Steelers radio debates signing Tremaine Edmunds
DCofNC replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Allen 40M, Diggs 20M, Miller 20M, Milano 13M, Tre, Po, Hyde, Oliver, Morse, you have to choose at some point. I don’t think he’s impactful enough to justify 20M on. Maybe it’s his role, maybe it’s the player, but aside from the fact he makes the defense better than having a back up in the field, he’s not a guy that you really notice. That’s not a guy I’m paying too end money for. -
No, it’s fact. Look at the teams with sustained success, they score points. Their system doesn’t change, it doesn’t change because the head coach is an offensive coach so the system doesn’t leave with a coordinator. If Bienemy finally lands a HC job, will KC suffer? Nope, Reid is the mastermind. Look at what happened every time a coordinator left in Pittsburgh all the years of Big Ben, the Packers with Rodgers, etc. Now what happens when a coordinator leaves the Rams, the Chiefs, the Payton era Saints etc? Nothing, it doesn’t matter because the O runs through the stable link.
-
Good for him, I hope he gets it. The. I hope he turns the Panthers around, then I hope the fact we still have a defensive coach who can’t win a big game and we have given away two guys who turned teams around get him fired and we hire an offensive mind because it’s all that matters.
-
Umm, that’s 2.5 freaking attempts more a game, you are really going to try to justify that? When’s the last time he played?

This is why I was all about a WR early in the draft. I’m not going through my full explanation of the garbage job the front office did giving Josh what he needs, but I’ll say this, they used hope as a strategy and as usual, it didn’t pan out. Hoping Davis would miraculously become more than he was/is was the only way this team could have had a chance to say they have the weapons to compete with anybody and he flopped. He’s gotten way more opportunities and done virtually nothing more with them than what he put up in the past. I’m happy they at least “admitted” there was an issue and went out to bring Smoke and Bease back in, wish they had tried TY Hilton personally. If they don’t focus on surrounding Allen with better talent, we are going to be watching the careers of Marino, Luck, Stafford, Rodgers, Farve, etc play out. Top 5 QB, team that won’t get them weapons, always having to be the only driving force to a title and maybe they get there once or twice, but ultimately never meet their potential because the team relied on them to entirely carry the weight of the offense. It’s hysterical to listen to The Who’s the best QB arguments and the Jackson lovers claiming everybody has exploded when they got weapons, which has a point. Then people pointing to Allen not being as good this year with “all the weapons” he has. 1 WR is not enough. The fact we are pulling guys off the street and they are making more plays shows we have a major problem. Philly stacked their team, Hurts explodes, Miami making Tua look good (when healthy), Stafford looked the best he ever has with Kupp, woods, etc., Josh regresses as you got rid of his slot guy, his speed guy and replaced them with an injury waiting to happen, a 5th round rookie, and pushed two guys from complimentary roles to “starters”, what a shock. Maholmes has had to spread the ball out more, but I would argue still has more weapons past his #1 and absolutely has more running game help. He’s the only guy in the conversation that’s doing more with at least similar talent. Every team we face in the playoffs will have a better set of skill players and most will have a superior OL, it’s insane to leave that much on one guy.

I completely disagree with this, the Bills wouldn’t go back on the field. It should have been deemed a forfeit. The NFL “cancelled” it to not make the world’s head explode over the situation. The fair thing to do was to say, “sorry, you wouldn’t play, you lose.”. The NFL knew they couldn’t do that in today’s super sensitive climate, so they didn’t. The NFL would at very least, have run the game the next day, given the choice. It’s not like they could say, hey there’s too much snow there, let’s send you guys to another site. I will guarantee you, if Hamlin got to the hospital and was in the condition he’s in right now, the game would have been back on the next night. The Bills wouldn’t play, it was on them, the Bengals went along with it, to accommodate them. All in all, the Bills should have been handed a loss and the Bengals awarded the win. It’s like an MMA fighter breaking their leg in the match, it’s a freak thing, but they lose because they can’t continue. If the opponent caused it, by doing something against the rules, the opponent is disqualified. In this case the Bills were injured and unable/unwilling to go further, sorry, you lose. In my opinion, NFL tried to make it as fair as they could without being insensitive to the situation. It sucks for the Bills and Bengals who lost opportunity, but the reality is this, the Bills should have been handed the loss, the Bengals the win and KC would have still had the best record and taken the #1. The Bills are getting a break by having the neutral field option put out there, though had they taken the loss they could have just bagged it against the Pats and basically got their bye week in. They would have had the #3 and gotten to deal with the Ravens, who I would argue are the better match-up for them anyway vs a divisional opponent. I digress. I’m happy Damar is doing as well as one could hope and sincerely hope he is able to at least get back to having the option to play again. Worst case he at least gets back to a “normal” life and can make the world better through his platform, he seems like a great person with a bright future. Football is merely a game, an entertainment business, we make it far bigger than it is. The life of a good young man was almost lost for it, we should all be rallied around him and family and the game is secondary. I know it’s so easy to lose sight of it, especially in times where we have entirely too much information at our finger tips. I don’t mean to belabor the point, but I feel like we are tied up in a feeling of “unfair” treatment , when life itself is not fair and the thing we are worried about is actually meaningless.

