Great points! It's going to take some serious defensive heroics to stop this offense. Teams will have to be deep and versatile across the entire defense. Fingers crossed Dorsey can unlock the potential if these players and give us a show we won't soon forget.

Yeah... but their Wang was huge

Are we more deserving of the SB hype this year than last?

Huh.. seems like Harris has been in the league for a while but I guess Singletary has been too (4 years is a long time in the NFL) -

*Singletary got paid because he's younger... at worst an equivalent exhange -
I'm super excited to see how the offense looks this year and especially the amount of 12 personnel they run vs. league average, considering Kincaid. This is going to be a fun season regardless of outcome. The AFCE is bringing the heat and I'm here for it.

It's better than not swinging at all. This off-season he added 4(!) Guards to the roster. It's almost as if his approach was to fill all of the high priced/priority positions over the course of the first 5 years of his tenure and now Beane is doing the final tinkering to the roster that you're talking about. If you look at the roster as a whole instead of individual parts it makes more sense. (I.e the whole equals more than the sum of its parts)
-
He's making those tweaks everywhere else on the roster though. He just whiffed on his guards to this point. If they kept Teller and Ford panned out it wouldn't be an issue at all. He swung and missed. No big deal

The added game makes the baseline higher I started this just thinking what would be ideal for Diggs, Davis, and Kincaid this year. I had to shave about 500 yards and 5 TD's from just those three once I realized how ridiculous Allen's line could be this year. The Bills want him to run less and throw more, be more efficient in both, and use the traditional run to close out games and at the end of the half. The main difference being now he has a safety valve in the middle of the field that's 6'4" and can move.

Morse understands the risk he's taking by playing. If he took a vet min salary to do exactly what you're saying then I'm all for it. Otherwise it's too big a waste of resources for something so insignificant to the game actually being played. At the end of the day it's his decision whether or not he wants to take the risk and honor his contract or work on a restructure where he isn't being paid a starters wage to ride the pine. If Bates beats him out for starting center then all bets are off and he could be traded or cut. I don't know, never know. If they get Hopkins they're breaking all the records!

Nothing the Bills did this off-season has given any indication they want to pass less. Like you said if Josh can take what the defense is giving him, and with the added weapons and blocking help, the sky is the limit for the Bills offense. Not to mention Allen had to play through a ucl injury for the second half of the season so lasts years stats are lower than they potentially could have been. With a worse surrounding cast
-
I don't know man. It's hard to lose games when you score 30+ points. The only thing the Bills did to bolster the run game was add some RBs. All of the guards they added tend to pass block better than run block and the other top players they were linked to were all pass catching options. The Bills are looking to put points on the board RBs and run game be damned!
-
I wouldn't mind that one bit. I think the focus was to make Josh's life easier and take pressure off his legs. Now comes the worst part of the off-season I just added more options for all of the cowards out there 😉

After the season ended it appears that Brandon Beane asked himself how can I make this team better; and decided that we're going to live and die by our offense. (You only need to stop them once if they can't stop you at all) With 2 projected o-line upgrades, an upgrade to the 3rd receiving option, and more speed and size added to the wide receiver room. The Bills are looking in prime position to do improve what was last year a top 5 offense. With that said, the aforementioned facts got me thinking about how the Bills offense projects out this year, statistically speaking. Based on the past few season averages and some (probably incorrect) projections on my part, the floor for Josh Allen is set at 5,000 yards passing and ~50 tds. I'm not entirely sure what to think of the Bills ground game this year so I'm not going to touch on that. Diggs 115 1400 10 Davis 60 1000 8 Kincaid 40 400 5 Shakir 40 500 3 Knox 50 500 8 Cook 25 200 5 Shorter 10 150 1 Harty 30 450 4 Sherfield 15 200 2 Hines 10 85 1 Morris 10 115 1 Allen 450 5000 48 (P.S. A huge thanks to the resident draft experts here on TSW. I love reading all of your insight and getting to know the prospects better through your work.)

I love it! Honestly that's the point! There's no single cut and dry formula for a team to win the Superbowl. Should the Giants have beat the undefeated Patriots? What about the Patriots beating the Rams? There's so much more that goes into winning the whole thing than one single person or thing. In the ever changing league that is the NFL the formula changes year to year. The Superbowl is typically won by the team who gets hot at the right time. Even with an elite QB (Mahomes and Brady) so much of it is dependent on factors outside of their control. Whether that be defense, offensive playmakers, O-Line, or D-line there is so much that factors into a Superbowl victory.

Didn't you hear!?! After the first 4 weeks of the season this Bills team established itself as one of the greatest teams of all time. The metrics were off the charts!!!

