They did indeed overadjust on the first two series after going up 3TD's late in the 3rd quarter and did not force the Lions to burn as much time as they should have. However, the two series after that Detroit had to assemble 11 play and 16 play drives, the first of which took about 4 minutes and the second of which chewed up the entire game clock except for 12 seconds. So they got too loose on two possessions but then played the next two correctly, imo.

You could put Belichik grinding his teeth saying "17 is a problem" on a loop and I would watch it through my entire lunch. Probably the greatest professional compliment Josh Allen will ever receive. -

Good call, OP. Thanks for the title update even though it was clearly unnecessary from your perspective. 'Preciate 🤙 -

At one point in the 2nd/3rd qrtr they had a shot of the DET sideline with one of the Lions' coaches chewing out the 'backer they were using to spy Allen. You just have to laugh; there is a guy that is bigger AND faster than you coming at you at full speed while you're standing there flat-footed and he can choose to either run through you, around you or literally jump over your head. I would have very much enjoyed hearing exactly how the hell he was trying to coach that one up. -

I absolutely love when we play NFC teams we haven't seen in a while. These dudes have never seen 6'5" 240lb white boy move like that in their lives and you can set your watch to their pursuit angles being totally inappropriate. -
I hear that; I really do. But the circumstances make me much less afraid of weather than I might otherwise be. It's not just Allen's arm either; both Cook and Davis have shown the ability to be mudders and their passcatching corps is loaded with mentally tough players with good hands. Weather won't make their offense better overall, but I do think it can make it better relative to other offenses. And I know it's not PC, but over the years we've taken to calling it BBFS around here; Battered Bills Fan Syndrome

I thought they were absolutely going hunting for points in that part of the field with 30+ seconds and 2 TO's left. Unfortunately Allen got put in a bad situation and opted to take the grounding call instead of exposing himself to another hard hit. They still managed to get across midfield and I wish McDermott would have risked the slight chance of a blocked FG and let Bass try one from there. -

I'm not saying you're wrong, but could you please make the title reflect that this is something you're hearing from a source and not stating it as a done deal? -
I wish more people understood this. The Bills have assembled enough talent that they have the luxury of recognizing this and acting accordingly. If they were a fringe team that had to sell out every week to be in playoff contention, it would be a wholly different tale. But they aren't. They are a group of high character, smart, skilled vets that understand that they real hay isn't made until after Christmas and recognize that if they want to have their Agame at that time, they need to wisely pick their spots to go full beastmode in the regular season. They've been stung enough by missing a high volume of key guys in the postseason 2 of the last 3 years that I think they are consciously (and wisely) trying to make sure it doesn't happen again. Aside from the Taylor Rapp wildcard, so far so good. I'd also add Daquan Jones to your valid list; I think he's in the same boat as Oliver, has been much better over the last month during this key stretch, will also take his foot off the gas the next 3 weeks and will be ready to go get some for real in January.

Looked like an awkward landing on his shoulder to me. It spooked me too. He's been fantastic.

The Lions still only had 14pts very late in the third quarter. When the Bills went up 3 TDs at that point, there was only a little over a quarter left to play in the game and they started trading yards for clock on defense. That's where those points came from. DET only had about 30yrds of offense in their two drives coming out of halftime and didn't get anything going until the Bills started playing against the clock late in the 3rd.

That was the only single time today that I gave him even a little bit of hell. (from my soft, fluffy couch of course) -
You're fair game as soon as you touch the ball, regardless of whether you are at 10yrds or not.

Shoulder I think. They were just being super cautious according to Allen. I'm guessing he took a hard fall on that play where he was off his feet when he got lit up. -
Somebody said he came back in for the final DET possession also, but I didn't catch it first hand.

Crazy talk! He's a witch!!!

I think most of this season is about him keeping himself uninjured, that's he's cranked it up for this stretch, that he's going ti disappear again protecting himself the next three weeks and then go walking into the playoffs healthy and looking to be a menace. I think the same thing about DaQuan Jones who has also looked much better to me the last 3-4 weeks and for the same reasons.
