I agree, if he will sign for that, you bring him back, if somebody is going to give him 10+M a year, so be it. He’s good, not great, and at a position that’s just not going to get huge money once you have to pay everyone else. I would be planning my life around making Tre a priority, so there HAS to be room for him, Dawkins will have to be paid and then you are looking at Allen/Edmunds. Allen is the wild card, if he takes the next step, you are in for 35M/yr, if not, you have to start thinking about possibly using Tre as trade bait, trying to get a couple first rounders for him and be ready to move up for a QB again. Allen’s success this year will be a huge factor in a lot of these deals.

Bears trade TE Adam Shaheen to Miami
DCofNC replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unlikely he makes much of an impact, but good luck to him for 14 games this year. As for adding him here, it’s crowded already and full of POTENTIAL, which just means they haven’t done ***** yet. Knox has the ability to be a top 5 TE, can he put it together? I sure hope so. Kroft has had a season where he looked like a legit starter, so you have hope there. Sweeney did well in limited action and let’s not forget Pegula Jr has some receiving ability, if he can stay on the field. Smith is a guarantee for 20 yards a game, in penalties. He should be cut/ never should have been signed.. again.. -
Damn, that’s outstanding for the Jets. I’d make that deal without him yapping.

That’s different, those are clauses to execute the contract, he’s in a contract, so his rights are protected by the union. They will fight it if he’s cleared by independent doctors, if it’s for nothing more than the money. -
Darryl Johnson is the one that has my eye, I feel he could be a Manny Lawson type player, that’s a helluva value.

NFL is getting ready for football - waivers started

The lack of preseason sucks for guys like Wade and UDFA as well as late rounders. This likely means Bass for example has no shot to prove himself in game conditions, so he will end up a wasted pick. This does make the Diggs trade look better, assuming of course he doesn’t opt out. It’s a sad state when these guys have literally less risk than a life ending accident, driving to the grocery store, of contracting the virus and even less of real consequences, but are they are “worried” about the season. This is some media spread paranoia and union bull#### all wrapped into one. Then again, maybe all those concussions really have started to take a toll... -

Alexander open to returning to Bills

I guarantee he’s still strong enough to throw 225 over his shoulder and run. That is one athletically gifted man, if he wanted to come back to the team in any form, I would be all for it. That said, I hope he goes home and enjoys life for a couple years at least, he definitely has earned it. -

Am I the only one sick of the DAK

But, was it? Take a look at SB winning teams and look at the RESOUNDING number of them that have QBs on a rookie deal or way under market value, then compare to the ones that have paid their QB the big deal. Looking back 10 years, you have multiple Brady Championships, where he was grossly under paid, the only ones remotely arguable are Denver and that’s really more to do with a crazy D that was all on their rookie deals. Go way back and find the young Aaron Rodgers before he got the super deal and the same for Breese. You have to have a TEAM to win, that’s created by getting more value than you are paying. Right now they have paid out a ton and if they lock in Dak, they have 60% of their cap tied into less than 10 guys, it’s not going to work. The ONLY justification for paying him what he wants is this is your only window before complete tear down and even with that, you hold the cards for 2 years. The Bills window is this year and next or they have to replace Allen. If he can’t step up, they will have to draft the next guy. They can’t pay him 35M for mediocre play and keep all the pieces around him. Thus far he isn’t even in the conversation for a top 10 QB, and outside of Buffalo he’s looked at as bottom half of the starters. Yet if they want to go forward with him (assuming he has some increased success) it’s going to be 35M plus. He’s not that kind of difference maker. We are here talking about a 3rd round QB who, regardless of Buffalo sentiment, has had a far better start to his career and the argument is they shouldn’t pay him. -

