  1. I hear you, but it seems like the Bills are seriously considering dropping Taylor. So if that occurs? This thread was more about what do we do if the Bills decide to do this. But I also think it puts some perspective on where we stand if we do end up cutting Taylor. We stop asking the question can Taylor be a franchise QB and we start asking the question can we find a serviceable QB. An upgrade from Taylor likely isn't happening next season.
  2. I'm surprised by some of the reactions here. We look like we might be moving on from Tyrod. I'm not here debating if that makes sense or not. It seems possible, potentially more likely than not. If we do and we don't do anything but hope the draft or Cardale solves this we likely are looking at 5-11 season or worse. I don't want that and judging by this thread nobody else does either. So let's look at the FA list at QB from a realistic perspective. Cousins isn't going to be available, any and all options are flawed. We aren't going to be signing our franchise QB. Whoever we have a chance at signing will have some issues. So out of all the potentials that are realistic show me an option better than Hoyer. I don't see one. I also love Tony Jefferson at SS from Arizona who is only 24 and coming off his best year. The Cardinals are cap pressed and he likely hits the market. As far as QB, we always see cuts so maybe somebody more suitable than Hoyer becomes available, but as of now he seems like a great hold over option. Maybe this thread helps put in perspective where we end up at if we do in fact cut Taylor?
  3. The first sentence says if the Bills do not retain Tyrod. So if they don't who is the starter? Are we going to start a guy as green as Cardale or a rookie? I don't see it. We need a vet for a temporary period. If it's not a trade or Tyrod who is your guy?
  4. If we don't keep Tyrod we need a veteran presence to compete with Cardale or a potential draft pick. Hoyer is injury prone but has shown some positive things when healthy. QB rating in the 90's in 17 starts the last two years with 25 TD's to 7 INT's. 4 starts this year, before breaking his arm early in his 5th start vs GB. 4 full games games, all over 300 yards passing, 3 games with 2 TD's, no picks. He got his shot with Cleveland, Houston, and Chicago. Not exactly juggernaut offenses. Stat line is trending up fast. I would love to bring Hoyer into the competition.
  5. I'm not in the group that thinks Tyrod is a franchise guy, but unless you want to go into rebuild mode next year you retain him. We still have a playoff window next year. We can back out of the deal with little pain when we want to move on. During the time we explore our remaining playoff window we draft and focus on finding a viable replacement for Tyrod. Tyrod leaves a lot to be desired, but he's a huge contributor to our success on the ground. We can make a run with him if all other phases are clicking. Yes that's a lot to ask from this team with how things appear but not compared to expecting this team to do anything in the future if we drop TT this year and don't have a viable replacement.
  6. Couldn't agree more. Not slamming Sammy as much as it is respect for Moulds. In an era without gaudy WR stats Moulds almost surpassed 10,000 yards receiving. He had multiple dominant years. Very underrated. Great size, in his prime he could stretch the field. Sammy has the potential to surpass Moulds with his talent level, but he's got a ways to go.
  7. Not sure to what extent college helps or not. I agree with Yolo that most Big Ten players will see a snow game. Perhaps more important, higher rates of players attend campuses they live near. I think it matters more where the player grew up vs went to college. You play so much ball before you even reach College. If you come from the Midwest you certainly get a respect for snow and play in it, practice in it, etc. Now would I draft a player around this? If everything was equal sure. Probably wouldn't let that sway me into drafting a player. I did enjoy the early 90's teams though. Excellent players, excellent in the elements. It was hell for teams to play us late in the year back then.
  8. If you dig more into the history of Rodgers and his family the rift supposedly started back when Rodgers was alleged to be in a gay relationship with roommate Kevin Lanflisi. In regards to that story it has some odd time lines and interactions that give it some plausibility. The angling on the gay /family rift together basically have Rodgers having a falling out with his family over being gay. Then Rodgers having a falling out with Lanflisi over his unwillingness to come out. Then once his new fling started the rumor was Rogers was having his PR people blast him and his new hottie boom all over the internet to dispel rumors. Lanflisi and his family haven't spoken to him since (as the story goes). I could care less if it's true or not. Lanflisi does have some pretty odd twitter posts involving Rodgers for somebody who is just friends. If Rodgers is gay it's a shame it's still something that would hurt a family as much as it has in this instance.
  9. The outlook at RB isn't a position you pay for isn't always true. McCoy is a special player. The devalued market at his position allows him to provide plenty overall value at his contract number. He's always reminded me of Gale Sayers. I really want to see him in a Buffalo blizzard late in the year. He can keep his footing in an uncanny way in the elements. I remember this game very clearly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEXaZ4jrgjI
  10. Woods is a great blocker, only 24, and he's a great route runner. I would also say he's shifty, physical, and determined. He's more of a crosser and underneath guy. Taylor has shown very little ability to utilize him until the Seattle game. I'm putting that more on Taylor as so many All-22's show Woods open. He is a very good receiver. Worth that type of money. I don't know how he stays though. He has quietly expressed discontent about his role the last two years. Tyrod is not the QB to make him look good nor is this offense. He probably has another contract coming in the 27/28 age range. Put him with the right QB and system and he's a 1,000 a year guy.
