4 spinal surgeries here and chronic pain for decades. What helped me the most has been cutting weight; it takes a lot of pressure off and lessens the pain. What might help your wife (and as a result, you) is trying a CBD/CBN combo as a sleep aid. It's not some pie in the sky BS, it actually works. It won't knock you out but once you're asleep it has a sedative effect that will legitimately keep you asleep. The CBN is the important part, but I feel like the CBD combined with it helps activate it and make it more effective.

Don't you dare give in at the tender age of 39! -
Goddammit, I'm sick of excuses!

Thanks for the mention of banana pepper dip in the OP. I'd never considered it before and am now digging around and assembling a recipe. It sounds really good with some ground Italian sausage and a bit of marinara mixed in.

And what would you have me do? Seek for the patronage of some great man, And like a creeping vine on a tall tree Crawl upward, where I cannot stand alone? No thank you! Dedicate, as others do, poems to pawnbrokers? Be a buffoon in the vile hope of teasing out a smile On some cold face? No thank you! Eat a toad for breakfast every morning? Make my knees callous, and cultivate a supple spine,- Wear out my belly grovelling in the dust? No thank you! Scratch the back of any swine that roots up gold for me? Tickle the horns of Mammon with my left hand, while my right, too proud to know his partner's business, Takes in the fee? No thank you! Use the fire God gave me to burn incense all day long Under the nose of wood and stone? No thank you! Calculate, scheme, be afraid, Love more to make a visit than a poem, Seek introductions, favors, influences?- No thank you! No, I thank you! And again I thank you! But to sing, to laugh, to dream, To walk in my own way and be alone, Free, with an eye to see things as they are, A voice that means manhood- to c0ck my hat Where I choose- At a word, a Yes, a No, To fight- or write. To travel any road Under the sun, under the stars, nor doubt If fame or fortune lie beyond the bourne- ever to make a line I have not heard In my own heart; yet, with all modesty To say: "My soul, be satisfied with flowers, With fruit, with weeds even; but gather them In the one garden you may call your own." I am too proud to be a parasite, And if my nature wants the germ that grows Towering to heaven like the mountain pine, Or like the oak, sheltering multitudes- I stand, not high it may be- But alone! Watching you other people making friends Everywhere- as a dog makes friends! I mark The manner of these canine courtesies And think: "My friends are of a cleaner breed; Here comes- Thank God! - another enemy!" ....... He's a weird pecadillo I have that I wonder if anybody else shares: I never drink beer/booze and eat at the same time. I might eat a sandwich or three before I start drinking, and I will definitely raid the fridge at the end of the night when I'm done drinking. But the fusion of tastes of food and drinks together ruins both of them for me so I never combine them. 🤷♂️ I'm guessing I'm alone on this one?

If there was no room to move around it, I wouldn't leave it in the middle of the aisle. In that case I'd leave it out by an endcap, which I occasionally do if an aisle is overcrowded and it's easier to just walk down it and grab what I need.
-
I often leave my cart in the middle of the aisle so that a) I am not blocking shelves that people might want to access and b) people can move freely around it on either side. It's hard for me to imagine somebody acting like such a spoiled, self-important bullying jackass that they would intentionally ram into it and hope it resulted in a fight. Yet here we are...

This is probably on the money. Too bad, that kid looks like he's a lot of fun to tackle for 4 qrtrs.

Not a bit. Working with Sweats cannot be easy.

Ummm, there's another former OK State RB that might be a better fit here.
-
Yeah, they amended it about 20 yrs ago to only disallow pulling and grasping, with no mention of pushing. What, you don't like our scrawny TE with a torn PCL pushing Allen on one leg?
-
At the risk of misappropriating Denzel, it's not what you know, it's what you can prove. The mass disadvantage is only cancelled out by fully committing your entire front 7+ directly to the LOS, which leaves you intolerably vulnerable everywhere else. I'm doubtful the league actually does anything, partly because they want to give offenses every advantage and partly because it's success rate is becoming negligible as you've pointed out. The only thing I find remotely interesting about it is that it can tend to point up which teams are willingly to be innovative in how they execute and defend it.
-
It is mostly that, but the DL is at a definite disadvantage when the O is allowed to add extra mass with another layer of blockers behind the ballcarrier. I agree with the insignificant observation, as I can't seem to get myself to care much about it either way.

Sauce, heavy enough that it almost becomes a fork and knife endeavor. Cheese, applied liberally. With a trench shovel. Pepperoni, in amounts that most folks would consider obsessive and frightening. Maybe the very occasional bit of ham, thin-sliced tomater or light scattering of banana peppers. Anything else is a foul manifestation of evils borne of the bowels of hell.
-
I'd guess people see it as boring and predictable and the league doesn't want that. Although that would sort of conflict with their ongoing mission of helping offenses in any way they can think of. They're not going to ban any formations or play calls, but they could rescind the rule change from twenty years ago in which it became legal to push a runner while still being illegal to pull him or "grasp" him. Just make aiding the runner a penalty again with no caveats re: pushing, pulling , etc. Hell, they don't enforce that anyways; we've seen Dawkins and Brown grabbing guys by the shoulder pads and pulling them forward multiple times. 🤷♂️

That's very very possible, but it might not matter as much. Jackson is a bit undersized but he's a legit gamer who's shown some ability to play physical, aggressive man in short areas. He'd certainly be a liability against faster receivers, but knowing McDermott, just because they want to play more man doesn't mean they're going to scheme it where chunk players are more available to offenses. He's risk-averse enough in that regard that Jackson might still be a good fit here at the right price.
