Around the League, week 11

Ehh, I don't know if that's really fair when he didn't play in the playoffs. -
3-3 over next six games and we make playoffs

Cowboys usually start slow. This could play into the Bills' hands. -

Colts and Raiders both nipping at our heels. Everyone else is probably dead. I think the Bills are better than the Raiders and will make the playoffs along with the Colts. I give the Bills a fighting chance in all remaining games. At 7-3 now, 3-3 the rest of the way is a conservative/modest hope. -
John Brown showing he can be a #1 WR
Giuseppe Tognarelli replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Brown is really good. He's the #1 on this team, but I think in a perfect world it would be best for him to be your #2. He hasn't shown an ability to make contested catches or make big #1 receiver plays. He catches the ball when he's open, which is great, but he's not dynamic in the air or after the catch, two traits you typically look for in a #1. I think using his stats as evidence that he's a #1 is a bit misguided. Last year, some people used Zay's stats in comparison to other #2s to show that he was ostensibly a legit #2. I prefer to go with the eyeball test and what I see in terms of dynamic playmaking ability. -

If that were Allen missing the throws that Wentz is missing, people would be losing their minds. But Wentz gets a free pass because I guess he maybe proved something years ago? -
If you think about it, they all probably flew in and were taking public transportation to the stadium. With the last-minute switch, they would have to rent cars for the hour drive and it would probably affect their scheduling on the back end. Very understandable that so many teams backed out.

Teams don't do that. They put their best foot forward every Sunday, with few exceptions.

Myles Garrett should be banned for life. Having said that, I have a feeling the following will be lost in the discussion: Mason Rudolph did commit the first non-football act of aggression there. Let's not pretend that didn't happen. It in no way justifies what followed, but it nonetheless occurred and should not be ignored just because Rudolph was brutalized. He should be suspended a game.

I'll reply to you and @BringBackOrton at the same time. In my mind, kicker is just something I'd take care of right off the bat to make sure I got a great one. It's not that I think a kicker is more valuable than a quarterback. I would just start with a kicker because that at least gives me some baseline of competence. Admittedly, I realize that the nuances in my thinking might not be obvious. ☺

Can we not do the "please stop" thing as if this is some kind of a bizarre contention? Great kickers make big kicks, which makes a difference toward wins and losses. It's hard to mask a bad kicker. I don't have a chance to do the research right now, but I'd wager if you looked back across the league this season, you'd see MANY outcomes that would have been different if a guy had made a kick or kicks.

Obviously, I disagree. Another poster made the point that the Patriots have historically made it a point to have a great kicker. I think it's "criminally" underlooked. Kickers often have a greater impact on the outcome of games than any other single position, save quarterback, in my opinion. The difference between a great kicker and a "whatever's left" kicker is probably 2 games per year, I would think.
