  1. There's a band called 'Horse Face'?
  2. Let's see...1993...I'd have been living in EssEff on 'The Crookedest Street in The World', must have been at The North Star Cafe at 9:30 AM that Sunday waiting for kickoff, ordering a drink from The Dean...ah, the memories...
  3. I'm thinking... Mike Leach
  4. I'm pretty sure Jasper understands, as well as anyone does, the challenges facing him to earn a spot on the Bills' roster... With nine picks left in the 2011 NFL Draft, Jasper didn’t recognize the 716 area code that appeared on his cell phone, so he was a bit surprised when a Buffalo Bills college scout was on the phone saying, “We’re taking you with the next pick.” In fact, the no nonsense Jasper was so startled he replied, “Quit playing” because this phone call was too important to have it turn out any other way. Some people might take the day off after achieving their life-long dream, but Jasper was headed to the gym on Sunday afternoon to get his workout in. “Just because they called my name doesn’t mean I have a job,” which surely Coach Chan Gailey has to love hearing, knowing that the accomplishment of being drafted has only caused Jasper to want to succeed that much more. Jasper even told the coach over the phone that “he is going to grind harder than ever.” (Link - Michael Jasper | 375 Pounds of Nasty) Of course it's the size-thing that's gonna make for such great copy as this guy tries to make the squad (think William Perry, only bigger). .
  5. It's a nice 'feel-good' story, and certainly makes you root for the guy, but don't we already have 5 TEs on the roster? You'd think he'll get at least a tryout somewhere in the NFL, though. (I wonder why no one drafted the guy, and if the Bills scouted him or had any contact prior to the draft?)
  6. The other 31 teams... 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! Reverse The Curse!!!!!
  7. Why would YOU think before I post??? How would that even work???? I'm not sure what you're flaunting or not flaunting - only thing I am sure of is that that you can't spell, and that your philosophical rant on 'the ways of the world' makes no sense at all but might make an entertaining movie or TV crime show (or comes directly from one). .
  8. An excellent read - I went to a lecture/book signing at the downtown library when City of Light came out and had a nice conversation with Ms. Belfer afterwards. Besides being an extremely approachable and very nice person, she was most concerned about the accuracy of even the most minute details in her description of the buildings, locations, and timeline of events in that era of Buffalo history. Although the rape episode, as portrayed in her historical novel, bears some fictional 'embellishment' regarding where, when and to whom it happened... 'Delicately, he pushed me off him. When I stood, the offal of his body flowed down my thighs. I dared not make a show of wiping it way...' ...it seems accurate to say that ol' Grover was a cad who did indeed force himself on Ms. Halpin, and the resulting pregnancy and scandal so threatened Cleveland's political future that he and his handlers took extraordinary measures to discredit her and ruin her life. (The whole episode seems remarkably similar to some accusations against Gov. Bill Clinton that had been reported in various news outlets and portrayed in the movie Primary Colors.)
  9. Not at all - in fact, you seem to be claiming that as your own particular milieu. What is, however, incredibly naive is your mistaken notion that there is - or ever was - any sort of prescience or contingency planning when it comes to major municipal construction projects in WNY. There is not. Every new plan is sequential, and a consequence of a previously failed plan. It has always been that way here. But do continue with your Ralph-bashing and other mindless rants on various irrelevant subjects about which you seem to know next to nothing - you are, at least, a source of amusement in an otherwise boring off-season.
  10. I fully expect Jasper to see the field this season, not necessarily as a starter, but the Bills spent a considerable amount of time, money, effort, etc. scouting and working with the kid prior to the draft, and could have just waited to sign him as an undrafted FA rather than burn a draft pick. He'll play some. And you're right - it'll be a great story, especially the part about him not fitting in [bills' scout] Matt Hand's truck.
  11. No, I'm pretty sure I know who all the actresses are in Cougartown - the only Caroline Cougars I know of are members of the Badger Amateur Baseball Association - West Division. Perhaps you are confusing her with Hungarian porn star Roxy Panthers, who starred in... Carolina Jones and the Broken Covenant
  12. Yes, please do cut me some slack - after all, how could a Cornell education and 20 years of living and working in DC, Boston, and Silicon Valley have possibly equipped me to understand such complexities?