It's the perception that so many fans hold/held that this year's team was destined for a SB and that they were going to make right the SB losses in the past based off of the comparisons to those teams. The changes in the league that have happened since then are staggering. Not to mention the landscape of what teams are good and how the dynamics between the top teams vary. KC and the Bengals could very well be the next dynasties in the AFC and the Bills might just never be able to overtake them. Or the Bills could fire back and get red hot after a down year and become the favorites again, nobody knows what the future holds (besides the NFL script writers). There's also a contingent of fans whole are consistently down on the team since they saw 17 years of futility and have decided to embed an aura of failure around anything surrounding the Bills. These are the ones who'll say the game is over at halftime when the Bills aren't winning by 10+ because the other team will come back and it's the "Billsy" thing to do. Allen throws a pick and Singletary fumbles in the 1st quarter and there's no hope the Bills can pull it off. I'm happy that the Bills organization has positioned itself to be one of the top teams in the NFL. I'm disappointed in the outcome of the season, that doesn't mean the team is cursed or there's no hope to ever win a SB. For all we know the team could go to 10 of the next 15 and win 5 of them.

You certainly make a number of great points and with the current roster, maybe a change of such great magnitude (i.e. replacing McDermott) would indeed be the catalyst for the team to get over the hump. I support replacing Frazier with a more aggressive DC and at this point would stand pat with Dorsey and McD. In the regular season he seems to have that killer instinct but when the playoffs role around he goes into a more conservative approach and that hurts the team. Trying to play like that against top tier teams and bait them into mistakes isn't viable. You have to put pressure on the other team and force the issue rather than waiting on them to screw up. This season I think was a bit anomalous with the team dealing with the Hamlin situation and the injuries to Hyde and Miller. A better DC can probably withstand the injuries through scheme and playcalling adjustments especially since they happened well before the team folded against the Bengals.
-
When it comes to the top teams I think those tweaks and smaller adjustments are where you see the difference. You don't tear down a house because of a leaky roof, you fix the roof and go from there. The Bills have the foundation to be a great to for a long time now and they have to find out where they can make a series of incremental changes that lead to better results. Whether that be playcalling, specific players, techniques, cleats and equipment, or any other of the litany of factors that affect the team on gameday.
-
Another thing is that so many fans are always expecting the worst from the team. What's the term that's been coined for for it BBFS (Buffalo Bills Fans Syndrome)? Or something along those lines. It's like if the Bills aren't blowing a team out by 20 points late in the 4th, these fans are waiting for the immanent collapse and for the boot to come down on the team. Realistically up until Allen threw that pick in the Bengals game I didn't count them out. That's not to say I was confident they'd pull it out, on the contrary it looked like they were never in it to begin with. I just can't understand why anyone would be a fan if they had no faith in the team to win any game they're in until the result is finalized.

At this point I'm not up to snuff on my draft knowledge so it's hard for me to determine what players will be valued where and how the draft might fall. I've heard a ton of Bijan hype and how he's essentially a generational type back. That said, the draft won't be made in a vacuum and the moves Beane makes or doesn't will determine what the Bills draft strategy will end up being. Unfortunately, we won't know how that looks until the lead up to the draft. Even still I'm opposed to giving up a 2, 3, or 4 this year to move up.

In your scenario are we bringing back the same O-Line or does the team upgrade in FA? If you do that Poyer and Edmunds are more than likely leaving and then you have 2 pretty big holes on the defensive side of things. Idk about spending assets this year when the biggest weakness was the O-Line and the 2nd and 3rd rounds are typically where you can find starting caliber players. Even if Beane works some magic in FA I'd still rather trade a 2nd next year than even a 3rd this year. I'm thinking something like a 1st and 5th this year and a 2nd next year. If that's even enough to jump up to where he is available. *I just checked the trade chart and that deal is just shy of the Seattle pick in terms of trade value 850-841. Maybe sweeten the deal with another 5th next year

OT…Daniel Jones about to be a very very rich man

The first is definitely a tough sell for any team but they'd give it up with the intent to sign a long term deal and wouldn't have to use that pick for an impact player this year, since they added Jones to the roster. The biggest downside I can see would be Jones getting salty and then having a Kirk Cousins situation. Fingers crossed it happens and he ends up with the Jets -
What would you give up in a trade to get him? I might be on board depending on how free agency shakes out in regards to the O-Line. If it was a 2 or 3 next year that's not bad value in terms of getting better this year. They could still then add a WR in the 2nd and a OL, S, or LB in the 3rd. Depends on the night and the posters I read..

Genuinely curious, why not? Cap space, tagging Saquon? If there's some interest from multiple teams wouldn't that be the way to go, especially if you're on the fence about re-signing him. It gives you imo more options on how to proceed with him but it does limit the team in terms of financials and possibly creates bad blood between him and the Giants. -
Exactly. The team as it stands is going to be in the running for a Superbowl for the next 10-15 years. There's no reason to get depressed because they "missed their window", it's still wide open. I've been a fan through the whole playoff drought and while the seasons as a whole wasn't the most fun after October most years, I still thoroughly enjoyed the offseason and drafts. The NFL does a good job keeping fans, even of crappy teams, entertained
