I don't know if you follow the Bills but they had a unique situation with one of their WRs - Diggs.  He was a locker room cancer and a decision needed to be made on how to deal with his future.  The FO decided to trade him.  Trading him put the team into difficult cap constraints.

So no, this was not business as usual.   Any plan at that point was going to have drawbacks.  What was yours?

Obviously it was an audible, but also done too late in the game.  Even WITH Diggs they needed 2 more outside guys and did nothing.  This was a case of either gross incompetence or relying on hope as a strategy, it blew up and cost them a 3rd round pick for a half year player.  It’s piss more asset management, no matter how you want to shape it.

Was it just "really lucky" out of Beane or was it his plan all along?

You're suggesting he got this idea after the Houston game whereas I believe he had the outline of the plan in his head prior to letting Diggs go.  Beane may not have known the exact WR but I tend to think he planned on getting one.  The drafting of only 1 WR was a signal to me that the Diggs position was not going to be a full rebuild situation.  The lame additions of Claypool and MVS were never serious candidates in most of our minds (with the exception of a few that the OP appealed to).

If it hadn't been Cooper it easily could have been someone else.  DHop/D Adams/D Johnson That's not luck, that's a choice.

Yeah, I’m sure it was a plan to bring in a guy who’s not familiar with a system at mid point in the year and hope he catches on to replace  the 100 catches Diggs had put up for years, especially to give up a 3rd for a half year rental.

This really illustrates how all these jerks in the media care only about being proven correct and nothing else. They fall over themselves to get the clicks with their hot takes, then they're so desperate to be the ones to say "You heard it here first" or "I was right" that it clouds their view of said player for the rest of time.

There were still guys desperate for Allen to regress this season so they could say the last several years were all down to Diggs

Isn’t it crazy how many people were claiming it was all Diggs that made Allen, now what?  Well now the MVP talk and suddenly, the Bills and Josh Allen “with all his weapons”, have the best offense in football. It’s a joke.  At the start of the year they didn’t have a single 1000 yard receiver on the team, now they added the ghost of Cooper and he’s getting credit for opening things up lol.😂

I don’t think so.  Yes, he’s subject to waivers, but a guy of Campbell’s status is likely respected enough in league circles to call his shot.

I agree though, it’s a long shot, unless we can convince him he has a much better chance to win a ring in Buffalo over Baltimore (which in fairness, he probably does).

Its almost agonizing how much he would likely help this DL… and DL has been what’s held us back year after year.

I think he’d be a major help, but I’d bet a dollar he’ll be going to Baltimore.

Getting refunds for your tickets is one thing.  And even that is bad because people bought tickets for a reason.  But will they reimburse people for all the travel costs, since many people travel to follow their team?  What about the time off from work?  What an idiotic and thoughtless idea.

You know the answer to that, no chance. The thing is, until it hits their wallet, nobody is going to care.  The NFL absolutely abuses the privilege it has with its loyal fan base. It won’t last forever.

Is it just me or do the Ravens big completions always seem to have guys running wide open. At least 3 of his 4 TDS looked similar to this in openness. This is why the eyeball test matters and not just boxscore analysis. Giants suck too! The one to Justice Hill had the entire side of the field vacant.

E V E R Y time.  Lamar completes more wide open passes than you will ever see in the NFL, by anyone else.  To his credit though, they are wide open because of his legs scaring coordinators.  There’s always a spy on him and that means the D is playing short handed, once it breaks down it’s really over.

This is the stuff I don’t get. Why is it a thing between Josh and Lamar? They both are great in their own right. Josh was doubted a ton (hand up). Well, Lamar was told to switch positions after winning a Heisman trophy.  They both are awesome.

Allen should win but Lamar is having an awesome year in his own right.

It’s not really Lamar the I despise it’s the Baltimore fans who refuse to admit he’s not a top tier passer and want to claim he’s better than JA because of the MVP awards.  Yet, the statistics (and eye test of any rational human) says JA was/is better than the MVP each time he won.  So this year, the media is off Lamar because the Ravens aren’t front running and he actually has stats to back him for once.  I just appreciate the change in script.

Also, I’ve noticed those same idiots seem to have dropped the “Allen is nothing without Diggs” 😂

I didn't mention this in the OP, but I wonder is the original off-season plan was to have Samuel play the slot and move Shakir to Diggs' job.  Shakir has developed into a great slot, but his combine numbers and physical traits are nearly identical to Diggs including height weight with Shakir being slightly faster.  However, once MVS, Claypool and Samuel got hurt in camp, the plan changed and Shakir moved back into the slot to give Josh a go to safety net.

Plausible explanation, I would actually think Shakir would be more likely to be pressed outside based on the team needs through camp.

He was always a slightly-above average player who was constantly hurt with Carolina and especially Washington. Seemed like a panic signing just to get a veteran wideout on the roster.

I don’t think it was a panic thing, they could have gone him or Hollywood Brown, both have flashed in the past and both came “cheap”.  I think they genuinely didn’t think they needed anybody to take the outside role/stretch the D, which proved to be wrong.  Thankfully, Coleman came around as a decent outside threat, then they got Cooper ( who clearly is allergic to the football in this O), now it’s a numbers game and he doesn’t have Josh’s trust bc of missing so much time early and there are 6 guys in front of him for touches.

  10. I’m going to drive to Baltimore to collect the tears of Lamar supporters if Josh wins.

BTW, Josh is the leader and the ironic part is, for the first time ever, Lamar ACTUALLY has the stats to win.  Lamar has better stats in virtually every meaningful category, aside from a few more sacks and less rushing TDs, but he has more passing TDs to make up for it.   If it were all about stats Lamar should be leading, thankfully the narrative seems to be in JAs corner for once.

The Coleman slow jokes are funny but after a while they kind of are super duper overplayed LOL

The dude is not running in quicksand.. he can run 17 18 19 20 miles an hour

The whole premise of a guy being 2/10ths (may be 3/10ths) of a second slower than a “burner” at 40 yards, is stupid at baseline.   He’s plenty fast, if he has any real issue it’s getting separation from defenders, not so much because he’s too slow, but maybe not quite sudden enough or quite smooth enough in his movements, depending on the situation.  I think some of that can be taught and he’s got a good skill set to work with at baseline, he’ll be fine.

Maybe i'm an outlier, but I don't want Mahomes to sit.

I want to beat him fair and square.

Imagine beating the Mahomes-less Chiefs?  We'd NEVER heard the end of it from their fans.

ALLEN > mahomes.   AND, the BILLS > chiefs.

Blah Blah Blah, nobody cares, just win.   Let him sit for a couple weeks and cost them the 1 seed.

No. Nyet. Nada. Elam, while he hasn’t looked horrible, has the benefit of opposing offenses not having tape on him, which I think plays in his favor. He just hasn’t shown me enough, and apparently he hasn’t shown the Bills brass enough either. Bishop, while I see potential, I also see him giving up big plays at the worst possible time. Not their time yet. It’s a next year question IMO.

so you’re ok with Hamlin giving up big plays ALL the time?

I think Elam is going allow them to play man more and he's going to be cb2 for the rest of the year. I think it's also going to take the bills defense up a notch

Honorable mention is Dorian Williams in 3 lb sets

That would be ideal, but I think Elam could be Revis Island 2.0 and McD still wouldn’t play him next week.
