Stefon Diggs - “I watched the game five times”
DCofNC replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Modern Marvin Lewis is your problem. -
Are you crazy, I’ve been told repeatedly, Oliver is a top 5 player at his position.
-
How they handle this off-season will tell you everything you need to know about their plans. If they sign Edmunds to a big deal and bring more scrubs in on the OL, Josh might as well start asking for a trade. No, my daughter was there being loud and I didn’t think about beating her for it, not even once.
-
Same, I’m even losing it over the Bills. For me the whole thing is starting to wreak of a soap opera. SO much virtue signaling, idiotic cometary, blatant steering of games through the officials, etc. It’s harder and harder to GAF every year.

Get it done Beane?
-
Make Knox do it and be done with this BS idea.

Sean is not a bad coach, just a bad fit for this team and era
DCofNC replied to Billsflyer12's topic in The Stadium Wall
Reid was an offensive coach before offense took over the league, he’s now running the most potent/consistent O in the league and winning Championships. McD is a Defensive coach in an offensive era. What the OP said is spot on. -
Jacobs has always gotten that. He deferred his signing bonus until the team got to Nevada so he didn’t get crushed by California taxes. The guy is smart.

Commanders may not pick up Chase Young’s 5th year option
DCofNC replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
You NAILED it, He’s an elite talent at a premier position that’s had injury issues. He looked to be on his way to a monster career out of the gate and injuries have slowed him since. He’s going to get paid big in year 5 either on a prove it deal or as a massive long term deal. You roll the dice on a big time player at a premium position. I got all the hate from the homers earlier in the thread for saying the Bills did not use their 5 year options well. The reason they didn’t is simple, neither Oliver nor Edmunds plays a premium position and neither has ever flashed greatness for more than a game at a time. Those same haters all thought Gabe Davis was the next Megatron off of one game. There’s a real world a Bills fan perception I guess. -

2 things. Why would anybody trade for the production of Oliver and that contract? Maybe a 6th rounder at best for a desperate team. You will be lucky to find any takers on a one year rental of a guy who has been consistently inconsistent. And 2, this staff has been atrocious at identifying/developing talent on either line. AJE won at Iowa by over powering sub par competition. His combine showed a guy without the burst, bend and general athleticism to be an edge rusher in the NFL, so what do we do, try to make a square peg fit a round hole. I don’t think you have to worry about him becoming much more than he is. He’s barely been on the field. -

From the team that traded for Wentz, I can’t say I’m surprised. They are idiots to not pick it up, he’s the type of guy you WANT to use it on. You get another year with him on a lower salary, once he hits the market you are paying 20+ and a massive signing bonus. Yeah he’s been injured, but when he’s on the field he’s been really good. Guys like Oliver and Edmunds are the worst types to use it on, if a guy hasn’t emerged by year 3, you don’t exercise the option, that’s when you play the game of a franchise tag if they finally blow up or take them at a lower price for longer term if they are staying as a “solid starter” type. -

Nope, the original post was that Douglas is in hot water based on QB misses, but good otherwise. I asked, would you rather have him?
-
QB hides a lot. In comparison, would you take Douglas vs Beane aside from the QB misses? The thing is there are like 10 guys at any given time in the NFL that ever stand out as a Qb, you have one, you win games. Aside from Allen, I think Beane would be gone. It’s not only the draft, but his FA and his handling of the 5th year options has been awful too.
-
Ok, then hold him accountable for the failures of his own. The fact is he tried to say Cincinnati is better because they have been drafting higher and KC has been drafting below us and finding better players.
-
I said, “I think”, I don’t know.
-
Comments Beane made when asked if they got their guy, something to effect of “we’re happy to have Josh”. It wasn’t exactly, “he was the guy we were really hoping to land, couldn’t be more excited!” They also spent a lot of time on Baker and he was the more pro ready guy, who do you think McD would be more confident in?
-
I don’t think that’s even a question. Imagine giving up what they did to move up and land anybody else besides Jackson, who wasn’t really considered one of the top choices. Beane went all in and won, but it didn’t really seem like Allen was the primary target, I think Beane would have taken Baker if he could have and had to settle for the raw prospect.
-
I’d like to understand the metrics as well. Let’s be honest, starter by default is not a ringing endorsement of success, but it may be in some metrics.
-
Yep, they have out drafted the Bills at virtually every corner, starting with Maholmes. This last draft is one of, if not the biggest example of Beane’s tendency to lock onto a position and draft purely for need, regardless of the talent on the board. Need CB, force that pick, “need” a pass catching RB, force that pick. Need a cover LB for this antique defensive system WAY WAY over draft a character guy who’s coach happens to be a McD buddy.. Just awful. KC sees a player they want, moves ahead of the likely teams who would draft them, lands the player the Bills want, who subsequently force a pick that doesn’t fit their scheme. KC screwed up once in drafting a pass catching back and realizes they don’t need to waste high picks on a RB with their system, draft a speed/size guy late, who crushes the output of the Bills second rounder.. forget about Boogie instead of Humphrey etc. Beane’s drafts are mediocre at best if you subtract Allen, which btw was another forced pick, but it did work out.
-
That’s why it’s a one year deal, he’s looked like he doesn’t want to be there anymore, hoping the change of scenery will do him good.

Would you resign Edmunds or a tackle?
DCofNC replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m an Edmunds hater, that said, if you can keep him for $11M, you do it. That’s mid trot money for a guy who’s still only 13 and can develop more. He had a career year, not saying a lot IMO, but he did. If you can get him at that price point, go for it. I suspect the real market for him is 17-18M and at that I’m waaaaay out. I’m sure there are teams looking at him as untapped potential to use his speed/size in a more aggressive scheme and they’re sort of right. If you let him chase the ball, he’s going to be better than this situation where we ask him to rely on instincts he’s never had. Either go grab La’Vonte David for a 5M/yr discount or look to the draft, the way we use LBs Edmunds won’t be special here. -
Michael Thomas, 1 year, prove it deal. Covers everything we need if healthy. Big body WR, check. Sure hands, check. Experience, check. Works the middle, Check. Legit 1A to Steph, check. That’s your solution, just gotta make it happen.

Saquon Barkley is Still a Media Favorite to the Bills
DCofNC replied to JackKemp's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills can’t afford to bring DS back, much less afford the premier back in FA. They are going to have to either use ANOTHER pick on a back or go UDFA. Would have been better off keeping Blackshear last year and letting Moss walk, but ya know, loyalties. It’s time to start making some hard decisions and cutting the fat again. Sean’s prize “core special teamers” need to be the first ones shown the door. There’s quite a bit of money tied to non-impact guys, it’s a luxury you should never have had, but no longer can afford.
