Levi Wallce buried on depth chart; if he's cut...?
DCofNC replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah… and he kept the job. I don’t love him, but the guy continued to prove people wrong and even when he is not in this system, he’s done just fine. He’s an acceptable starter and a great CB3. He’s essentially a less instinctive Tre White, athletically speaking. The only real issue is awareness when the ball is in the air, not an uncommon problem. He’s not elite, but I would gladly take him back. -
Before playing w Allen, McKenzie was cut because he couldn’t handle a punt and wasn’t even viewed as worth keeping as a gadget player for the O with all that speed and shiftiness. So is it that McKenzie is the better player or he got more targets , with a far superior QB in a pass-centric offense, where he was the 3rd WR (4th option) by default?

If he gets used, I think he could well be the biggest value of this FA period for the Bills. He was actually very good w Miami. If Davis can’t step up, he may get pushed out. Shorter couldn’t do jack crap in college as an absolute physical freak, to think he’s going to step up the NFL and be anything more than a ST gunner is a joke.

I’m surprised the Bills are that high, basically saying they have Diggs over Kupp.

If You Could Pick Any RB to Line Up Behind Josh

So many great choices available, Payton, Faulk, Thuman, LT, Sayers, etc. even McCaffrey, Eckler, etc today would be nice. I think I’d go with Adrian Peterson, just slightly over LT, only because he was gone the minute he got past the second level, he still had awesome power, good enough hands and could absolutely carry a team. He was one of the all time great talents, too bad injuries and stupidity cost him thousands of yards or he probably goes down as the all time leader. -
Are the Bills committed to Ed Oliver in 2023?
DCofNC replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall
You’d have a lot more to spend if you actually got impact players in the draft… You HOPE they get a third. Secondarily, you could have extended him for 13-14M a year and gotten long term gain on all the time you spent developing him, plus a major over investment in picks to get him. Or you could have traded him, free’d up cap space and went after a more impactful player. -

DCofNC replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, brilliant strategy isn’t it? Don’t extend a guy and let him become the most desirable guy at his position in FA, get nothing for him.. Now you are down the path of paying a guy 2x his market value and if he finally “finds” it, you are in the same position again. If you could have unloaded Oliver for literally anything, you would have 11M to work with for a far better player, but the league knows he’s a nobody so you can’t even get a future garbage pick for him. So homer it up all you want, Beane has mismanaged every 1st round pick outside of Allen and it’s a REAL good thing he got that right or there would be even less space to work with. This is why the 5th year option is fools gold. -
Maybe Bates at C, but big Rick got paid so he’s not going anywhere (it would seem) and Morse is clearly the best C on the team by a long stretch, even if he’s basically average these days.

Well, if you are asking if I think they are wrong to play him over other players and not dump his inflated contract vs value. Yes, I question them. -

Oliver has had 4 years and never once has he had even a single game where he’s had Aaron Donald like impact on a game. He’s a marginal starter, just admit reality and move on. -
It’s a Power Ranking, not a rating of who’s actually the best and with that in mind, the list is pretty damn good. I find it hard to fault until the back end of it, but their justifications are pretty solid.

There’s a reason for “prototypical” size in players. I didn’t understand that pick at the time and unfortunately, the Bills were not smarter than everyone else. -
Dexter Lawrence 4 yrs / 90M extension with Giants

Are we more deserving of the SB hype this year than last?

If the rookies don’t play bc McD won’t let them, you aren’t getting anything. -
12 of 32 2020 5th yr options picked up. Bills 100% since 2017
DCofNC replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall
But, you have to declare the option after year 3 so that’s not really part of the deal. -

The 5th year option is fools gold. It should never be used other than extreme cases where you cannot work out an extension. If the player is good enough to warrant that kind of money, you sign him immediately to a long term deal, if he’s not, he should be walking out the door. Letting a player play out the 5th year has little to no advantage to the club. Either A) the play great and your long term deal price goes way higher. B) They play to the value of said contract, which means you would have had them under that cap hit on an extension anyway. C) They suck/get injured and you paid for nothing. if ANYONE plays on a 5th year deal, it should be an exception, not the rule. The fact the Bills have cornered themselves by using it so many times and lost on the deal in every one of them, should be more concerning. Celebrate, what you want, but this is about as exciting as the franchise tag is to players. -
Concerning, don’t need another collision w his arm.

McD is going to have to let rookies play if we are winning that many. If you subtract Kindcaid and O’Torrence, the offense didn’t gain a lot. Hopefully, the D will be better, but pass rush and MLB are a major concern/unknown. Dorsey is also going to have to evolve. There’s a lot of factors at play. If the rookies are hits, the team looks pretty good. If even 1 of the first 3 rounds struggles and doesn’t win a major role, I have sincere concerns this team could finish 3rd in the division and out of the playoffs. -

Wild card. -
Under 4k in a 17 game season is less than 235 yards a game. I don’t see Allen going for that little and the Bills winning on average.
-
If Kincaid breaks that record, we are retooling the entire receiver corps next year. I see zero chance of it. If he breaks 40 catches, I’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Bills' receiving corps getting bigger for playoff football
DCofNC replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
It’s about time they realize the finesse guys win regular season games, but when the going gets tough, the bully’s win. Rex was a bumbling fool, but he at least had the right concept. I’m really happy to see the direction they are heading. I wish Beane had the balls to fire McD and bring in an aggressive coach too, but one step at a time. A guy that physically imposing that can’t beat up on lower level competition, stands little chance of ever seeing a snap on O, he’s here for special teams.
