #3-overall by the NFL. Remembering what a brash young man I once was, I'm willing to cut him some slack... GO BILLSSS!!!! 19 and 0 baby!!!!!
  8. Now that makes good sense. How 'bout we just grab Giants' FA OG/OT Kevin Boothe to fill a need, add some OL depth, and to... REVERSE THE CURSE!!!!
  9. Well, Mike Brown did draft Andy Dalton with the #35 overall pick - so Brown might be a 'believer' in the retirement threats. In any case, given the rancor that exists between Palmer and the Bengals - along with their nabbing Dalton in the draft, it does appear that Palmer is done in Cincinnati. If that's the case, why offer a mid-round pick for the guy? Wouldn't most teams just wait for him to be released? (Kind of like everyone did when it was obvious the Bills were done with Bledsoe?)
  10. Excellent point! After 'The Curse' began, it took the Bills 25 years just to reach another league title game, only to lose Superbowl 25 - in the most agonizing fashion - to the very team that started it all...Parcells'/Belicheat's/Mara's NJ Giants!!!!! This dreaded drought must come to an end... REVERSE THE CURSE!!!!
  11. I stand corrected! I shouldn't have said Palmer sucked. I should have said his 2010 stats (16 games/3970 yards/26 TDs/20 INTs/82.4 rating) were no more impressive than Fitz (13 games/300 yards/23 TDs/15 INTs/81.8 rating) put up with a tougher schedule, a 'lesser' receivers corps, and being thrown into the starting role 3 games into the season after Chan Gailey's Trent Edwards fiasco. Palmer has stated that, "I will never set foot in Paul Brown Stadium again"; "I have $80 million in the bank. I don't have to play football for money. I'll play it for the love of the game, but that would have to be elsewhere." Palmer has also told Begals coach Marvin Lewis that he plans to retire. (Marv Levy once noted that when a player starts thinking about retirement he already has retired.) For all those reasons (and throw in the 'He's from SoCal' thing too) I just don't think Palmer's a good fit here. (Therefore, he'll probably be wearing a Bills uniform this Fall! ) .
  12. On this date, Wellington Mara began the bidding war between the old AFL and NFL that ultimately led to the merger of both leagues by signing Buffalo placekicker Pete Gogolak, who had played out his option in Buffalo and turned down a substantial raise offer from Ralph Wilson for what was then obscene money for a placekicker (approx. $35K, I believe) from the cash-rich NY (now NJ) Giants... Link - This Day in Buffalo Sports History -- Go-go-gone (Buffalo News - 5/17/2011) To this day, Pete Gogolak - the Cornellian who introduced soccer-style kicking to the NFL - remains the NJ Giants all-time leading scorer. The Bills, who had won the prior 2 consecutive AFL league titles in 1964 and 1965, would go on to lose to KC in the 1966 title game, thereby missing the opportunity to play in Superbowl One against Vince Lombardi's Green Bay Packers, and would never win another league title. It is time for another league title. It is time for... 19 and 0 baby!!!! It is time to... REVERSE THE CURSE!!!! We can start by signing a Cornellian from the Giants' roster (I would suggest FA OL Kevin Boothe). Doing an exorcism dance on Wellington Mara's grave and leaving a few Whammie Weenies at the site couldn't hurt either...
  13. So Palmer lost the starting job to Fitzpatrick in Cincinnati, never fully regained his old form after the torn tendon/ligament in 2008, sucked last season, but now should come to the Bills and replace Fitz? (And the Bills should give up a 3rd round pick for this guy that has stated he wants to retire???) Oh...OK...I get it now...this is one of those comic threads you see so much of in the offseason! .
  14. Yep, it's stupid time all over again...
  15. Looks like yet another week of pointless threads by bored folks longing for even the tiniest bit of actual football news...
  16. I gotta go with The Godfather - but don't take my word for it... Joe Fox (Tom Hanks): The Godfather is the I Ching. The Godfather is the sum of all wisdom. The Godfather is the answer to any question. What should I pack for my summer vacation? 'Leave the gun, take the cannoli.' What day of the week is it? 'Maunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Wednesday.' And the answer to your question is 'Go to the mattresses.' You're at war. 'It's not personal, it's business. It's not personal it's business.' Recite that to yourself every time you feel you're losing your nerve. (From You've Got Mail) .
  17. That's where you rank him? Bobby Jones, then Tiger Woods? Seriously?
  18. Yes he's one smooth talker, and I love that box of Bills jewelry! But polished or not, he's no...
  19. That is because statistics prove that highly rated college QB's from Louisville, with alliterative monograms, drafted in the second round, after being cut by their original team, then resigned to its practice squad, then signed from that practice squad by another team, rarely - if ever- go on to achieve success in the NFL.
  20. Bruce Smith We luv ya Bruce, but you could cure an insomniac!
  21. OMFG - players enjoying the leisure time being force upon them by greedy billionaire NFL owners? Scandalous!
  22. Indeed - and I hear that there's a kid that, unless he declares early, should be available in the 2016 draft - if only we can keep on losing... Link - The Second Coming
  23. You know, from purely an NCAA eligibility perspective, Andy's still a red-shirt junior - and after this year could still hang at 'The Farm' for his senior season while earning a Masters degree. (Christian Ponder did just that at Florida!) I'm guessing then the ersatz Bills fans would just have us keep losing year-after year until Andy's ready??? .
  24. It's a subtle distinction, therefore probably beyond your grasp, but Marv would have referred to what you're describing not as a 'meaningless win' - but rather as a 'meaningless loss' - because there are no "meaningless wins". And, while - as tennesseeboy stated - I can possibly understand resting players for a playoff run only if there's absolutely nothing to be gained by winning the game in terms of home field, etc., I doubt Marv would have sacrificed the chance at a perfect record or other significant milestone just to spell a few guys for one game. In fact I'm certain he would not have, because Marv was not a LOSER, and never fostered any even most minute nuance of a loser's mentality... GO BILLSSS!!!! 19 and 0 baby!!!!! .
