You can kick the can down the road quite a while, eventually you have to push reset for a year, which is probably around 3 years out when they eat the Miller deal, probably part way with Diggs, and then slap an extension on Allen to reset that situation. You are taking a shot to win in the next two to 3 years right now. The Chefs got a SB win in their cap reset year, if you draft well and have a great QB anything can happen, we are going to need to crush some drafts to make it happen without pain.

Not true, his dead cap IF CUT, would have been too big to swallow because you have to immediately pay his guaranteed money. However, if traded, we are on the hook for his signing bonus, which was not huge, he could have been traded pretty easily, the guaranteed money would have followed the contract, the new team would have to take it on, which is still very decent for a top WR. Doing this added 5.4M to what we would have to eat on Dead cap in a trade or cut, making it virtually impossible to move on from him.

No, he was plenty easy to trade before based on his current contract, this makes him all the harder for the Bills to absorb the money to trade him as it accelerates what he would cost on our cap. He’s now here for this year, bar none, no way around it.

Had he signed them and had a reasonable investor take his signing bonus to make him money, he’d be up 50-100% on that right now and be looking at another handful of restructures that hand him more bags of cash. Instead he tried to maximize the per year cash and waited, it was a stupid gamble and he’s cost himself a fortune, then got hung up on an outlier contract that he again needs to move on from because he now has exactly zero leverage and is going to play for less than he should even in his prime negotiation phase. Lesson to the youngsters, if you wouldn’t hire your mom to be you surgeon if she wasn’t one, you shouldn’t be hiring her as an agent if she wasn’t one. Ego and emotion have cost the man millions if not hundreds of millions at this point.

How many HOF QBs have the Bills had in that span? Why deal with Rodgers BS? Either show up or GTFO, they completely mismanaged all of it.

Are you high? He’s on a one year deal, for more than market value, that can’t be negotiated without an extension. There is no team that wants an under performing, undersized NT for that money to start with, much less give up high picks or multiple for him. If you can get a 5th and clear the cap space, you take it. Yeah, again.. high as a kite. Look he stopped the run!

Nobody said the Bills are well run did they? But in comparison, Rodgers waiting on the bench for 5 years.. Love has wasted 3 years, and those 8 years yielded exactly zero SB appearances, so was it worth it? Considering they had a first ballot hall of fame QB on their roster for 30 years and couldn’t come up with more than they did, year, they wasted a lot. They could have also moved up to get Any of the other 3 HOF QBs in the draft where they wasted picks on Losman. Or they could have admitted they struck out and waited on drafting a QB instead of going all Buddy Nix and forcing it anyway.

GB is one of the worst run franchises in the NFL, they have squandered back to back HOF QBs by refusing to get decent coaching and weapons for their QBs. They are the Browns with luck drafting QBs. The OP is sort of right IMO, if you take Love, the MOST you give him is one year, trade Rodgers when he will bring you back a nice package of picks to surround your new QB with talent and have 4-5 years of top young talent playing on Rookie deals, see Cinci as an example of what can happen. They were bad enough to get #1 overall then got lucky enough to be back at 4 the next year, they are awesome because of it. The Pack screwed themselves, they’ll get next to nothing for Rodgers now and they have no idea what Love will actually be, if he’s great, they turn around and have to hand him the same money Rodgers was getting.

Injuries happen, he has looked good when healthy, a borderline #1 but top flight #2, I think they got a relative bargain for the risk of seeing if he’s back to form.
