  1. This ALL DAY long. He commits the same sin every freaking draft. He gets locked on a positional need and won’t get off it for the BPA. This is why Boogie was taken not Humphrey, Elam, Coleman, Oliver, Rousseau etc. EVERY DRAFT. Even the one he got lucky on Allen, he needed a QB and a MLB, guess what happened? It worked once to force a need pick, he got lucky that the 3rd QB taken was the best one. Let’s call it what it is. He swung for the fences and even admitted he didn’t care what it cost because if Allen didn’t pan out he knew it was the end anyway. He took a shot, it worked. The reality is he would have been just as wild if Allen had gone to Cleveland as it was speculated and Baker had been there. As much as I respected the way he trimmed the fat, he’s proceeded to layer it right back on again and handcuff the team. It all compounds from awful drafts leaving holes to be filled by FAs that cost a fortune. If you take away Allen and look at this roster, anyone would be right to question why the GM has a job. If you look at the playoffs, one would be right to ask why the coach has one too.
  2. When you don’t even know who the guy has drafted, it’s tough to defend him accurately. I’d also say your expectations for 1st/2nd round guys is remarkably low.
  3. Well this guy projects he gets screwed but the market saturation of older, has been vets, and the performance (or lack thereof) of similar guys from last cycle. I’m betting his BEST offer is 2 years 22M with 14 guaranteed. I hear you on Brown, but don’t be surprised if he does in fact get that kind of money, that’s still a “low risk” signing these days. He got backed into a corner last year, I’d bet he jumps earlier this year.
  4. Haha, no worries, I didn’t file any patents. I have been drawing the same comparison since last year with him. He’s thriving as a 2, he’s had a few games as a 1, but it’s a different thing when you are the primary focus of the D. Also, he’s going to have to be real careful where he goes, he’s not a separation artist, he wins contested balls, a big factor to that is having a guy put them where you can win. Burrow is arguably the best passer in the league, the only place with money and a QB like him is Washington. Go there and I think he’ll be good, go where you have to be THE man, I think it’s a struggle.
  5. I thought the OP was stealing my comparison from months ago. I think it’s spot on and people claiming Higgins is “way better” than Price are living with the ability to know what Price turned into as a 1, not remembering the hype he had when he was a 2 that everyone thought was the next big thing. Higgins is made of glass for one and if he ever even scratches the level of Anquon Boldin, he’d be making a giant leap, I don’t see him making. Maybe I’m wrong, but he’s used to possibly the best pure passer in the league tossing him the ball, in an offense where he’s not the primary focus. His drop off is going to look like Gabe Davis if he doesn’t pick his spot well.
  6. His attitude towards money and his brother’s chirping in his ear makes me VERY concerned his only goal is to get paid big early and coast off into the sunset. I don’t need a guy who won’t block and wants to negotiate in public before his contract is up, playing the social media game already. That’s Diggs 2.0, I’m good.
  7. He wants to get paid what he can get, RBs can’t afford to get older when looking for money. If he can get paid, he should. I like him, want him back, but he’s gotta do what makes sense for him.
  8. let him go, statistically speaking he’ll come back to “haunt” us with 63 yards and a TD.
  9. Man that’s funny because I think Oliver/Groot/ Epenesa would all look great in another uniform with their cap hit gone too.
  10. I was a big FSU fan at the time, was SO excited he was leaving bc he was holding them back and the Bills go and draft him in the first round no less. He was a 4th/5th round developmental project at best and those numbnuts took him in the first AFTER trading down. You mean to tell me, you haven’t seen a QB off the board yet and you are trading down, still with intent to draft a QB and nobody says “you know, maybe this is a bad call”? Unreal. GeNO Smith should have been the pick and it still would have been bad, but at least understandable.
  11. Come on man, the possibility of having Wood, Wang and Livitre on the same team was too much to pass up.
  12. Yeah, fortunately for them, most of the other guys they swung for have turned out to be better than the rest of McBeans picks.
  13. He got used that way because he sucks miserably at blocking for the QB even after 3 years so they had to put other guys on the field to do his job. He also has a real knack for dropping easy passes too. Brady maximized Cook. He’s a good player, he’s not CLOSE to Lynch.
  14. That’s just kicking the can down the road. He’s good, but barely got 1k and the other guys here already look good too. Make him play it out this year and let him walk. You are unrealistic with that trade value.
  15. Exactly, it’s not MVU, is MVP. No single player had a bigger impact and that’s why Hurts got the award.
  16. The Eagles D was the key to the game from an obvious standpoint. However, Hurts lead the O to score on the turnover and he himself didn’t turn the ball over when it mattered, plus his timely plays extended series and may be realistically just as important in keeping the ball away from KC. He did everything you could ask of a qb and ultimately that’s the guy touching the ball the most, so yeah he’s the MVP.
  17. Crazy part is, it kinda makes sense for both parties.
  18. Mack had 34 catches, didn’t exactly leave the earth. It wasn’t even close to his best year in the league, I think it’s fair to expect pretty similar from him.
  19. Beane keeps looking for the guys other teams “missed”. BTJ was the guy who slid and crushed it this year and my personal target the whole time, I don’t get it either. I was more optimistic about Samuel, that was a flop. Unfortunately, it’s pretty easy to see there hasn’t been enough WR talent going into the last 3 seasons and they keep going in hope as a strategy. Allen covers a lot, but he can’t make up for everything. The biggest hope for the coming year is Kincaid is healthy and ready to go and Brady remembers he has TEs with hands. The lack of creativity on O this year was pathetic as was the use of Cooper who is/was a proven weapon, he couldn’t integrate. How long do we excuse the Brady excuse, it “wasn’t his O” after taking over mid year, this year he couldn’t get a WR schemed open to save his life even after adding Coop. He’s kind of treading on Greg Roman territory to me. Personally, I think the whole regime is a product of Allen carrying their sorry asses.
  20. It’s been about entertainment, but the official designation as an entertainment league vs a football league came with gambling so they couldn’t be destroyed when it’s let out that they are steering the games.
  21. Yeah, the more it goes in, the easier it’s becoming to detach from the NFE(attainment)L, this ***** is turning into the WWE before our eyes and people are cool with it. I’m losing more interest each passing season.
  22. I think this is just people being pissed that these “dynasty” teams seem to all get games handed to them. It’s super annoying and having watched it happen with the Pats and Brady, now with the Chiefs it’s hitting a boiling point.
  23. This. I hate both teams. I’m not watching, not interested, don’t want the NFl to get the ratings.
  24. My house is in.. I’m not watching this year.
  25. I think it’s pretty obvious it’s both not enough talent and not quite good enough coaching. McD has clearly blown a few games in the playoffs all on his own, 13 seconds for example. That said, this roster wasn’t as talented as that team and he got more out of it. The single biggest problem this team has is continued poor drafting in the early rounds. Non-difference makers to flat out busts all over the first 3 rounds. It just doesn’t work. That poor drafting leads to hole filling in FA and looking for difference makers, which cost big money and bring big risk (Miller). So you are left with little cap space and little talent and now drafting to fill holes, which takes your eyes off the BPA and if ANYONE wants to argue that Beane hasn’t been drafting to fill holes instead of taking BPA, you need to stop and think before you embarrass yourself arguing otherwise. So to the OPs question, yeah I think McD is covering for Beane on D and Allen is covering them both by dragging the team to wins.
