I have a feeling we will be trading for one of the Texans back ups, to make sure we get that 3rd round comp choice. Mills makes a lot of sense as he feels he should be able to compete against their rookie, wasn’t allowed to and probably is still pissed. Keenan can’t be cut or they let a 3rd round pick walk away for nothing. Lance was worth a flier for a developmental project, he is basically what Allen was when he walked in, super raw athlete, all the tools, needs refinement. McClappy probably thinks he is the reason Josh turned great, so he could do it again. Not worth paying though.

Yeah.. about that.. step one, fine. Step 2, hard pass. This is exactly right. This offense without Allen is a bottom 10 offense, BUT if you have somebody that can at least not screw up and make the basic plays, you have a chance to win a couple games. To me, Barkley is the better choice for that of the options we have. The guy isn’t a world beater, but he can compete. Kyle Allen is just not good enough. He’s had chances on other teams and couldn’t do much there either. He’s a better athlete and has a better arm, but he’s not a good QB.

For the love, you really think GMs are not humans? It doesn’t take a genius to see what everyone else does and for him to say something along those lines in a casual conversation would not at all surprise me. I have personally interacted with past GMs, while they were on the job, their passion is football, they talk football and yes they talk about the players. They hear/see what fans/media say, it’s not like they are robots in a bubble. I was speaking with a former GM and brought up a big signing and asked him point blank if he really thought it was worth it, he gave me a real answer about the player and ended it with “I hope it works out, because I’ll be out of a job if it doesn’t”. For those that care, it did work out pretty well and he’s still out of a job 😂

Really surprised he got cut before Peterdude. The kid they had out there last night looked every bit as good as Fields 😂. Ok, it’s against 3rd stringers etc, but he did look good. I’m not sure what happened with Walker there, he’s looked pretty good in the past.

Elam now CB4 and playing kickoff coverage in the preseason
DCofNC replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
It is true. If you have a team that’s supposedly that good, anywhere you add a better player, makes the team better. Passing on Creed Humphrey because you “need” pass rush, makes the team weaker. Drafting a project DB because you need a CB2, when you also have holes all over the OL etc, makes the team weaker. They took guys looking at the future, just the opposite of what you are trying to say, they had to develop all these players at positions of need, instead of letting the draft come to them. There isn’t going to be an “aggressive rebuild”, there’s no money for it. The consistent whiffs on finding any difference makers is killing this team. Yes, they are ok, but they can’t get over the hump because Beane has drafted exactly zero difference makers outside of Allen. -

Could not agree more. I didn’t like a single pick out of the first 3 rounds, you had a guy they panic picked in round 1, over drafted a non-starter at RB in 2 and took a guy that may have been undrafted in round 3. Just awful. Signing bonus gets fast forwarded to this year. That’s the killer. -

They better get at least that considering the dead cap is 4x what he costs to keep. -

Not sure how many times Beane needs to see, YOU DON’T DRAFT FOR NEED and succeed. These continued draft misses are killing this roster. -
Will Bruce Smith’s sack record ever be broken?
DCofNC replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall
I can’t see it happening, the longevity is going to be the hard part. The competition today is so good, you have to be at absolute peak condition for an insane amount of time and not break. It’s virtually impossible. -
Has anyone checked on Louis Riddick? (Trey Lance news...)
DCofNC replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
For the 3rd overall pick, it ain’t cheap. The 9ers would owe more on the cap to get rid of him than keep him. Unless he’s a distraction, look for him to stay right where he is until after the season or when they get decent compensation for him. -
Van Demark, a "Model" Fit for the Bills OL?
DCofNC replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, sounds about right. Didn’t know him, but got to read the back of his Jersey as the end flew by -
Agreed, both need to be looked at very hard to determine if they do in fact justify bringing back. I expect this to be the last year of Tre and Dawkins is questionable, his appetite for the game seems to be less than his actual appetite.