Well said. It’s obscene at this point, the white “W” on the Wisconsin Badgers uniform now has to be black? REALLY?! We now have to play the “black National Anthem”, interesting, I guess I wasn’t notified of the separate Country of America for black people. Sprite says the American dream forgot the black dream? Seriously? Other people of all colors still come from all over the world with nothing and not knowing the language and make themselves great lives, but blacks can’t participate in working for the American dream. Yeah, OK. The message being put out now is equality through segregation, way to blow up 60 years of progress. Soon they will tear down MLK statues because he worked with white people. I am holding out hope, but I swear, if they announce the playing of “The Black National Anthem” before week one, I’m done with the NFL for good. Enough pandering, check with Nike and DSG on how well it works out when you choose to cave to Liberal BS, something funny happens when you discriminate against Americans, you lose. The NBA and LeBron already lost me when they hushed the Rocket’s VP for saying He supported Hong Kong, because that would hurt their wallet, but they can’t shut up about free black people being oppressed in the US. Yeah, ok, all about principle, right? No, you don’t care about oppression, you care about what you perceive will make you money. -

Hasn’t been a factor since his contract year. What a waste of talent. -
It’s funny, my initial reaction was, “crap, they are back”, and I still think that COULD be the case. If he is healthy and can go full out, they are going to be trouble. Remember, Cam’s biggest threat was Ted Ginn and he won 15 games in a year. He’s everything we are hoping Allen can become when he’s healthy. The question is, is he healthy? If so, can he stay healthy?

ESPN+: Top 10 WRs according to league personnel
DCofNC replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can’t agree with Julio that low, he’s the best talent in the league, ring him for injuries, but nobody is a better pure WR talent. Also, I think Hopkins is the better talent, but Thomas had the best seasons WR has ever had with a back up for 5 games and a 40 yr old an, not saying Breese isn’t great, but he’s not the man he was. Really hard to argue against what Thomas did. -
Ngakoue Watch is officially on!
DCofNC replied to IgotBILLStopay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Love the talent, but the pick and money isn’t viable on this roster. They have 5 guys who are all making good money and are good players. To bring him in, you have to get rid of 2 and give up a premium pick and rely more on Eppenesa to be ready to role as a rookie. While I think Murphy is out, you would also have to look at Hughes going too, I don’t see it happening. Contracts for the D have been set up to work with Allen, the new contracts end with his, so they have the ability to either blow it up and start over if he busts or let a bunch of Vets go to sign him. With such a huge question mark, it’s tough to go pay big money to another guy, especially when you have to decide on Tre, Dawkins, Milano etc who all will be paid a hefty premium or have to be replaced with pretty high picks. -

ESPN+: Top 10 QBs according to league personnel
DCofNC replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have said it here before and just to make sure it’s heard, outside of Buffalo, Allen is still looked at for what he is, a project. He’s not even in the conversation for top 10, it’s not even close. He’s right where Turbiski was after year 2, the team won mostly inspire of him, with a handful of wow plays. If you aren’t blinded by Buffalhope, then you see it. Everyone here claiming Dak sucks because he has everything going for him and they can’t win the big games, in the next breath claimed you had to give Allen weapons for him to shine. It’s insane. He will have to step up or step out this year, no more excuses, you can’t have the improvement on hitting short passes at the cost of missing everything down field, that’s not how that works. The COMPLETE game has to start showing up. -
Unfortunately for KC, this means their window to win another championship just closed, it’s now and that’s that. They won’t be able to retain a lot of their talent, they have way too many big contracts already. It’s going to be a Green Bay type of deal in short order. Dak should be offering Maholmes and his agent some commission for the extra money they just made him. To me, this makes this year Allen’s absolute do or die year. If he can’t prove himself to be an elite QB, you have to look to the draft this coming year to replace him. You can’t commit 25+MM to him for year 5 if he’s not there after this year and you sure as hell cant be tossing 35MM plus for him annually at this level of performance. The worst thing to happen could be another year like last year where he flashes, but never puts it all together for more than a half. He’s got to show mastery of the fundamental throws this year and bring back his dual threat ability to make him worth keeping. If that doesn’t happen, you can’t lock up your salary cap for what he brings.
-
I was hoping for him, but Addison and drafting Epenesa basically killed that idea. You have about 30MM tied up in DEs already, not really looking to make that 40+ with no real studs.
