  1. Really disappointed in the Edmunds news, not a good move from a simple financial options play. Beane does a lot of things right, but contracts is not his strongest suite. He has consistently over spent on mediocre talent, hope he gets better about it in the future.
  2. Yeah, this is always true. I hope he makes it hard to keep him off the field and maybe allows for one of the current tackles to be moved. He’s obviously got the physical talents to be great, the question becomes, will it translate?
  3. Yeah, but this isn’t a contributor for another 2 years, barring injury or real surprise move.
  4. Hmm, don’t see the need again here, but obviously he has some serious potential. Would have gone after the Cuse CB.
  5. Whoever is running the Raiders draft card to the stand must be swapping them out, it’s the only explanation.
  6. It’s the same to cut him, he’s gone, post June 1 designation.
  7. Yep, sure was. He might be just as good.
  8. I’m not worried about either. Wilson is playing for the Jets, therefore, unlikely to succeed at a high level. Jones may be fine, but there’s nothing about him that strikes fear into anyone. Wilson has pretty elite arm, but hasn’t faced real competition and is going to, let’s say it again, the Jets.
  9. If I’m not mistaken, Addison took a pay cut, not a restructure that locks him to us. Hughes is the only vet with consistent production, he’s here, AJE, Rousseau are locks, Obada is a load of potential, I don’t see him not keeping a spot, I personally think Johnson should have been out there more last year. To me you are sending Addison on his way.
  10. I was shocked JOK was there and more surprised we didn’t snag him. If he makes it to ~45, which I doubt, I hope Beaner goes after him, I’d give up this years and next years 2nd and 2 5ths for him. The pick we made seems like a lot of potential, I like it much more than AJE. Hopefully, this isn’t indicative that they realize the missed on him already.
  11. I don’t know how his game will translate, but his highlights are an awful lot like JJ Watt coming out. That would be a helluva find at 30. I think it says something they took him instead of JOK, who I thought was their perfect pick and a guy who could run with Kelce, I’m not sure I like it until I see him against NFL competition, but time will tell.
  12. Maybe that’s the real plan.
  13. Nah, the NFC is ripe fir the taking, good shot at a SB appearance this year with Rodgers, pretty unlikely with Love or Jimmy G. Also, if they thought love was ready to take them to the promised land, I’m sure it would have been an option, but you are asking them to give up one of the top 3 QBs in the game right now for one of the top 3 QBs (no clue which ones) in this draft, would you? Not this guy.
  14. Well if they get him, they have 2 of the top back up QBs in the league, going to be tough to prep for which one will be injured each week. Bellicheck strikes again!
  15. There is a very real concern that last year was a bit of a mirage, if you don’t want to believe the risk, take a look at #2 on our QB depth chart. That said, I believe JA showed last season that he can absolutely do everything you want him to do and he has elite capability. The difference between him and Mitch, Goff etc is the elite traits, both physically and what APPEARS to be mentally. As far as “developing” a QB at the NFL level, I think it all goes back to the first paragraph here. You have to start with somebody who has all the tools, and that includes the mental capacity to learn and apply the lessons. Those guys are rare, a guy who has that, plus all the physical gifts of Allen, damn near unheard of. There are lots of examples out there with one or the other or not quite enough of one to make it big. I think from a fan perspective, a lot of people get hyped about the athletic ability of QB prospects, while very important, it’s not the defining part that makes or breaks a QB. In fact, most of the greats, are limited athletes. The hard part is, how can one figure out the mental aptitude of the prospect? There is no real way. It’s great to know everything, but if you go Nathan Peterman on the first blitz, doesn’t matter. There are so really smart, really tough and exceptional “under pressure” guys who are the kings of the field. If you find a guy who just hasn’t been taught the nuances of the position, but possesses all the rest, you can develop that. That “it” factor is impossible to judge IMO and that’s what’s going to determine if you are Blake Bortles or Josh Allen.
  16. You are comparing one of the very best ever to Gabe Davis? C’mon man
  17. Let’s be honest, you don’t wait to take a QB, you think you see a guy who can be a franchise guy and nobody cares where you picked him if he hits. Case and point, who remembers what the Bills had to do to get up to take Allen? It was a small fortune to do it, but does anybody care? Nope. Maholmes wasn’t a lock for the first round according to many, going into the draft, fell to a team desperate for a QB who promptly traded back in one of the worst moves ever. The draft is a crapshoot in all honesty.
  18. Depends on the scenario, but there is a case for that too. Def going to get a fleeing the scene, still better than a DUI/DWI
  19. Well it could also be argued that players are constantly fined and suspended for non approved drugs in their system, so asking them to take an experimental vax is a real issue.
  20. Gotta be smart, go anywhere but home until you are sober.
  21. Yep, I have seen that scenario play out many times. Better to take that ticket than the UI charge.
  22. (Madden voice) Now here’s a guy who doesn’t understand NFL contracts.
  23. They invested on high returns.. end of story.
  24. I don’t think this is a comment on his contract at all. That said, I’m not going to be shocked when he does come for more. His production is way more than his current contract. A smart man, waits until the money is there, this is not the time.
