I thought he was trying to say that if his right foot is on the endline with the ball in his right hand it's a TD, implying that this meant the ball had touched the plane of the goalline.

I don't think it has anything to do with prving anything. I just don't think it's acceptabel for one person to tell another they are not allowed to do what brings them joy any more.
What if your love has always been fishing? Is it OK for somebody to tell you your not allowed to go fishing any more?
