I don't disagree. It was absolutely DPI, or holding at the least. I'm saying Diggs should've either turned and thrown a shoulder or aggressively attacked the ball. Instead, he chose to put his hands out to B word to the refs. Either option at that point would've been preferable. I'm sure McD peaches not to do that but at some point just let the emotion flow over. Utilize that energy to do something rather than nothing Exactly. The Bills can't just look for these calls, bc they just don't get them. Do something different and see what happens.

I'm saying that if the refs are gonna let it be physical be physical back. At that point "F" the rules and give the defense what they're giving you. If they throw a flag and then it's on the offense, at that point it's even more egregious what the defense did and didn't get called for. There's replay in modern sports so anyone with eyes would be able to see even moreso how that particular play, played out.
-
Yeah, the Diggs play. He had the awareness to throw his hands out for a flag, at that point, plant, pivot, and give a two hand shove
-
The Bills player should know what the expectation is at this point. They are going to be on the bad end of things. Deal with it If they get punched in the head they wouldn
-
So either the kick is at the same field position or the bills get another shot at the end zone (and possibly a further kick, which is a chip shot for Bass)
-
Send a message to the defense that they're either going to have to be more physical or back off. Its psychological. The refs at that point are irrelevant and if they do throw a flag. Odds are they'd look at the whole play again rather than just a penalty on Diggs Not entirely. But the team at that point must've known they weren't going to get any calls going their way. So force the issue. Make the refs throw the flag and from what we've seen in the NFL the offense generally gets the benefit of the doubt
-
If they call a penalty it's not a loss of downs and they get another shot at the game winning score
-
How much would a flag there have hurt the Bills? In any instance it would've been inconsequential. They either would've gotten another shot or a 15yard penalty. So what!?
-
You know what I get it. I've played sports at high levels throughout my life, rugby, not Football, but man even if it takes getting a penalty do something. Diggs reacted enough to get his hands out to look for a call, he could've done something else at that point too, no?
-
It's not about what the refs called or didn't call. It's about the aggressiveness of the Bills players in those situations. Idgaf if Diggs gets called for a penalty, send that dude to the ground and make him pay for grabbing you like that.
-
It sucks that the refs didn't call it. For sure. But what happens if Diggs turns around on the first one and shoves the defender to the ground. What do the refs do at that point?
-
Bills lost. Whatever.. They didn't close out the game when they had the chance, time to move on. Anyway, the PI the penalties clearly affected the Bills more than the Bucs to say the least. (My issue isn't that the Bills didn't get the calls or not. That's entirely irrelevant.) It's the players reactions to what they perceived as penalties. On the long ball to Diggs if he would've fought through it, instead of looking for a flag, he might've had a chance at the ball and possibly a TD. On the fade to Diggs in the EZ on the 3rd before the FG to tie, he had pretty much no chance with the defender grabbing and essentially tackling him when the ball is in the air. On the DPI that set the Bucs up in OT, not sure if it was Dane or Levi, he got in good position but got pulled away and managed to get a call against him. In all of the circumstances the Bills players needed to be more aggressive. Diggs lack of aggressiveness when he let himself get pulled away from the play. He either needed to press the issue on the first and grab the DB by the arm and literally throw him off of his jersey. Force the issue with the refs and make them throw a flag. The EZ throw was a travesty but if Diggs sees that he isn't going to get the ball there, due to interference or not, then get physical with the DB. Take his helmet and smash it in the turf. Again, make the refs throw the flag. On the DPI in OT if the DB would've fought for the ball more instead of just trying to defend against a catch he might be had a pick or at least shown how much he was being prevented from making a play. In all of these instances if the Bills would've pressed the issue and been more aggressive it would've led to something happening differently. Would anyone have been mad if Diggs got an OPI on either of his plays bc he retaliated? What it the DB would've fought through contact and made a great day on the ball and ended up with a turnover. At the end of the day football is an emotional game and sometimes you need to let those emotions flow through.

If you're a Bucs fan!

