if you could have 1 ex player as a coach
The Senator replied to billsfan in n.h's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Do you mean an ex-Bills player, or any ex-player? Also, you as mean as either a position coaches and/or HC, yes? I always wished Jim Kelly would have worked his way up thru the coaching ranks - starting as QBs coach, moving up to offensive coordinator, and finally head coach. (Looks like his aspirations are more toward ownership.) -
Neither have I, really, other than being stupid enough to be used for someone else' purposes. But apparently Kraft* & Co. and weren't too pleased - likely they* think it reflects badly on the Cheatriettes* organization* (more than cheating does, I guess). Hence *Gronk's apology, as ordered.

Tannenhill's a fine QB, and will go high in the draft and do well in the NFL, but QB is not an immediate need fior the Bills, IMHO. (Wow - who would have thought, a year ago, thought any Bills fan would say that?) There's a plethora of college QBs, year-after-year, in every draft, that are 'too irresistable' to some of us, but I don't think Buddy Nix & Chan Gailey are as easily impressed as most of us. They'll stick with their board and take the best available player that suits the team's immediate needs. GO BILLSSS!!!! 17 and 2 baby!!!!!

New Game: Pick the Sullivan Column
The Senator replied to Dr. K's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I never read that moron's crap - and my radio dial doesn't go that far left, so I never listen to 'GR either. Column As I See 'Em -
Seriously? The idiot said he did it because he wanted more followers on twitter... "I went into the room to take a picture with him and he said, 'Put on my jersey,'" Jones said to the radio station. "I asked him, 'Can I put these on my Twitter?' He was cool with it because I have more Twitter followers than him and he wanted me to get him more Twitter followers." What is it all this NFL twitter crap, and with these morons and their desperate need for more attention? Isn't playing a game for a living every week in front of millions of fans, a game they've love to play since they were kids - and being extremely well-compensated for it, more than enough for their giant egos? Maybe all teams and players should heed the wise edict of... Mick Leach Leach said players don't need Twitter or Facebook, and called them 'stupid' distractions... "I think that a guy who plays...football gets enough attention," he said. It's "a bunch of narcissists that want to sit and type stuff about themselves all the time. We'll put mirrors in some of their lockers if that's necessary but they don't have to Twitter." I have absolutely no sympathy for Gronkowski, or any other of these vainglorious knuckleheads. .

Way to go, Senator!!!!!

Yeah they do, and yeah he is...you must keep a table of the all the NFL QB's heights next to your PC just so you can proffer dumb height comparisons of NFL multiple-Pro Bowl QBs to slightly above-average NCAA one-year wonders. Wisconsin’s most treasured football export has always been its beefy homegrown linemen, and the Badgers have always forged their bruising identity between the tackles. Wisconsin has traditionally relied on heady but unspectacular quarterbacks handing off to punishing tailbacks like Ron Dayne, Anthony Davis and P. J. Hill. Wisconsin’s archetype became a key recruiting tool when Bielema paraded his top eight linemen — more than 2,500 pounds of protection — into a room to meet Wilson on his visit this summer. “He was taken aback,” Bielema said of the 5-foot-11 Wilson. “These guys are really big.” (link) Like I said, you'll hear people say he's too short. I didn't say it, and don't necessarily agree, but his size will be a negative for Wilson come draft time. In fact, it's probably the size and quality of Wisconsin's o-line that making Wilson look so good. (Last year's starter for the Badgers - Scott Tolzien - had an outstanding season and college career as well, stands 4 inches taller than Wilson, yet went undrafted.)

The Senator replied to Webster Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's why we call it The Buffalo Snooze If you turn to today's Snooze sports section, page D2, you will see the game clearly listed in the bottom left column titled... FOOTBALL ON TV Sunday 4 p.m., Ch. 4, NFL: Buffalo vs. Washington at Toronto (I guess the 'crack' reporters that wrote the front page article never bother to read their own paper.) Link - Buffalo Snooze-Football on TV / This week’s schedule . -
Russell Wilson - transferred from NC State after Scott Tolzein graduated. Kid looks great, but you're gonna hear that he's too short (5' 11"/191 lbs). The trend seems to be toward bigger and taller QBs (6' 3" and up) who can see over the towering (and seemingly ever-growing) offensive/defensive linemen. Also, Wilson was drafted by the Colorado Rockies and played for their minor league all last Spring - seem be some concern that he's conflicted between football and baseball. Link - NY Times - Russell Wilson Drafting Tannehill wouldn't suck, unless your name is Ryan Fitzpatrick, but most mocks have RT going in round one - I doubt the Bills are taking a QB in the first round. I think Nix will take one of the Alabama LBs (Upshaw or Hightower) or an OT (Adcock, or maybe Adams) in the first - if he takes a QB at all, it won't be until day 3 (JMO).

Levitre likely to start at LT vs. Washington
The Senator replied to bills44's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm thinking maybe it's not so far-fetched - Gailey will have had a couple of weeks to revamp his playbook. Don't forget we signed Marshall TE Lee Smith (known primarily as a blocking TE but can also catch the ball) off waivers from NE* back in September... Lee Smith -

Levitre likely to start at LT vs. Washington
The Senator replied to bills44's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm the guy that said 19 and 0 baby!!! Levitre no doubt has the confidence of his teammates and coaching staff, and may do just fine. What happens, though, if he rolls and ankle, pops a hamstring, or twists a knee? Also, Doc, I'm assuming Rinehart moves up to backfill the vacancy at guard created by moving Levitre - that leaves one LG (Colin Brown - 2 games/0 starts) and one RT (Sam Young - 4 games/0 starts) on the depth chart if ANYONE on the o-line goes down this week. We're not even at the half-way mark - it's a long season, and guys get hurt. It's pretty obvious that the Bills win more games when the o-line plays well, we just need more depth at o-line. The trade deadline has passed. Is it Jasper time? Do we comb the practice squads of other NFL teams? Either way, drafting someone like DJ FLuker, Reilly Reiff, Mike Adams, Levy Adcock, Bobbie Massie, etc. is never a bad idea. -

Levitre likely to start at LT vs. Washington
The Senator replied to bills44's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Never said the o-line sucked - was pretty happy with it, actually, save for depth at guard and the RT position. I did argue loudly, though, for some veteran o-line depth. Hard to argue the irrefutable fact that guys get hurt playing football, Doc. Depth at guard became an issue when Urbik got hurt, and depth at OT is an issue now that Bell and Hairston are both hurt, and Wang is gone. It's simple, really - if you got no Wang, Adcock. -

I didn't realize Cris Collinsworth was running for County Executive - or anything, really - but now that you mention it, this does seem an awful lot like 'damage control'... "As a family man I am extremely embarrassed by an interview I did when I was in my early twenties about dating. My comments were insulting, immature, and foolishly intended as a joke. They do not reflect how I lived my life then or now. I was asked to do something humorous about dating, and it has been a major embarrassment to me since the day I said it. I apologize to anyone who has ever had the misfortune to see it now or a quarter-century ago." (link) Well he can say what all wants about our stadium, or dating young girls - the pictures, however, don't lie... -

Daddy Luck is also the idiot AD that picked Dana Holgorsen to coach the Mountaineers, when he could have picked...
