So, how is everyone feeling about this defense going into the playoffs?
Simon replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall
Their ground game could be an issue if we're playing from behind all day. I don't put too much stock in the earlier matchup though; they spent all game specifically attacking Dorian Williams, Cam Lewis and Baylon Spector (and Hamlin at times). This will be a very different looking defense if we run into them again. -

I can't remember the last time the defense "seemed" this healthy going into the playoffs. Hamlin is the only real trouble spot, imo and McDermott has shown the ability to hide one pigeon, if not four. I'd rather see them taking chances than playing on their heels; it's time to go all in and play to win instead of playing to not get beat. -
I suppose it's a matter of perspective, but I have certainly enjoyed it

I think he spent the majority of the season tiptoeing around so that he would be healthy when the playoffs rolled around (as did Oliver, imo). fwiw, I thought he's looked much more active and effective over the last month. This is likely to draw some laughs, but I expect a good postseason from him. -
The best comparison I've been able to come up with is totally Buffalo-centric but accurate from my perspective. He reminds of Hasek because every freaking time I turn on the TV I end up doing double-takes to make sure that I actually saw what I thought I just saw.

I know the Jets aren't the real deal but I think a dress rehearsal is exactly what they were planning all week as they knew it would be their last reg season game for all intents and purposes. -
I get the similarity and the desire to compare him to the greats. But he does something almost every single week that Elway could only dream of even trying. The word unicorn gets thrown around too much but there's really not much of a better descriptor. He just keeps doing things that nobody has ever seen anybody do before, and he won't stop. For the love of gawd, somebody make him stop; it's freaking meowt!

The Ravens entire offense was predicated on taking advantage of Dorian Williams, Spector and Cam Lewis. It's virtually all they did. I think Rapp started but may have been injured early and replaced by Bishop? -

Unblocked blitzer on the edge in addition to Edwards blowing the switch and creating a free rusher inside has Allen running for his life and he still uncorks a 40 yrd laser on a dead sprint and into a shoebox that hits a WR in the hands on the run. It's just unreal and we see it week after week after week. At this point I'm out of superlatives and am going to have to consult a thesaurus.

They aren't great by any means, but if healthy, they are good enough to compliment the Bills offense all the way through the SB. I think the narrative has fed on itself and gotten out of control; the reality is that since Halloween they have really only had one single bad game and that was an out of conference West coast road trip against a HOF QB playing at the absolute peak of abilities. If the Bills coaches have the stones to coach them more proactively in the postseason, I think they will be OK.- 271 replies

You don't round off routes when you have a limited number of steps to play with And I like how you dropped shade into your thought about sharp pivots since Shady McCoy's nickname was CutonaDime. Although that may be a coke thing for all I know 🤷♂️ I am definitely a wheelbarrow sort of fellow; with a built in coozie and a cigar holder

Congrats on your firm grip of math and history. Perhaps you should consider expanding your expertise into the field of football. -

Bull. Have you even seen how many times he's crashed down to stop a RB in his tracks over the past month? -
He may not be ready to play meaningful snaps, but he absolutely should be in front of Spector in an emergency imo. I didn't watch any film but I definitely got the same sense during the game.
-
They damned well should. I'd give them at least three good snaps before I had to be taken off in a wheelbarrow.

This is not even remotely true. I'm 56 years old and am not entirely convinced Dorian Williams could cover me. There's several reasons the Bills don't start him unless they're forced to, and that's one of them.
