I for one don’t believe returning the same team that got smoked by a team that got better is the key to winning a SB. Then, I got thinking, Ford will be back, this is a big bad mofo, who is known for road grading. Does his experiment at RT being over, allow him to move inside and do what he does best? Just straight up maul people and open holes for the running game. Could he be the key to the run game getting on track and adding the dimension the O really needed last year? The passing game SHOULD be better, Sanders is at least a reasonable replacement for Brown, even if only from an availability standpoint. One would hope the TE does more this year. I expect a little more from Davis this year, Hodgins had a good camp and obviously, getting healthy for everyone would help. I’m looking for some additions in the draft as well. Also, Josh should take a few steps forward, so one would expect the passing game to be better. If the run game can come on, this team could be a LOT to handle. I’m hoping Ford might actually be that missing link.

The Ford at RT experiment is over, he can be the G everyone said he was, hopefully do it well and start creating some holes for the RBs that supposedly didn’t have any.

Analysis of Emmanual Sanders Film (Athletic, Joe B)

Hodgins length could work for him, if he can get off the line. whst drives me CRAZY watching Davis, he will jump for balls he doesn’t need to, it’s a terrible habit. Once you are off the ground you can’t do anything to stop a defender from just running you right off the field. It would be one thing if he were high pointing, he absolutely is not, he is jumping too early and giving up leverage, he has to fix it. He’s got some talent, enough so that I believe he could be the actual #2 of the team, but those little things are what separates the cuts from the good players and good from the greats. -

I still feel we need size and physicality more than Sanders, but he’s a good player. For me, this team should have no issue moving the ball between the 20’s the question is what happens when you are deep in your own end or hit the RZ? Guys that can physically whoop your @$$ are invaluable at that point, and there are none on this team outside of MAYBE Moss and JA, but I don’t want my QB as my hammer. IF Knox can become the JuggerKnox again on a consistent basis, a big portion of the issue goes away. Also, Davis needs to get WAY better at exploding to the ball, not jumping into catches and leaving himself open to being shoved around. If those two come on strong, oh boy do we have something, if not, it’s too easy to jam up the small WR core and slow this team down. -
The obvious case is, he was a top 10 player at his position at one point, but also obvious is the lack of time he has spent playing football lately. I don’t know what to make of him, but I’d say he’s worth a camp spot. If he forces you to keep him, awesome, if not, oh well.

Would Josh Allen ever consider a team friendly contract?
DCofNC replied to sirebors's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What would be cool is if he took a first of its kind deal where he gets a portion of the salary cap. I wrote out a possible scenario once, but something to the effect of a 10 year deal, he gets a 40M signing bonus, guaranteed money the first 3 years, he is locked to getting 16% of the salary cap for the team each year of the deal as his base pay, with incentives around, MVP, Playoff appearances, SB appearances, etc. He gets PAID, 40M to start, plus 29.12M based on this years cap, and presumably a base around 32 for next year, 34 the year after, and guessing but 35ish after that, all guaranteed so that gives him over $160M guaranteed in the first 3 years, plus he’s got an escalating contract by default with the cap, so he will never be playing for way too little. For the Bills, they get to know exactly what they can work with vs the cap, its always 4M (signing bonus be the cap), plus the percentage they agree to. If the cap explodes, he gets a better and better deal where it could easily exceed Maholmes, if it stays around where it is, the team has a little more to work with to keep competitive. If for whatever reason, he flips after the deal, it’s an easy out for the Bills the longer the deal carries out. Obviously, the numbers aren’t perfect, but something close to that could really work well for everyone. -
3rd easiest schedule next year according to Mike Clay
DCofNC replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Look, we all are still on cloud 9 over last year, but let’s be real here. The Pats re-loaded and are building a team that is our worst matchup, run heavy, TE passing game and a lot of pressure on the QB. They are going to win at least one against us this year. The Phins have done a nice job surrounding Brissett with weapons and I think they are a 10ish win team. Jets are a joke, but you never know with a new staff, MAYBE the QB comes to life, there is a good amount of talent there. KC is the best in the AFC N.O. Was carried by their D, no easy win. I just don’t buy that this is an “easy schedule” -
Would be a nice add, really would have liked to seen the Bills go hard after a real 1 tech this year, Star is average at best when he does play and he’s been off a year, really high likelihood he’s hurt in camp.
-
I’m not concerned either, let’s see if he makes the team first
-
He signed for the minimum, he’s not a lock at all. I wouldn’t risk him climbing onto a podium, dude is made of more fragile glass than Kolb or Goodwin. If it weren’t for injuries, sums up his career. Expect nothing from him so you aren’t disappointed.
-
If healthy, which is never, he’s pretty good, can be a returner too.
-
You don’t go to that scheme, especially with Jackson on a “prove it” deal. They have a legit 1 and don’t throw outside much at all, no thank you.
-
Fitz at this point is 37 years old and still able to play in the NFL. There’s just no way to expect him to be what he was in his prime, but I think any team would be pretty thrilled to have him as a #3 or 4, he’s a possession monster. AJ Green to me is the Clowney of WRs, he has accounted for a crazy number of tipped interceptions. He’s a flash play guy, but a guy I’m honestly not upset the Bills didn’t draft oh and he hasn’t been healthy in years. Then there is D-Hop, arguably the best in the game, so yeah, I’m with you, they aren’t in the conversation at this point in their careers.
-
I can see the argument for top 5, but to me, the Bucs are the easy #1. The Bills lack a physical presence, I really would have liked to seen them try to address it, but those guys and the money it takes to bring them in, don’t grow on trees. Going way back, they could have just taken Evans instead of Watkins, but those are days past. 3 #1s is a stretch, but they do have the most talented pair and a really good #2 playing as a #3. The argument could be made for them on just Lamb and Cooper alone, so I agree they definitely have to be considered in the conversation.
-
All things considered, I like it. I would have preferred a longer deal in hopes that he reaches his potential and we get a bargain, but whatever. He’s a helluva athlete, has next to nothing in experience and is producing at the very highest level of organized professional football, so I say he’s worth a shot.

Wouldn’t want a guy like that on the team, would make signing Sanders a mistake. -
I hope he sees more action this year

Maybe, maybe not, but I feel a whole lot better with Mitch than Barkley or Fromm. There’s no reason Mitch can’t be as good as Foles, he’s way more physically gifted and has had reasonable success as a starter. The way I see it, obviously you want Allen in there, but if he goes down for even a couple games, the guys we had behind him were almost a guaranteed loss (Fromm is an unknown so whatever you want to think there), and in a division where I expect it to take 11 wins or more to get a playoff birth, there’s very little room for error. You can build the rest of the team, but the key is the QB and we all know it. I don’t want a Dallas like implosion over here, I still want a chance to make the playoffs if Allen is out for any period of time. We now have that. The difference of 2.5M vs the cap is well worth that insurance. MT is a fringe starter at this point, with some elite traits, but ultimately, he’s a lower end starter. That’s a helluva backup.
-
He was the #2 pick, higher than Josh and has more starts.. clearly the right call.
-
You wanted to roll with Fromm as the only back up? I mean this is essentially what they paid Barkley for last year. How much more confidence is there in this team not being completely screwed if Allen misses a few games now?
-
I love it even more at that price. Great job to Beane.
