2nd round last year on a guy he no more than drafted and said wasn’t a starter. That’s a high pick no matter how you want to shake it. He’s drafted a RB in the first 3 rounds in 3 out of the 4 years he’s been here. That’s chasing something. Not only that but he’s signed and traded for them too.
-
Nailed it, the problem Settle had was availability, he flashed a bit when he played, which was very little. Jones was very good when healthy and not too bad when he was dinged up, but you got about what you expected there and I agree, over paid to get him. There should have been zero expectations for Quess and Saffold looked washed in 21, so it was a prayer he would be worth something in 22 and it wasn’t answered. It was not a good year for the Beanery over all.
-
Nothing against the guy, but I feel you should spend 1st round picks on positions that cost a fortune, RB is not that.
-
You absolutely trade him IF you can find a taker. I said it when they did it, wasted 5th year option, should not do it. Here we are, you have to pay a guy 25-50% more than market value and can’t o anything but offer to pay him more to make it better.

Feel like we missed the boat on that, even as a one year rental, that’s a solid player they could have had for a 6th.

Diggs unfollows Buffalo, follows Cowgirls 🤷♂️
DCofNC replied to DaggersEOD's topic in The Stadium Wall
It would not require that, his signing bonus wasn’t huge and the guaranteed money would follow the contract to the next team in a trade scenario, he’s very traceable from the Bills perspective. The dead cap number and the trade number are not the same. -
Lamar Jackson wants guarantees that exceed Watson contract

If he won’t play for 4x that much, why on earth would he risk injury for 10m? If he had an agent, he would have signed right after JA and been making bank for 2 years, he’s an idiot -
it only works if you have a guy in real Demand and if you do, you probably aren’t trading him while you hold the rights to them for less than the highest paid at their position, soooo yeah, tag and trade is HIGHLY unlikely.

They will be on similar odds w the Bills if the bring in Rodgers, love it or hate it, it’s going to happen.
-
He would make them a legit favorite to win the SB, not saying they actually will, but it will massively move the Vegas needle. The Jets could make it happen with a restructure, make it signing bonus money and add years to the deal, give him a Brady special, 4 year deal 100M signing bonus, vet min for salary this year, jump it to 10M next season, 2 voidable years on the end, bam, flexibility, he gets essentially a 56M/year salary. Rinse and repeat if it’s working or sail off into the sunset a VERY rich man.

Sort of. The player may have to make concessions to make it work. I might be missing details, but I believe it technically COULD be done this year on a trade scenario. We would be on the hook for half of his signing bonus we have last year, so roughly 10.5M, which could be spread out with a post June 1 designation, and bring it down to 7M next year and this year. The guaranteed salary would follow the contract so it’s actually not THAT bad to trade him, but to cut him would be impossible. The Cowboys would have to take his guaranteed money as part of the deal and realistically, they are going to have to make the deal before the 21st if they are going to because his option must be exercised between the 15th-21st, which is 16M more guaranteed. The big thing is, do the Cowboys actually want him? Would they give up a 1st + for him? It’s all well and good to want to play w your brother, but reality may be much different. -
I agree on all fronts. The only point I might counter is, who would make a bigger difference on the team, Oliver or Henry, both are paid basically the same and both will likely be gone after the year so it’s kind of a push in that respect.

Report: Dolphins exploring “moving on” from Tua
DCofNC replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
He’s a scary prospect. Obviously he’s pretty good, but he also looks to be a hit away from being messed up forever. I wouldn’t risk my season on that. If they can make a move they should. -

Something with D tackles? -
Henne has looked just fine in the opportunities he’s gotten. People thought KC was going to lose when Maholmes went out, they still scored w Henne out there. He’s not a starter, but he’s a pretty good back-up. Brissett is an outstanding back-up to a very low end starter. I’d love to have him, but he should get paid very well. I could see him going to Carolina as a bridge/back-up, similar deal to Trubiski last year. I don’t feel like the Bills can afford to go for the high end guy, Keenum is as good as you can hope for and that’s really a stretch, he should be worth 4-5M in the open market. The guy that really puzzles me is Bortles, who says he’s retired, but that would be the perfect back-up to JA, very similar skill sets, obviously at a different level of execution, but you could plug him in and not change anything, unlike Keenum.
-
It’s going to be somebody on the cheap, be it Barkley, or a return of Keenum, but resources can’t be spent on a back up with all the holes on this team.

If you buy that story, I’ve got some sweet ocean front property for sale in Arizona I’d love to discuss with you.

I can’t believe how many people have him so much credit for doing his job. An athlete added strength and size while not running 10 miles a day in interval sprints, imagine that. He’s an NFL player, unfortunately, not a lot more. I said too many times last off-season, you can’t count on a guy who’s never done it before, but they ran with it. It did not work.. oh well
-
Obviously Beane can’t say what he really wants to in public. Davis is a decent player with potential to be very good. That said, they bet on him and lost last year. They have to try for more, but if they can’t find it, you don’t want to say, “we have nothing but Diggs”.

Bobby Wagner - the solution to the Edmunds problem
DCofNC replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Rams went all in and now have few picks and a salary cap mess, plus a bunch of older guys. Donald has talked about retirement multiple times, Stafford should retire, they have no weapons on O outside of Kupp at this point.. it ain’t great. If I we’re running the show there, I’d go all out this year. Dump Stafford, sign Baker for a short deal, try to get Donald to retire or get traded, Wags is already gone. Maybe MAYBE even move Kupp for picks. They need to re-stock the cupboards. -
Would have been nice to have just picked him instead of trading up for Sammy.

Look at what Reid did for the career of every QB he ever had. The guy took the offenses he had to the top of the league every year. The teams always were very competitive, now he has the most talented QB to work with and he’s over the top, it’s no surprise. The problem with a defensive coach and a great QB is the fact Allen can make you look great and boom there goes your coordinator. Now you have to hire a new coach to remake the whole thing. With the head coach as the offensive mastermind, the team can be amazing and they don’t lose the scheme behind it. The same SHOULD be true for a defensive coach, yet when it counts, our D has folded like origami. People are praying the D will change here and THATS your head coach’s bread and butter. They have spent a ton on the D and is consistently destroyed by playoff teams. Somebody should be held accountable and I see great progress with firing the Safties coach, it’s clear he’s why Po got hurt, Hyde missed most of the season and I think if you watch in slow motion you can actually see him turning Higgins should to hit Hamlin too. Good riddance.
-
If they did make a trade for him, it would likely have to be with a new contract. He’s due 10M this year in salary with nothing left after that. The only way it might make sense is to do something like a new deal w converting this year’s salary to signing bonus, add 2 more years with low base and throw another 6-10M in signing bonus on there. Spread the hit out. I could see Tenn making a move, by trading/cutting him it saves 6M in cap space. Not sure I’d be willing to give up a pick and that financial commitment for a high mileage back. This is true, he’s very susceptible to being flattened if you get to him before he gets going. Once in motion, it’s hard to handle, but he doesn’t run like a real power back.

Yes. Time value of money.