The only time I noticed him in the games he’s been blown past, must have missed the “strong” part. -
Dorian and my pet peeve with the staff on rookies

In no way was I suggesting moving Milano, rather, just let him call the D. He’s the best player out there, why hand off the calling to a scrub? -

Then hand the keys to Milano. It’s not like there is a rule saying the Mike HAS to be the captain. -
He’s had trouble making in the moment decisions/ getting it relayed to the team in the past. Adding more to his plate, terrible idea IMHO. Time will tell, but I kind of expect a train wreck of a year at this point.

I was actually talking about this earlier today. A tackle to play in the NFL is a unicorn. You have to be at least 6’3”, not more than 6’7”, at least 310lbs, not more than 350lbs, have at least a 35” reach, be strong as a bull and quick as a cat, be able to move laterally and forward and back, have lightning fast reaction times and make sure you can counter whatever guy they throw at you, literally every single time. The fun part is, you need two unicorns and 3 others who are at least unicorn muggles, and that’s just the starting line. The emphasis on passing has made the demand on the line almost impossible on both sides. Most teams are foolishly, in my opinion, trying to stop the pass with more talent on the DL. The smart teams realize, the team that scores the most points at the end of the game is usually declared the victor and they scheme to protect their passer and make scoring easier. With the current rules and salary cap, any team investing heavily into the DL, is going to lose. You have to score first and worry about the rest later. The difference between a guy like Floyd who will cost a team anywhere from 9–20 Million depending on age and a guy like Boogie Basham will be negligible on the outcome of most games. Yet a stud tackle that neutralizes a higher end defensive player, will keep the ball moving down the field. Where a lot of teams are failing, the Bills especially, is believing you can stop the offenses. You can’t. The rules don’t allow it. Now, an ELITE, player can make it harder on an offense and perhaps keep a few points off the board, but there are only a handful of those guys out there. Von was once one of them, he could wreck a game plan or make a team scheme for him. Donald, Chris Jones, Parsons, Bosa(s), make impacts. Paying mid-level guys, is all a waste of money. So the short answer to why all fan bases hate their OL? The team hasn’t invested in it because they waste money trying to do the impossible with guys not capable of making a difference. The Bills have screwed themselves by spending big on Oliver, who has been no better than any of the other DTs on the team, making less than half of his salary. There’s 5M-8M wasted, Floyd, another 9M spent, arguably nothing more than what we already have. Two picks back to back on DEs, one starts, one is struggling to make a spot for himself, meanwhile the SB champs took an All Pro Center behind them. There’s not a single difference make on the D until Von returns and that’s questionable at his age/injury history. So the Bills will have almost half of their money tied up in the D and that’s inexcusable with Allen and Diggs accounting for almost a 3rd of the cap already. The model is wrong. It’s being proven around the league. The Chiefs, Eagles, Bengals, etc have put money into protecting the QB and only pay the elite ELITE defensive guys. The problem here is, the Bills are paying big for mediocre and consistently whiffing on drafting replacement D players. The team needs an overhaul and it needs to start with the people making the roster decisions.

So aside from the first point, you are saying, in order: 2) Mismanaged team or missed evaluation in Dawkins. 3) Mismanaged personnel and you believe there’s nobody else they could have signed.. false, safety’s were cheap this year, see Rapp. 4) Mismanagement of the roster and doubled down by signing a liability to a huge contract. 5) Mismanagement of personnel, drafting the wrong type of player for this antiquated scheme. Remind us who beat the Chiefs in the SB last year? How did the Bills do against the Chiefs in the playoffs? Oh wait…

Man, so pumped to have 42 D Linemen that can’t be differentiated from each other and zero talent on the OL.

Should have been the focus of the off-season/draft the last 2 years, instead we have the Ghost of 2 former pro-bowl DEs, wasted draft picks and more money tied into the DL. This may well be the reset year where it becomes painfully clear McBean should have been fired 2 years ago.

I don’t see a reason to keep either.
