How did Rousseau play against the Steelers?
DCofNC replied to GreggTX's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As a rookie in his first game, he was fine, the sad part is, he was the best we have seen across from Jerry in a long time and he basically graded out as a replacement player lol. He had some reasonable pressure, made one really great play on the run early as he forced it inside and shed the blocker to make the tackle for minimum gain. Really good to see those instincts and ability as a rookie. Overall, I see exactly why they took him. OTOH, Basham was invisible all day, it’s like he wasn’t even active 🤮 -
Can the Bills win a SB without a killer instinct
DCofNC replied to Rebel101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I do think they showed the instinct last season, the difference is they got their ass kicked the last 2 times they played. The O-line kinda sucks and the whole success of the offense lies 100% on Allen, if he isn’t on fire, they get smoked. That’s the formula many teams with Great QBs have failed with. You have to build a real team around a great QB for any kind of success. Thus far, it’s the Allen and Diggs show and not much else. Until the line can hold up against more than one decent pass rusher on the opposing team, it’s going to be tough. The Steelers are pretty loaded and they OWNED the line. Doesn’t matter how much killer instinct you have when you are getting run over. -
The 4th down play, executed properly

It was an awful play call regardless of the execution. -
A Few Thoughts about the Steelers Game, in no particular order
DCofNC replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is not good enough to be starting, he got beat like a drum yesterday and it’s not the first time we have seen it from him. Not going after a corner this off season looked highly questionable and still does. The Wallace PI call was interference, there’s no arguing it, he never played the ball and hit the receiver, can’t do it. The White holding call looked suspect at best. -

Oh I take full responsibility for calling Daboll a loser, his history shows as much, the only time he has ever done anything is with top 5 QBs and generally he excels vs weaker competition. Against D’s that don’t suck, even with great QBs, he’s always struggled, but his QB play has managed to cover him. The playoffs and as well as every game against top flight D’s, like today, exposed him. -

I don’t disagree that Daboll is a loser masked by great QBs, but that’s still not making Singletary a good back. -

Yeah, he’s been a replacement level player for 2 years, don’t need to see more to know what he is. -
Well I’m gonna second guess the whole game plan.

I will say the same weaknesses were there and they were exposed more today. Wallace is awful, with the occasional play made, except none came today. The line still is getting no pressure vs a brand new line. The OL got it handed to them. There’s still no RB on this team. Annnd there’s punting issues AGAIN. This team didn’t come to play, they sucked today. -
Yeah, he looked solid in preseason. Maybe it’s part of why Singletary rocked up too, his height should make him hard to find and he could bull it in too.

Pretty surprised honestly, guess Gilliam is really going to be the goal line hammer.

I know, it’s really disappointing. Allen’s arm is some next level stuff. Brady still zings it really well and insanely accurate, so impressive, especially at 56 years old.

That commercial is awesome.

So imagine if you will, your defense has to cover the most productive WR in the NFL last year, 2 other 1000 yard WRS (I’m giving it to Beas for last year) who thrive in the middle of the field, but who can both go outside, and a 2nd year guy who’s 6’-2” with 4.5 speed that’s already coming off a 600 yard rookie season.. oh amd everybody else… WTF do you do?

Something to keep an eye on: Point differential?
DCofNC replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Amen, I say make sure the game is out of reach for the opponent, don’t mess around. I want to see the Patriot mentality, be up by 21 in the 4th with 10 mins to go before you even consider taking out your QB and primary weapons. Every game counts, bury them. -

You have a valid point there. This is exactly why I want to see them go out and step on teams, don’t leave the window open. -

