This is the best WR class of our generation
DCofNC replied to Tesla03's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its way too early to call this class anything more than a good looking group of prospects. That said, because of the depth, there should be some real talent pushed into the later rounds. Ideally you find a guy in round 3 or 4 that needs some polish, has a current injury or something that pushed them down and bring them in. You might just get another Diggs type. Diggs is nothing elite in terms of talent, but he works hard and produces, hopefully that will rub off. -
RB is a really GLARING need, right?
DCofNC replied to Richard Noggin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am curious what Christian Wade is looking like behind the scenes. The guy clearly has the athleticism to be a great player, has he refined himself enough to be a factor this year? Is he part of the plans? I think we will see the answer by round 4 if no RB has been taken. -
5th year option on Allen or bid on Watson in FA in 22
DCofNC replied to Mango's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Watson can force his way out, but it’s going to be after the 5th year and the 6th year franchise tag and quite possibly the 7th year Franchise tag if he won’t extend. At that point it’s going to be a couple of 1st rounders minimum to make the trade for him and pay 40m+ a year. I’m still ok with that, I think. Who knows, maybe they play him on the 2nd franchise tag and then tag him a 3rd time or transition tag? It will be interesting. -
I would take Bortles over Barkley and it’s not close. The reason is simple, Bortles is basically Josh Allen, from last year. Before you lose your mind and tell me I’m crazy, remember, he “led” a team farther into the playoffs, has had flashes of crazy success and potential and ultimately could come in and do ESSENTIALLY the same things Josh does. He is a bust vs his draft position, no doubt. That does not mean he couldn’t be a really good back up. He held a starting role for a number of seasons. He isn’t as accurate as you like, he doesn’t protect the ball as well as you would like, he doesn’t see the field as well as you would like and outside of Buffalo, everyone sees the same thing with Allen. the reason Bortles is a better option than Barkley, if Josh goes down, you bring in a player with similar skills to run the offense, not requiring a huge philosophical change like Barkley. Barkley has a far weaker arm, is not mobile, is not going to threaten an RPO game, is not going to stretch the field. Bortles can do all of those things. No, you don’t want him as a franchise guy, but you are looking for a good backup. He might go all Tannehill on you and surprise you if he wasn’t playing for Marrone too, so there’s that. You know Barkley was a street FA in the middle of the year for a reason, he’s mediocre and flashed a couple of decent games in his entire career, never held a starting job and if he plays you expect to lose. With Bortles, it’s like Allen in that, your scheme carries on and if he doesn’t get stupid, you have a good chance to win still. Allen APPEARS to be on a better career trajectory, but we don’t know that yet. He and Bortles were virtually clones at the end of 2 years, all I’m saying is, Bortles would make this team better than Barkley.

I love the Juggerknox, as long as he learns to catch, then run.

Every year there are raw players that show up at the combi e and fans get enamoured with them. Nobody sees them possibly falling and every year l, they do. Metcalf was a sure fire top 15 pick last year, until he wasn't. Its very easily argued he was a better prospect than Mims. Athletic ability is great, lack of production drives guys down all the time. Claypool should be a top 5 pick if we are looking at athletes, but thats not all there is to the game.

What would an “All In” move be to you?

Trade Allen for Brady. -
We are looking at Melvin Gordon according to this tweet

Darn right!!!!! (Path to winning goes through Buffalo)

The Pats still have time and good options available at QB. I don’t want to see Cam Newton there on a prove it deal. The Bills will be in just as much trouble w NE. -
Nailed it.

The 4th is not a comp pick, those have not even been thought of yet and at this point the Bills have signed more than they have lost, so no comps coming at all. Diggs was a 5th rounder, how is finding a WR at 22 “impossible”? Michael Thomas was a 2nd round pick, out performed Diggs best year as a rookie. Just saying, that argument is nonsense.

Montana was a HOF player and THE BEST at his position, Young was the heir apparent. The comparison holds zero weight because guess what, they had 1 and Montana was the clear one until age was in question and Young took over. Use your Corona vacation to get educated in logic big guy. Neither Diggs nor Theilen is considered a top WR in the NFL no matter how hard you homers try to spin it. A guy averaging 72 catches, 12.7 ypc and 6 TD is what you would consider a first round bust. Guys like that are walking around in FA, in fact the Bills signed that guy last year, John Brown. I remember why I stopped coming here, so much homerism and no reality.
-
Same principal, if you have two who people think are #1s, but neither are top 10 at their position, you don’t have a #1.
-
Neither one is a top WR, both just good. Great is reserved for those that actually are. As Parcels said, “if you have 2, you don’t have one” You are the one not getting it, the guy is a borderline #1 and you want to crown the Bills as making a great deal. He is An AVERAGE starter, not a star.