Like it or not, they won another game more than the Bills. They deserve the #1 and the bye. Everyone wants to assume the Bills would have beat Cincinnati, there’s no guarantee of that at all. Does it suck to not have a chance to prove it? Yep. Could the Bills have eliminated all the question by just not choking in a couple of games this year? Yep. There’s no reason KC should be stripped of their accomplishments because of a situation out of their hands. They did what they needed to do. The Bills didn’t get it done, it was a crap situation, but they didn’t take out 14 teams, you can’t assume something would or would not have happened had they played the game. Arguably it could/should have been deemed a forfeit because it was the Bills who refused to go back on the field. The Bengals could have destroyed the Bills and taken the #1 seed, instead they got stuck with the 3. How about their side of it? Both teams did what was right from the human aspect, but it comes with a price when you look at the game side of things. The situation is what it is, KC won the #1 and the 1 gets the bye.

Yeah.. cool. So you think one player is better than the other because one got injured today. I guess that makes AJE better than Von Miller because Miller didn’t play today. Justin Zimmer flashed as much as Ed Oliver, the two are the same player, except one had a first round pick wasted on him and the other has to fight the battle of being an undersized DL who happens to be a great athlete.

Anybody who’s still under the delusion Oliver is anything special is just a Homer of epic proportion. He’s completely invisible most games. Jordan Phillips is a better player. There, I said it.

What's The Likelihood That Gabe Davis Will Get A Contract Extension?
DCofNC replied to Kangaxx's topic in The Stadium Wall
If he’s willing to be paid for what he is, sign him, if he wants #2 or low end 1 money. Deuces. -
NFL Week #18 - Around the NFL Saturday edition

Henry looks washed. -
We want to win the 1.9 seed, so tomorrow is important, it gives you home field, but no bye. Sucks that some garbage plays and a tragedy robbed us of a bye, but it is what it is. It’s go time now. Every game matters, bury the Pats, take on whatever comes from there.

Stidham wants a job next year, the INT was ugly, but he’s definitely looking pretty darn good. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him as the starter for the Raiders next season. -
That’s just mean and completely within the realm of possibility.

Things that need to be addressed in the off season, regardless of via draft or FA, in order (in my eyes), WR, OL, LB (depth or starter of Edmunds goes), DBs. There’s no telling what may happen in between now and then, who re-signs, who may retire, who may get injured etc. there’s no doubt this team needs more weapons for Josh. They desperately need to figure out how to protect him AND open some holes for the run game. Depending on Edmunds leaving or staying, I believe they are going to let him go simply based on numbers, you will need LBs either as depth or starters, and Safety is completely up in the air as well. Po is a FA, Hyde is coming off an injury, Hamlin is a question and everyone else is a mess waiting to happen, it’s time to get younger there and the replacement for the vets is not on this roster (unless they move Benford, which seems like a possibility). So aside from potentially losing their minds and drafting another first round DL, I think this draft is going to need to be focused on WR because of cost in the market, LB because of cost and obvious need and potentially Saftey because of all the question marks there. If the speculation of Morse, Tre, or others retiring actually happens, the focus may have to be altered.

Potential decision made for Championship Game location
DCofNC replied to Ra-cha-cha's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would think they would be looking at equal distance locations and teams out of the playoffs, so after this week it would be more clear where that would be. Tenn makes sense for accommodations being readily available. I’m rooting for Carolina (so it’s easy for me to go 😜) I would think Houston might be good too. -
He’s a guy they had working at both positions in camp. I would absolutely be open to him auditioning at FS against NE. If it’s a horrific failure, we should be able to outscore them anyway. Same could be said for Tre making the move there for the remainder of the year, but I would think you take the experience of Tre at corner and shift the guy who’s now playing a back up role. While I’m sure Sean will side with that, do you really want either of those guys on the field at all?
-
Yeah but with talent.

If KC wins, absolutely rest the starters.