Nobody talks about point differential if you win a championship. The ring is all that matters. Just win. Last year the Bills played against some pretty garbage teams and did what they were supposed to do, beat the snot out of them. They need to continue to do that, don’t play down, that’s how you lose. This team needs to play like the Patriots did when they were dominating. Go out, strike fear in the hearts of your opponents, bury them and don’t apologize, especially to divisional opponents. Win as many as you can, stay hated/feared and try for that ring, that’s all that matters. Having teams feel like they have to be perfect to beat you, puts pressure on them, they usually crack under that pressure. -
If the Bills moved to Austin, I honestly don’t think it would hurt him. Cowboys fans are as rabid as Bills fans, the only difference is they still run around talking about winning SBs 30 years ago and we still get excited over losing 4 in a row. Neither team has had any real success since those times. If anything, I suspect it might up his profits because the Bills would have better revenue coming in, sorry Buffalo, you’re not exactly the model of a city that sports teams WANT to be in. Great fans, but no real money, nor national attention. I agree the Bills should stay and don’t want to see them go anywhere. That said, if the county won’t pony up, it might happen. I could see them moved to a number of places that could absorb the cost with little issue and benefit greatly from it. Austin, Raleigh, Toronto (that would be the end for me), even Columbus OH might be interesting. The truth of the matter is the major cities all pretty much have teams, so you are looking to pick a spot where you are splitting revenues or places that have already failed, so Buffalo makes pretty good sense to stay. Really selfishly, if they do move, Raleigh/Durham NC makes a ton of sense, it’s basically WNYSouth, and the amount of real money here would fill out the stadium in a heartbeat with corporate suites etc. It would be a huge win for everyone, except Buffalo of course. I’d also have them back in a quick drive radius, so I win 😂. Everyone would be taxed less, the weather sucks less and the players would likely be closer to their preferred areas to live. That said, the college fan base hasn’t been as quick to adopt a pro team in the south, so I’m not sure if it would be nearly as “fun”.

I took allen at 11 overall because the impact backs and WRs were gone. He was clearly the best available and IDGAF what the experts say, a QB that drops 45 TDs is worth more than a RB who scores 15 in most scoring systems. Once you are out of the top 5 QBs the drop off is big in terms of scoring. With Maholmes off the board and 7Rbs gone, and Adams and Diggs off the board, I’m ok with taking the best available. I still wound up with a pretty stacked roster, not loving my RBs, but there wasn’t much left.

A few more years of this production, I don’t think it’s a question, he’s been arguably the best player in the league fit the last 3 years. If he stays in the top 5 for even 2 more years, and remains a big contributor for a couple after that, no debate to me, best ever. Bruce and Reggie had strong runs at the top of the league and also had a long run in the league as excellent players. At this point, Donald doesn’t have the tenure form me to crown him, but he may over take them.

I know this is hard for me as a Bills fan to grasp and perhaps even harder for the haters, but this Bills team has taken the step from “team you don’t want to play” to a top 5 team in the league. This is obviously in large part because of Allen taking an enormous leap and he’s showing no sign of slowing down. The Bills should be a favorite at home vs any team in the league and only really even be considered the underdog vs KC at Arrowhead (as of last season). I’m not saying the Steelers don’t have a chance, but this is a team you are going to come into the game knowing, you have to be perfect to beat because they will score a lot in a hurry, from anywhere on the field. Allen has to be absolutely infuriating for opposing D’s, he’s just never out of it. I love having that on our team for once lol. Now to my eye, KC is still the better team, but the Bills could take that step up IF the D-Line can generate consistent pressure and still contain the run, they can not afford to sell out to one or the other as they had to do a lot last year. It worked well enough against more 1 dimensional teams, but it was not enough against the dynamic teams, namely KC. They will also need a big step up by the LBs and a little more solid play from the secondary. Lastly, any sort of threat from the TE position in the passing game and obviously some more success in the run game would be a help to round out the team. I think the run game will be ok this year, they really sold out to the pass last year and the scheme kinda sucked for the backs, I’m hoping to see some more looks where we spread out and then hammer the run. Implementing some formations that give the backs more space should help get them going and keep the D a bit more honest. I think Daboll did a great job last year, there are areas he can take it up a notch this year and I believe he has to be aware of it. -

Disappointing, but I hope he gets a shot there and makes the most of it.