Sane people would be quick to point out Allen over threw WAY more targets that Cousins ever has or will. Hence, it would take far more targets for anyone to produce with Allen throwing. Also of note, if people would argue Diggs wasn’t the bonafide number one for his team, then WHY would you trade a 1st round pick for him? If Diggs was unhappy with his QB and his role in Minn, what makes anybody think it’s going to get better here? That HAS to be the biggest joke of all this. He was critical of a middle of the road, solid veteran QB on a winning team, playing in a dome. Now you put him with Allen, in the elements and in a situation where it’s going to be hard to repeat a winning record? Doesn’t look like a good move. also, his “reasonable” contract is still $5MM+ more per year than a rookie deal. He is not top 10, dude wasn’t a number 1 on his own team. What if he becomes Julio Jones? Check the chart, 4th next year is devalued a round. You don’t know what will happen in the draft and Diggs was a low pick, so how can your evaluation be a logical one?
-
Awful trade. Diggs is a good player, not a great one. The Bills gave up way too much to get another guy who is basically a slightly juiced up John Brown. Giving up a first was awful, the package is worth the 18th pick overall, I’m not at all impressed, looks like Beane got locked in and lost another trade.

Draft may be postponed until May

The fact their system is over burdened is real, that does not change the actual facts of the matter, please don't try to change the target of the conversation. -

10,000 cases, 600 deaths, 58% of deaths were those over 80 yrs old and more than 2/3 of them with pre-existing issues. Just because you have a TINY sample size, does not mean you have facts. https://www.pharmaceutical-technology.com/comment/italy-coronavirus-outbreak/ 34,000 deaths in 2018-19 flu season in the US and you didn't panic. The mortality rate is high in the same classes of people, it mellows as it gets to the non compromised population, litterally EVERY YEAR. 32,000 people already dead from this flu season, guess what, no panic. Focusing on percentages in a small sample size is foolish. -
Bills re-sign Jason Croom to 1-year deal
DCofNC replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Easy to point at the relationship with Pegs daughter, but he DID lead the TEs in receptions in 2018 and DID look pretty good as a receiver out there. Hes big, fast, can catch and ultimately was a project player all along. I would expect he gets cut if he doesn't show well, but for now, I have no issue with continuing to see if he has developed. He's the prototypical TE in todays game and you have little invested in him, worth a shot. Ideally Knox remembers to catch then run and continues to be TE1, steps up to the "Gronk" role ( obviously NOT expecting that level of dominance) and you hope Croom could be the mismatch nightmare like Hernandez was back in the day. If we got 80% of that production, this team is MILES better than last year. They have been trying to build the Patriots/Panthers here, great D, efficient O that can explode and most of all, confidence they can impose their will. The obvious missing parts are a QB like Brady, but JA did show flashes, the over the middle weapons to move the chains, the Red Zone giant and probably the most over looked part, that MUST CHANGE, a killer instinct, yeah I'm looking at you McDermott, step on throats, not the brake with a 13pt lead. So what they have done, who they signed and keep trying to develop makes sense, even if its not the guys I would neccesarily choose to do it with. -

And just like the flu, the death rates starts high and settles down after the its spread outside of the nursing homes where it raises hell. Look af facts, not just the immediate paranoia. Literally every disease death % curve looks similar, high in the begining, as it spreads to millions ( flu every year), the percentage goes way down because it won't kill the healthy. There are even knowledgeable people believing chilren are virtually immune to Covid, meaning its LESS vicious than the flu. Take a small smalle size of anything and the rate can fluxuate vastly from reality. Example, take the Bills winning percentage of the last decade vs the winning percentage for 2 games a year vs the Patriots.. yeah the team already died in that scenario. -
Justin Jefferson should be our WR target at 22
DCofNC replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You really question if 1st round WRs with all the NFL measurables you can ask for and great hands are better than 4.7 /40, couldn't get on the field "Dropsies" Duke Williams? C'mon now.