  11. His game isn't built for "clutch" drives. It's built for big plays and game management. He makes big plays with his legs, arm, and improvisation. He rarely allows his team to get beat in the turnover battle. That combination is enough for him to be the best or among the best post playoff drought QB's we have had. It is enough to make the playoffs and even win a Super Bowl so long as he has an incredible complimentary squad. He is not to ever going to be a franchise guy in a traditional sense. He will always struggle to win with his arm and be consistent enough in execution to sustain game winning drives in clear passing situations. Not worth 20 million+ in my opinion. At the same time we will likely hurt as a result of his departure more than we gain. Blaming him as often as we see lately would indicate to me most people think he is hurting is. He isn't hurting us. His predecessor likely will hurt us. That said he isn't helping a great deal either. He provides a chance to win every game. That's what he does.
  12. I refuse to let go. Like most, this team has tortured my soul and whenever I do let go it seems to be exactly the time they falter. Having said that, Rex deserves a lot of credit for what Buffalo has been able to accomplish so far this year. This is not an "in spite of" situation, he has been one of the primary reasons for the teams turn around. What say you? Give the man some love, wait and see, or eternal hate?
  13. You resign Zach, wait and see on Ragland and ask that question about Brown
  14. This isn't a game we typically win. At some point you gotta give Rex credit. Especially that defense. It only seems to be getting better as the offense stays on the field and shows some life.
  15. While this point of view is commonly expressed it's never been quantified or measured as far as I'm aware. I'm certain it would be easy to point out situations in which the exact opposite occurred. Not trying to sound like a d-bag, just a lot of deduction based on little actual evidence.
  16. Yes......my brother is an ICE officer. On commercial flights he just walks up and shows credentials. He boards the plane like everybody else but he always has a loaded gun. Surprised me the first time I flew with him. I'm like dude, they just let you on the plane with that thing? "Yes, in his sarcastic tone". I imagine it's pretty common to have multiple guns on one flight given Federal agents can carry when both working and not working. The second portion can't be true. The first portion could be true. Please don't ask me to find my source. My brother has flown with me on multiple commercial flights and it's faster for him to get on a plane with a gun then it is for me to get thru screening. All he does is show credentials. None of the 2nd portion have ever been valid in our flights together. Both were from Detroit Metro to Las Vegas.
  17. Right. I like how it sets up for us, getting them off a loss to ARZ might have had them slightly more focused. That said, no way we should be favored in this one. The Bills are +3/-3 away/home against 75% of the league right now. Rams probably have the best DL in football.
  18. He's so perfect for this system. Rex's defense is designed for ILB's to run sideline to sideline and not get disrupted by OL. He is the fastest MLB in the NFL, he ran a 4.45 at the combine and broke North Carolina's record for the 60 meter dash in college. At over 240 pounds he ran track for UNC. Crazy athlete.
  19. IF Shaq and Ragland get healthy and pan out, can you imagine that LB core? Dear god..
  20. He had a great rookie year with good pedigree coming out of the 2nd round. Last year was his return year after missing all of 2014. He had a good 2015, but not like his rookie year in which he had career high's across the board. 92 TKL's, 5.5 Sacks, 3 INT's, 2 TD's as a rookie. He's only 26 and this is likely the first season off the Pec injury in which he feels like he's in top form. He's trending toward 208 combined tackles which would more than double his rookie numbers. I will assume we will make every attempt to retain him. He's playing at a pro bowl level.
  21. Brissett will not pass for over 150 yards in this game. BB needs turnovers and a quick start to focus on the run. He didn't get either. Unless they beat themselves the Bills have this one.
  22. In regards to the comments Sammy made, he was young, frustrated, and used a poor choice of words. No grudge here. That said, I actually disagree. Money won't always give you back your health and money can't be used to buy extra years. I wouldn't take a big pay day to play professional football. If poverty was my alternative, perhaps, but I'm sure plenty of people on the forum make enough to feel the same way. Enough being not having to be rich. Just enough.
  23. I went on a rant, but I don't think what I said was completely without merit. We have a lot of conditional talent right now, which is why I think I feel uneasy about the roster. Sammy is elite, can he give us consistency at that status? Dareus is elite, can he avoid another suspension? Gilmore is very good to elite, will we retain him? Kyle Williams is on the back 9 Richie is on the back 9 McCoy is very good, but also expensive and trending down for a few seasons now Aaron Williams will need to play for awhile for us to think he can stick. Everybody loves his intensity, but his concussion and injury issues make him very volatile. Clay plays stiff. He had one good season with Miami, one average season with us. Maybe a new offensive approach allows him to show more, until that point he's above average but not currently a difference maker So when you look at the nucleus of the team, Glenn, Darby, and Hughes are probably the only rocks we have. I'm hopeful Shaq and Ragland can join that group, maybe Miller can too. I just get freaked out over that. Most of our nucleus has something hanging over them that makes them contributing or maintaining a high level of play a question mark.
  24. I think people that say how long they have been bills fans with their handle are insecure about being fans
