Good for him, I know his dad wants him to play with a real QB.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling meeting with the Bills (UPDATE: Signed)
DCofNC replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
If nothing else, he’s a vet that’s been around enough to know the ropes. Decent depth, at this point we just have to hope he isn’t the #2. -
The guy I really WANT to fill the role is Shorter. He’s kinda the same thing as Bernard, seen as a fringe roster type, who could step up big. If the light bulb goes on and it all comes together for him, he could be a HUGE boost to this team. He’s everything we need, size, speed, cost, etc. if he could take the starting job, even as the #2, and I mean, Really deserve the job, it would be amazing for this team. I actually think the guy you will see become really next level this year is going to be Kincaid.
-
I don’t know if he’s necessarily going to surprise anyone the way Bernard did, but I like this choice. I feel like they got a great player, later than he should have gone.

Bills Rookie Media Day Mic'd Up DeWayne Carter
DCofNC replied to Warcodered's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yep, even when Franklin and Baker are not doing anything in the league, some other dude drafted behind him will be more impactful and the fans will be screaming they knew WR was the right choice. -
I’m almost sure they won’t trade for anyone of those guys. Money, picks, etc all make it not worth it and to be honest every one of them is a concern in one shape or another. They SHOULD have just inked D-Hop last year, but you don’t go wasting a draft pick to make up for it, unless it’s unbelievably low, like a 4th or less. DK is not a true 1, he’s a great compliment, but he’s the same thing whoever gets to be disappointed with Higgins next year is getting. DJ Moore, also not a true Alpha, nor is Aiyuk. Any of them make the team better, but they are absolutely not worth the draft capital AND the big contract to eat that much cap space.
-
He may be better than Cook at everything other than a 40 yard dash. Cook is a fast guy who ran through open holes, look at the end of the year when teams tried to stop the run, he was mediocre at best.
-
Cook is headed back to the role he belongs in, just like college, he’s going to be the complimentary back, he’s not built for the starting role in a power rush scheme.

I think this exec thinks the same as the fans do. It’s really in Josh to elevate the guys around him, can he carry the team? We’ll see. The one thing I think is good, we’re going a little different than the majority of the league in building a Patriots dynasty type team of being able to do everything, so you can’t key on one thing. That’s really what’s made KC good, Pacheco can gash you and there’s no part of the field safe w Mahomes so, here’s to hoping we can do the same. -
Could take the probably right off there for me, I’ll take it and I’ll sell it to the guy next to me for $5, I’m still ahead.

The Bills should sign kicker Jake Bates from the UFL
DCofNC replied to LeGOATski's topic in The Stadium Wall
Stats don’t tell the whole story, especially for Kickers and QBs. The whole story is, ours isn’t clutch and you can’t count on him in the big moments. It cost us last year and I wouldn’t be risking it again. -
The ONLY reason it was put in the CBA was to give teams a negotiating point. For a QB, “we only have to pay you ~20M on the 5th year option, so to make this work for both of us, you need to consider that in your ask.” With a guy like Groot who is worth maybe 10M a year, you just guaranteed him more than he’s worth at this time, essentially resetting your own negotiation floor if you wanted to extend him. I think this front office does a lot of things really well, but the egregious 5th year option usage proves they do not get the art of negotiation or cap management to the degree the fan boys here like to think they do. The only player the Bills should have used it on was Allen and they obviously re-upped him before it was a point. Using it and not extending him was a major miss on Edmunds, I would argue it was a floor set point for Oliver, who was over paid for his output and sorry, not sorry, is not the big impact player people here want to believe either. So twice it’s cost you more than it would have to extend a guy at the time and once it’s allowed him to price himself off the team, the other it allowed to increase their contract to more than it should have been.
-
It is and this is why. You have to pay a guy 14M and his market value is lower than that. If he blows up, you lose, if he sucks, you lose, if he gets hurt you lose. You can’t control the cap hit through structure, you can’t negotiate to a market price without an extension. It handcuffs you. If you want the guy, sign an extension now when his value is low, if you don’t want him, move on. He was far out produced by a guy they paid a one year under 10M deal last year and those guys are available every year. 5th year is fools gold and if you can’t tell the difference.. well you’re the fool.

Add 2 Bills draught players in their prime, and add to 2024 Bills roster

Give me Moulds and Evans to go w JA and it gets weird. Mooreman Mario Pat and/or Kyle Williams Stevie Fred Ex I’m goos w any of them. -
Nothing left to say in this thread. Those teams have far superior weapons, especially SF and Det. Agree and disagree. Those teams are built with talent that takes pressure off the QB. You still should build a team to do that for Allen. At this point, they have provided him less than Mahomes to work with and a Defense we know will fold like origami when it matters. JA has to win the game before the last drives bc the team will lose 85% of the time if he doesn’t. This is why the record has looked great when the blow teams out and mediocre when the teams they play don’t suck on O.
-
Seems to me they are building a WR room full of nobodies and hoping JA can elevate them to good enough to win. This is a dangerous path, they didn’t have enough talent with Diggs and Davis, let them go and didn’t replace them with equals or better. As it stands they head to the season with an interesting player in Samuel, who can be a 1k guy, if healthy, but also not really an outside guy/ legit #1, does offer some options with running etc. From there there is nothing proven on the roster. That’s not great. I’m surprised they played this game again after gambling on Davis to step up and having that blow up. It’s really on Shakir, Coleman and a bunch of JAGs to make up a lot of yards and routes. There’s a lot of “potential” on the roster, but that means they haven’t done anything yet. I think/hope Shakir really develops to the “#1” WR, Samuel to be a Deebo lite, and a lot of looks will be going to the TEs, so it may work. The problem will be proving they have somebody to take the top off. If D’s can sit on the shorter routes, there will be too much traffic close to the line, which jams up the run and pass game. The only reason I would have liked to seen Worthy in Buffalo was the respect he would force D’s to give. I will go on record as saying, I don’t think Worthy is going to be special, but he does cause mismatches and that’s his value . I am hoping Coleman just does his thing and becomes an Anquon Boldin type of guy here and that will make him super valuable.

I bet you are the joy of the AA meetings.
-
I mean, I’m not sure where you derived that I was “worried” about Miami, JA will still make them his B word. However, the Bills lost a lot of talent and didn’t replace much of it, so I’m sure their fans think they are the class of the East too.

Back to hearing how Lamar has no weapons.. Real talk, Miami should be really good this year.

New Bill - former Lion Quintez Cephus signed (Update: Now released)
DCofNC replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall
you are delusional, but I’ll give him credit, he got the right guy. That said, it WAS fortunate bc there were talks of him going #1 and he wound up being the third QB taken. Since that time he’s spent us into a hole where we couldn’t pursue any WR talent this year because he missed on all the key positions in the draft for years, the gave away his only successful use of a draft pick on a WR, when he dumped Diggs last minute. So the team goes into the season far worse off than it was at WR last year and they had one of the weakest WR rooms in the league to start 2023. The DL got worse, we have a guy who’s never started at C, taking that roll. Back ups at both S positions and basically we pray Josh Allen can bail him out again. -

Josh Allen is the franchise, without him, this roster is bottom 10 in talent. Take away Dawkins and Milano, it’s worse. -

Is he? Or is he just really fortunate to have hit on Allen? Overall, this roster is not that talented and most of the top talent came from prior to him taking over, so we are in cap he’ll, not as talented as KC and can’t buy our way out of it.. doesn’t sound all that great if you take the rose colored glasses off. -

Shorter and Shakir better ball out this year or I genuinely think it’s time to look at a McBean replacement. -

We have 3 #3s as a #1. 3/3=1, just have to do the math.
