  1. When I got home and turned on the TV, it was late in the 3rd qrtr and the Bills were down 16-0. From that point on the Bills scored 17 straight points and held the Jets to only a couple of first downs and probably less than 50 total yards. If y'all want to start a GoFundSimon and start tossing some cheese my way, I can probably be convinced to make a better effort to watch more Bills football.
  2. There's a couple of things that are pretty concerning. One is that I don't think he's done nearly enough to put a support system around Josh Allen that will enable him to reach his potential. When you get your hands on a legitimate blue chip QB prospect like that, your #1 priority instantly becomes surrounding him with the kind of talent that will help him succeed. Instead, after two offseasons of opportunities for Beane, Josh Allen is still standing back there behind what is mostly a patchwork offensive line, without a legitimate starting NFL TE, throwing to a bunch of smurfs with a 3 foot catch radius, all being coached by a guy who might have the worst track record in the entire NFL as an offensive coordinator. That is not a recipe for success and he has to do better. The other thing that is worrying is the way he's managed the pro personnel aspect of the roster so far. The shotgun approach to FA is not necessarily bad in and of itself. Yeah, you're going to have a bunch of misses, that's just the nature of the beast. But what Beane has brought in here thus far hasn't just been bad, it's been historically bad. That gawdawful mess of signings last year was a failure on an epic scale; you might be hard pressed to find a worse batch of FA additions in the history of this franchise. He has a chance to show improved decision-making this year as it relates to how he manages to his professional roster, but starting the season by cutting the RB with the best combination of talent/experience/versatility in order to save a few bucks does not exactly inspire confidence. I'm not hoping for him to be fired or anything, but if he doesn't show significant improvement in these two areas his tenure here is going to be neither successful nor sustained.
  3. While it's hard to be sold on Mr Beane quite yet, one thing that you can really appreciate about him is that he understands that most football games are won from the inside out. They've invested heavily in the middle of their units on both sides of the ball and that willingness to invest both significant draft capital and financial resources into these keystones is very encouraging. Edmunds, Oliver and Morse are three of the best ballplayers on this roster and if Beane continues to focus his assets on maintaining that kind of interior infrastructure, I think it bodes very well for the Bills going forward.
  4. I remember gleefully watching that with about a half dozen Pixsburghers; it was probably the closest I've ever come to getting my ass kicked during a hockey game ; - )
  5. Found this recently and thought it was very cool. For those mentioning the strange texture of sous vide chicken, I've found the best results with a brine for 1-2 hours right before you drop it in the pot, and then cooking at exactly 146, where it will retain all its moisture and still give you a mostly traditional texture. If you're looking for any new seasonings to mess with, I'm developing an addiction to this one.
  6. 1) Every official gets 3 flags at the beginning of a game. If you finish the game with no flags left, you don't get paid. 2) If you're wearing stripes, you're also wearing a collar that activates a low grade current every time you get within 10' of another official. If you need to have an officiating group therapy session every time a guy throws a flag, we'll be making it shock therapy. 3) There's one guy in a booth upstairs with four video monitors and a cooler of cold beer. Every review call (only turnovers, scores and 1 coach request/game) goes instantly to him and he has exactly 15 seconds to overturn it before the call on the field becomes permanent and the ball is immediately set for play..
  7. That's the kind of stuff that could actually convince me to start paying for content from the News. Take good care of that guy, BN. That's the kind of quality and originality your paper has been sorely lacking.
  8. I admit to being a little surprised by how may folks seem to be looking at this through the lens of what gives the Bills the best chance right now. The truth is the Bills have no chance right now. There is no QB on planet Earth available to them that can turn this team into a winner this year. It's simply not in the realm of reality and it's time to stop considering it as a possibility when deciding how to move forward. It's already past time to just protect your investment by giving him regular repetitions during the week and then letting him stand on the sidelines and listen to the entire staff running the offense through a headset in real time on Sundays. Maybe later in the season when his fundamentals are a little more solid, you let him run the offense in managed situations to get some experience, but aside from that I think you just need to keep him healthy until next year when you have more talent around him and he's better prepared to take care of himself out there. Thank you for stating it more thoroughly and with more clarity than I've been able to.
  9. If it's that vs Peterman winning zero games or Allen winning another 2-3 before he gets hurt for real, I'll still take the Derek Anderson scenario I guess my comment about standing next to the coaches was more a figure of speech than anything
  10. You're just saying that cuz he's from Western New York and you probably sound just like him
  11. Sure, but I just see a significant difference between the norm of risking injury and the outlier of courting disaster. Swimming in the ocean is one thing, jumping in a shark tank wearing a seal suit is a different sort of recreation.
  12. The first time I heard him talk I was utterly astounded that somebody had seen fit to give him a microphone. I fully expect Gronk to be the anchor at ESPN by this time next year.
  13. I'd rather not speculate from whence that rabbit was pulled.......
  14. Can you really blame them, though? I don't know if there's another player in the NFL I enjoy watching pulling rabbits out of his head more than Rogers.
  15. I used to think he was a pretty good coach until a couple years ago when I watched him single-handedly cost his team a Lombardi trophy by taking the ball out of Rogers' hand late in an NFC Championship game vs Seattle; one of the most gutless pieces of coaching I have ever seen at any level.
  16. When he first started running those zone dogs early, I had a feeling he was going to get a pick out of it. But never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that Mahomes was going to go off like that in the 2nd half; and that's coming form a guy that has been singing his praises since the first time I saw play earlier this year.
  17. I see coach doing that exact same thing until it bites him square in the bippy. I just think you aint' winning with either of them so let the new/old stunt double be the guy that gets his knee rolled up on or gets turfed onto his throwing shoulder.
  18. No disappointment 'tall. Berg was just a solid OG from back in the 1990's whose tone resembled your own, so I had to ask. Sorry boss, I don't see any comparison; at least between the two players. Maybe in the circumstances, but Allen is a far more natural athlete and QB than EJ ever was.
  19. I'd take that ass-whipping for 3/4 of a million bucks. Of course, I don't already have several other million in the bank! You're not the Berg of Colorado via OSU by any chance?
  20. If you wish to address me any further on this subject, I'd suggest you use the PM feature to prevent further despoiling this intelligent and erudite thread which we are all fortunate to have. My part in it is now at an end.
  21. I'm sorry for you that you think my teasing a fellow long-time poster about his spelling was trolling. There are better ways to go through life than seeking victimhood status at every turn.
  22. I'm going to report this post because there's not a second "e" in Pennsyltucky. ?
  23. I couldn't give a popcorn fart about his feelings or confidence. If those are a concern, he's already done as a QB in this league. I'm talking about him getting seriously injured in a way that is going to negatively affect his physical abilities for the next 15 years.
  24. I don't disagree with any of that, but in this particular offense, I don't think those reps are providing any real benefit to him. The chances of him suffering a catastrophic injury are far greater than anything he's going to learn in his current environment.
