  1. I think this thread is a good reminder to some posters not to be so snippy and rude to fellow posters and to instead keep things respectful when they disagree. That would be the foremost takeaway for me.

    A few other observations...

    • Positive hot takes do seem to be more welcome than negative ones. For example, a thread "The Bills are going to win the Super Bowl!" is probably more likely to survive than its counterpart "The Bills have no chance of making the playoffs!" I believe that negative threads CAN survive if presented with well-thought-out opinions, but I also think there is something to the complaint about negativity being frowned upon. I think the "policing" of negative threads could stand to be dialed back just a degree or two.
    • There are definitely a lot of posters who react negatively to anything suggesting the Bills' outlook may not be as rosy as they'd like. It's annoying, but it is what it is.
    • Psychology is a field of study. Sports psychology is a subfield. It's something I studied in school, and it fascinates me. I look at a lot of things, like player and coach comments/press conferences, to try to glean insights. I've noticed that I've been rebuked whenever I've made comments from this framework. It's always confused me. The mental game is a big part of the game.
  2. The players seem to be using 6-2 as a crutch for not worrying about specific aspects of performance. I've seen several players say similar things. Maybe it's not true inside the building, but the public comments are concerning at this point. The same thing happened when the Jauron team started well, so that's one reason why it concerns me. At that time, it was "We're 5-0." It quickly became "We're 5-3." As we all know, soon there weren't any crutches left. Hopefully we don't see the same thing here.

I would be more concerned if the Bills players and coaches thought 6-2 is in the past when it is the present.  We haven't played a 9th game yet...they may not be able to count and that's really concerning.

Yeah we've had a lot of success in the last 20 years.

That's the point... We haven't been successful, because we've let up when we've started to look good. Lorenzo Alexander said it: success is the greatest adversity (paraphrasing)

You will soon find out. We play BAL NE & DEN!

Love how you are sticking up for the Brownies & didn't include the other games, one of which was an embarrassing home loss to a common opponent.  SMH-

That's not the point. The point is that the Bills would have more losses if they had played the opponents I listed above.

I just really don't want people to expect this game to be a cakewalk because they're 2-6.

    5-1 at worst

That is a very unrealistic take. The Bills likely would have been underdogs in ALL of those games, so to go 5-1 would be crazy.

They can still have that in my scenario.

    Once every 16 years? lol

Great players' entire careers would go by before they got a chance to play each other.

I would move Buffalo to AFC North and Baltimore to AFC East. East is 4 teams on the Eastern coast. North are 4 teams all within a pretty tight Northern geography circle.

Yes, the division that makes the most sense is Buffalo, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Cincinatti.

I'm confused.  You said the difference between 6-2 Buffalo & 2-6 Cleveland is strength of schedule. Yet they got destroyed by Tenn, we beat Tenn. They played Miami, so did us. We both play Denver & they lost.

    Please explain.

I've said this in numerous threads. How do you think the Bills would have fared in the following games?

    @ BAL

    @ SF

    SEA

    @ NE

    @ DEN

You don't see Bills going into Pittsburgh and getting much done offensively against "that defense" (ranked 11th in yds, 13th in pts) but you don't mention the possibility of their 28th ranked offense having trouble against our 3rd ranked defense?

Winning in Pitt won't be easy, but they got back to 4-4 with a hard fought win against Dolphins (yes, i know) and beating Colts w/o Brissett when the only player older than I am missed a field goal at end of game. This is not the Steelers of a few years ago.

Tomlin said he never expected to be here. He knows they're not very good and have been getting lucky.

    at Browns

3 bad teams, all winnable games.  If we go 3-0 we get to 9-2, playoff spot pretty much locked up going in to our Turkeyday showdown vs Dallas.  Can we take care of business or it will be same ole Buffalo?

I'm going to keep saying this. The Browns are not a bad team; the Bills would probably have the same record with that murderous schedule that Cleveland has played. People are in for a huge wake-up call next week.

FINAFREAKINGLY!  Did the coaches finally see on tape what we all saw on the field for the last 3 weeks. Damn I watched the all 22 from the Eagles and Peko was a total non-factor and negative on the field. How Taylor wasn't brought up before is puzzling.

Without Peko's story, he probably would have been.

    hahaha!

Sure, just post any nonsense you can think of.

How about this "The Bills would have won the Super Bowl last year, if they had started Allen at the beginning of the season."

    Tennessee

    @ NYJ

    LAR

    @ Baltimore

    @ San Francisco

    Seattle

    @ New England

Do you think the Bills would be favored to beat the Rams, Ravens, 49ers, Seahawks, or Patriots?

    I didn't think so.

    They are 2-5.

Same record the Bills would be if we had the Browns' schedule.

yep I have Cleveland on the road as a loss also.  That’ll be Baker’s Super Bowl.

Why? Is he more motivated against us for some reason? (I mean, it seems like most teams are. I'm just not sure why Mayfield would be.)
