  1. Whoever is running the Raiders draft card to the stand must be swapping them out, it’s the only explanation.
  2. It’s the same to cut him, he’s gone, post June 1 designation.
  3. Yep, sure was. He might be just as good.
  4. I’m not worried about either. Wilson is playing for the Jets, therefore, unlikely to succeed at a high level. Jones may be fine, but there’s nothing about him that strikes fear into anyone. Wilson has pretty elite arm, but hasn’t faced real competition and is going to, let’s say it again, the Jets.
  5. If I’m not mistaken, Addison took a pay cut, not a restructure that locks him to us. Hughes is the only vet with consistent production, he’s here, AJE, Rousseau are locks, Obada is a load of potential, I don’t see him not keeping a spot, I personally think Johnson should have been out there more last year. To me you are sending Addison on his way.
  6. I was shocked JOK was there and more surprised we didn’t snag him. If he makes it to ~45, which I doubt, I hope Beaner goes after him, I’d give up this years and next years 2nd and 2 5ths for him. The pick we made seems like a lot of potential, I like it much more than AJE. Hopefully, this isn’t indicative that they realize the missed on him already.
  7. I don’t know how his game will translate, but his highlights are an awful lot like JJ Watt coming out. That would be a helluva find at 30. I think it says something they took him instead of JOK, who I thought was their perfect pick and a guy who could run with Kelce, I’m not sure I like it until I see him against NFL competition, but time will tell.
  8. Maybe that’s the real plan.
  9. Nah, the NFC is ripe fir the taking, good shot at a SB appearance this year with Rodgers, pretty unlikely with Love or Jimmy G. Also, if they thought love was ready to take them to the promised land, I’m sure it would have been an option, but you are asking them to give up one of the top 3 QBs in the game right now for one of the top 3 QBs (no clue which ones) in this draft, would you? Not this guy.
  10. Well if they get him, they have 2 of the top back up QBs in the league, going to be tough to prep for which one will be injured each week. Bellicheck strikes again!
  11. There is a very real concern that last year was a bit of a mirage, if you don’t want to believe the risk, take a look at #2 on our QB depth chart. That said, I believe JA showed last season that he can absolutely do everything you want him to do and he has elite capability. The difference between him and Mitch, Goff etc is the elite traits, both physically and what APPEARS to be mentally. As far as “developing” a QB at the NFL level, I think it all goes back to the first paragraph here. You have to start with somebody who has all the tools, and that includes the mental capacity to learn and apply the lessons. Those guys are rare, a guy who has that, plus all the physical gifts of Allen, damn near unheard of. There are lots of examples out there with one or the other or not quite enough of one to make it big. I think from a fan perspective, a lot of people get hyped about the athletic ability of QB prospects, while very important, it’s not the defining part that makes or breaks a QB. In fact, most of the greats, are limited athletes. The hard part is, how can one figure out the mental aptitude of the prospect? There is no real way. It’s great to know everything, but if you go Nathan Peterman on the first blitz, doesn’t matter. There are so really smart, really tough and exceptional “under pressure” guys who are the kings of the field. If you find a guy who just hasn’t been taught the nuances of the position, but possesses all the rest, you can develop that. That “it” factor is impossible to judge IMO and that’s what’s going to determine if you are Blake Bortles or Josh Allen.
  12. You are comparing one of the very best ever to Gabe Davis? C’mon man
  13. Let’s be honest, you don’t wait to take a QB, you think you see a guy who can be a franchise guy and nobody cares where you picked him if he hits. Case and point, who remembers what the Bills had to do to get up to take Allen? It was a small fortune to do it, but does anybody care? Nope. Maholmes wasn’t a lock for the first round according to many, going into the draft, fell to a team desperate for a QB who promptly traded back in one of the worst moves ever. The draft is a crapshoot in all honesty.
  14. Depends on the scenario, but there is a case for that too. Def going to get a fleeing the scene, still better than a DUI/DWI
  15. Well it could also be argued that players are constantly fined and suspended for non approved drugs in their system, so asking them to take an experimental vax is a real issue.
  16. Gotta be smart, go anywhere but home until you are sober.
  17. Yep, I have seen that scenario play out many times. Better to take that ticket than the UI charge.
  18. (Madden voice) Now here’s a guy who doesn’t understand NFL contracts.
  19. They invested on high returns.. end of story.
  20. I don’t think this is a comment on his contract at all. That said, I’m not going to be shocked when he does come for more. His production is way more than his current contract. A smart man, waits until the money is there, this is not the time.
  21. I think we need to shift our strategy to our talent if we aren’t going to change the pieces. This O line needs to move to a zone blocking technique if we are going to really run the ball. That said, the real answer may just be to commit to actually running the ball, not just when you think you can catch them off guard, like 3rd and 16.
  22. You are choosing to ignore the actual argument here. They hit on the QB and as has been said, he is carrying the underwhelming D that has had multiple top picks spent on it, with zero impact players. If you can’t see it, there’s no point in debating anything here anyway.
  23. They hit on one pick, the scoreboard says otherwise. But you go on being a homer. 3 drafts, one impact player from all of them. One. Well done, this was my thinking too. These guys are paid to rush the passer. He belongs in the MLB pay scale conversation. To me he’s not as valuable as Milano, so the discussion starts there. The next question is, with the contract that’s coming for JA, is there room for $20+ M a year in LBs who aren’t real difference makers? To this point, Edmunds is slightly above replacement level player and we are acting like he deserves to be paid top 5 at his position. Absolutely, unequivocally, he is not worth that. He is rivaling Clowney for most over rated player by fans and announcers alike because of his draft analysis. They were calling him the next LT, the only reason to bring him and Taylor up in the same conversation is to ask if LT is filing a defamation suit against ESPN for mentioning him in comparison to this guy. He’s a hell of an athlete, but he’s not a great football player. He has next to nothing in terms of instincts or feel for the game. Good qbs manipulate him so easily in coverage it’s a joke, he can’t shed blockers coming north/south and he can’t stay with TEs in coverage, so what exactly is it that he does to justify his hype? Paul Posluzney all over again. Go let somebody else pay you, we can do as well or better for far less.
  24. White was not a Beane pick and that could have been Maholmes, so let’s take a look at that. Signing a RT, drafting a starting LB and a kicker would not save your job. If they hadn’t gotten lucky as hell with Allen, they are already out the door. Ask Mitch Turbiski how things went in Chicago after his failed third year. The Bills were that close to being in the same spot. Luckily, Allen turned the corner, Mitch didn’t.