Easy friend. Lots of posters around these parts detest that kind of talk. Although, I'm excited for tomorrow since the pressure officially ramps up for the Bills. A game against the reigning SB champs and a string of must win games, means that, in essence the playoffs start tomorrow and I for one could not be happier.

I get it. Just don't confuse being a good team with being a bad team or terrible team like so many of you do. Greatness is a form of success measured over a sustained period of time. Not just a splash in the pan for a season. The greatest teams of all time are those who've had the most sustained success. So who's to say how great any team is at this present time. There isn't a dynasty or anything close to one to rise from the shadows of the Pats dynasty. The Bills make the playoffs this year, nobody would be surprised if they won the Superbowl. They aren't some scrappy team pulling off a miraculous season. They're a good team looking to build a legacy
-
Correct me if I'm wrong. The Bills win the division when they win out So tell me again. How much that game truly mattered? The Bills are still in control of their own destiny regardless of what You or anyone else thinks. They're a good team, deal with it. Accept the fact that the Bills are a good team. It will help you sleep at night. Pats fans are here cause they're jumping on the bandwagon. They want a piece of Allen and the Bills. Good for them; they know what a great team looks like, no?
-
Possibly. It's obviously not the entire reason for the inconsistencies this season and lack of execution from the offense, it just seems to me that they haven't been running as many of the wrinkles in the offensive packages as we saw last year. Occasionally in games you'll see them mix things up but from my undereducated perspective they seem to be running a mostly vanilla playbook
-
Fair enough. I just don't see the reasoning in running full bore the entire season to run out of gas in the playoffs. If you knew you could get to a certain point in the season running out of your vanilla playbook why wouldn't you? When it comes time for the games that truly matter its a bigger benefit to not have all of your good plays on tape. Interesting perspective. I wasn't around yet for the late 80s Bills. You may very well be right and they're still growing and developing as a team on a longer term basis than most of the fans are patient enough for

To your point on the contact with Allen. The defender, #41(don't know his name), Plants his foot out of bounds before initiating contact with Allen. Regardless of how gently you perceived him hitting Allen he hit him out of bounds it's pretty cut and dry.
-
In the '21 NFL season the Bills held a playoff position in week 14, after week 14 (fill in the blank, could be negative or positive. Your choice)
-
Considering they'd make it in right now if the season ended today. You're wrong.
-
I'm glad they care. But I don't. They could have a losing record at the end of the year for all I care as long as they make the dance. That's what the season is all about. I didn't watch any post game since it was so late, so I can't comment on the players/coaches reactions. We've seen games this year where they look absolutely dominant like a contender should and others where they look out of sorts and more like a wildcard team. Either way it's playoff caliber football They missed so many opportunities and they should be ashamed of losing that game Monday night. Same with the other games. When you're that close it hurts so much more to lose. But they aren't going to dwell on the loss like so many fans are. They're moving past it so they can focus on the road ahead. They'll probably be extra jazzed up for the next Pats game, but they certainly won't treat it like their Superbowl
-
People see a couple of losses for the Bills and they just want to blow the whole thing up and put heads on the chopping block. The last team to win every game in a season was the dolphins, the Patriots came close but they lost the only one that mattered. I can guarantee that every player on that team would rather sneak in the playoffs and win the Superbowl than have a perfect regular season. I appreciate you putting the other teams schedules up to really show where the Bills stand, which isn't a bad position honestly. They've 'underperformed' yet are still in a better place than almost every drought era team.
-
I do think they'll look to get better at the positions mentioned. Probably not Edmunds this off-season. I'd imagine them going LT in the first to bump Dawkins in to LG then either CB or RB in round 2 and then an interior OL to push Morse, Williams, Feliciano, and Dawkins to be better
-
I see where you're coming from but at what point in the Pats game did they have no chance to win? What about the Titans? I don't remember the way the Jags or Steelers game ended but I'd imagine it's similar. The point is that even when the Bills are playing poorly by all accounts. They're still in position to win these games against quality opponents. I don't necessarily disagree, although I don't think it's a huge issue. They're working on the run game on offense and defensively they do well enough that it only truly hurt them in the game against the Colts. The Pats only scored 14 points and they had the Titans within 1 yard of a win