  13. The rebuilding is done. We are rebuilt. 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! Fear the 'stache!!!!
  14. Sounds like having Jasper on the field WOULD be like having 12 men! (Dude's kind of like a human, only bigger!)
  15. I'm not sure it's the MOST exciting thing being argued this off-0season, but you're right - while we'd normally be talkin' about OTAs, free-agent acquisitions, and rookie holdouts at this time of year, there ain't a whole lot to discuss at the moment. Hence, I guess, why not start yet another Ralph-bashing thread? Personally, I have no problems with RWS - nor do I think for one nano-second that the stadium has ever had even the most miniscule effect on the team's success or failure. In fact, I like the place. A lot. The only curse that needs to be broken is the Curse of Pete Gogolak. (Buddy can get to work on that one by signing Kevin Boothe as soon as free agency begins.) 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! Reverse the Curse!!!!!
  16. More than you. In 1970 the Kenford Corporation was still planning to build a 70,000 seat domed stadium at a site near the intersection of Pavement Road and Pleasant View Drive in the Town of Lancaster (about a mile from my childhood home, the front yard of which would have been taken by 'eminent domain' to widen the street and accommodate stadium traffic). Plans for RWS came into existence the year after that plan was abruptly scuttled... Link - ERIE COUNTY LOSES DOME SUIT I'm sure signing bonuses for Marcell Dareus et al will take a nice portion of that $28.2M - unless, of course, you'd favor remodeling the Bills' locker room over signing our 1st-round draft pick. Then, there's the possibility of a prolonged labor dispute cutting into this season's EBITDA. Ralph, despite ad-nauseum grumblings about his age and frugality, seems to have had a much better grasp of this whole labor situation than any of his younger and wealthier fellow owners. Are any Bills players, coaches, or physical trainers complaining about the RWS locker room or other parts of the facility? .
  17. HAPPY NATAL ANNIVERSARY!!!!! Cheers
  18. I've been to 2 Bills/Raiders games at The Coliseum - there were more Bills fans than Raiders fans. LA doesn't seem to care much about pro football. (Can't say I blame them, what with all the beaches, sunny weather, and thong bikinis. As for USC, they won't be a powerhouse for long... NCAA rejects USC's appeal of football sanctions "The NCAA flatly rejected USC's appeal to reduce sanctions imposed on its storied football program, keeping in place the harshest penalties leveled against a school in a quarter-century. USC must serve the second year of its two-year postseason ban this fall, making the Trojans ineligible for the first Pac-12 title game or a bowl game. USC also will lose 30 scholarships over the next three years, giving them just 15 available scholarships per season — 10 below the normal yearly limit — until 2015." Then, there's this... "Now that the NCAA has denied Southern California’s appeal to reduce sanctions imposed on its football program, Bowl Championship Series officials will consider whether to strip the Trojans of their 2004 title." (link) Let's not forget how crafty Al fleeced the city of Irwindale out of $10M... Is Al Davis Planning A Move Back To L.A.? I believe Caroline Panthers is now a porn star.
  19. Then you've dropped too much cheap acid yourself - they 'broke ground' for RWS in 1972.
  20. If this helps prevent our all-too-regular beach-closings from Woodlawn to Sunset Bay this Summer, I'm all for it. Flush away!
  21. I'm sure they are...and then, there's FatBoy... Jason Peters busted in Louisiana Jason Peters also faces charge of resisting arrest Eagles tackle Jason Peters arrested in La.
  22. I would never do that, but Ralph probably would... Ralph Wilson has owned the Buffalo Bills since they were one of the original eight teams when the old American Football League was formed in 1960. He has seen it all in the last 51 years. "I'm 92 years old, closing in on 93," he said by telephone from his Detroit home last week. He only gets to a handful of Bills games each year now. He's not quite as mobile as he used to be. "If I can walk to the breakfast table, it's a great day," he said laughing. (Link - NY Daily News - Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson never wanted that deal NFL owners now can't seem to stomach (GO RALPH!!!! )
  23. I'm on the Alex Smith bandwagon, though I don't think it matters who we sign as a backup since Fitz will be starting all 19 games... GO BILLSSS!!!! 19 and 0 baby!!!!!
  24. There aren't too many fans out there more supportive of RW and appreciative of his placing and keeping pro football in Buffalo for over 50 years than me, and I think the thread is fine, uc...great, even. I think Ralph would laugh too, if he saw it.
  25. She's very attractive....for a beautiful young woman, with a great body, that is.
