  2. Well at least Adams got fined by Goodell for his transgressions I hope folks remember that it was the Bills and Bills fans that Adams was flippin' Bud Adams fined for obscene gesture to Bills fans Bud Adams apologizes, fined $250,000 for obscene gesture to Bills fans
  3. Hope they do it on a bitter-cold, snowy, December Sunday. (everyone start saving up your old D-cells )
  4. wow... obviously you're assuming the ncaa won't strip the buckeyes of bowl eligibility at all - not even for one year? that's a very hopeful assumption
  5. To each his own, I guess. (I just like to get folks 'on the record' when they opine that they'd be thrilled if the Bills were winless.) GO BILLSSS!!!! 14 and 6 baby!!!!! "I expect to win." - Chan Gailey
  6. Ralph Wilson makes the long trip from Detroit to Orchard Park, just to flip off Bud Adams from the owners' box... Buffalo Bills 57 Nashville Nincompoops 0 GO BILLSSS!!!! 14 and 6 baby!!!!! "I expect to win." - Chan Gailey

  8. Whatever, dude. With Leach's hiring and the $20M/year Washington State will get from the new PAC-12 TV contract, it'll be a major program in no time at all... Moos said Tuesday he was looking for a coach who would lead a high-powered offense that would win games, fill the stands at Martin Stadium and prompt donors to open their checkbooks. Leach would seem to fill all those criteria..Construction has already started on an $80 million project to add premium seating, luxury boxes and a new press box. Also on the drawing board is a $60 million football operations building..."I asked Athletic Director Bill Moos to select the best head football coach in the country and I am convinced that he has done exactly that," WSU President Elson S. Floyd said in a statement. (Link - Sports Illustrated) Think Rose Bowl, dude. Wazzu's goin' Bowlin' baby!!!!
  9. As of yesterday, the 3rd highest-paid head football coach in the PAC 12 ($2.25M/year + incentives) As of yesterday, no more day-fishing in Key West with Jimmy Johnson for 'The Pirate - and the book-signing tours are over...
  10. Try not to be too upset at the Cougars winning record and bowl appearance next season, as 'The Pirate' re- introduces the Air Raid offense and Jeff Tuel leads the PAC-12 in passing.
  11. The only curse this team has is the Curse of Pete Gogolak - the Bills haven't won a league title since Wellington Mara stole him away from us. (Nix could have solved 'The Curse' by siging Kevin Boothe away from the Giants when he was a free agent, IMO. Coulda used the o-line depth, too. )
  12. So what you're really saying is that you would not be disappointed if we were tied with the Colts?
  13. He wasn't good in college, yet he was drafted in the first round, 10th overall ??? He's a rookie QB on a crappy team and has played half a season - even JP and Trent had more time before we truly knew they sucked. Give the kid a season or two, ferchrissakes. (Sad thing is, Mike Leach could have probably turned Gabbert into an All Pro in a hurry if J-ville had landed "The Pirate' as HC .)
  14. I have no problem at all honoring Scott Norwood - but they should have taken a cue from the Boston Red Sox and waited until AFTER the Buffalo Bills won a Superbowl (or two) before doing it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W12h9gNxdpo
  15. I'll give you that one - I certainly was of the complete opposite opinion of some knucklehead that insisted Leach was washed up and would never coach a major program again. BTW, the othe r"shut-down" thread you reference now seems to be this thread - and it was actually about the Jacksonville HC opening (Tampa Bay may have already built a pirate ship - but has yet to fire Raheem Morris, AFAIK). Don't know why the two threads were merged, as mine had nothing to do with Leach's accepting the Cougars job and was started before that was announced - they should have just deleted my thread and left bills44 thread as is, regarding Leach's accepting the job at Washington State. (Since I apparently now have control of the title, I've changed it back to what bills44 originally started and deleted the J-ville speculation - so at least the thread will make sense.)
  16. And Ole Miss alum Archie is head of the search committee for the new HC. (Some want him to hire son Peyton! ) FWIW, outgoing coach Houston Nutt tried giving Leach a nice endorsement for the job... Link - Houston Nutt mentions Mike Leach as possible replacement Alas, for Ole Miss, that pirate's ship has now sailed.
  17. Guess the article's author and you were both wrong! Link: Mike Leach has agreement to coach Washington State (USA TODAY) ...According to a story by CBSSports.com, the deal is for five years and would make Leach the third-highest paid coach in the Pac-12. Leach, 50, was fired by Texas Tech in December of 2009 following a dispute over his handling of receiver Adam James... In reaction to his firing, Leach filed a lawsuit against the school and ESPN. That lawsuit is still pending. Looks like Leach is going to be a very wealthy guy - especially after both Texas Tech and ESPN offer him huge settlements.
  18. Au contraire - The Senator is thrilled to see 'The Pirate' back on the sidelines, and the entire PAC 12 should be very afraid I knew he was the front-runner there, even posted these links in a different thread earlier today... Mike Leach, Washington State Cougars Head Coaching Candidate: Too Good To Be True? Mike Leach On Washington State 'Short List,' Says Bill Moos ...only was unsure if he'd accept the job or hold out for the Ole Miss or UCLA job. In the end, Moos knew he had to move fast before the bidding contest for Leach's services began and he ended up elsewhere. And Leach knew he had to grab any respectable offer just to get his camel's nose in the tent and revive his career after a 2-year exile. A win-win situation - and college football in general, and Washington State in particular, are far better off today than yesterday. (Leach earned his law degree at Pepperdine University Law School in Malibu, so returning to LA might still be a long-term goal - Lane Kiffin will eventually self-destruct). Looks like Leach is gonna be a very wealthy guy - particularly after Texas Tech settles with him. Can't wait for the Air Raid offense and the quote machine to get going again - GO COUGARS!!!!!
  19. I cannot believe this is even a topic for discussion, or that there would be any debate whatsoever on the subject... FACT, Mr. Spock - We know nothing of the aliens, or their intentions... FACT, Mr. Spock - I am responsible for the lives of 430 crewmen... ABSOLUTE, INCONTROVERTIBLE FACT, one and all... Kirk > Picard
  20. per bills44 thread just below (somehow it was merged with my totally unrelated thread about Jacksonville) Mike Leach has been hired as head coach...
  21. Don't you mean Norman Einstein?
  22. I've been a Bills fan all my life. I've also been a Red Sox fan all my life - lived there and had season tix for Fenway from '84-'90 - attended the '86 World Series (Bill Buckner). So I guess what I'm saying is, "Never give up hope" - it's what makes us true fans. And some day, we'll win that Superbowl..it's gonna happen. If not this season, next season... GO BILLSSS!!!! 14 and 6 baby!!!!! "I expect to win." - Chan Gailey http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmEe7vHpKCg
  23. It'll be a year in February - gradually weaned myself down to half a pack or less a day, then 3 or 4 cigarettes, then one or two, then smoked my last one Feb. 10th, 2011. Miised it a little at first - especially any time second-hand smoke wafted my way - now I despise the smell, and the filthiness of smokers using the world as their ash tray. My brother's stage 4 throat cancer and subsequent laryngectomy was a big factor, along with my own chest pains and early symptoms of emsphysema. When you see someone close to you have their throat slit from ear to ear to remove all the cancerous tissue - and then become totally dependent on an oxygen tank as they struggle for every breath - it drives home what a stupid, self-destructive habit smoking really is. Do it - quit today, now, for good. Best wishes for a healthy, smoke-free future
  24. I'd replace defensive coordinator George Edwards with assistant head coach Dave Wannstedt, and hire as full-time offensive coordinator someone like...
  25. Yeah you're right - with the program, players, and recruiting power Texas Tech had when Leach took over, he should have had at least 3 or 4 BCS titles No doubt Leach would love to face off against Tubs and TT just for ol' times sake, but methinks 'The Pirate' is headed for larger things - at either Washington State, UCLA, or Ole Miss
