  1. I made a post about this back then and got scorched for it. Then again that was an ugly week of posting. Most peoples opinions on here at the time was it shouldn't have been called. Which I agreed with, but my point was it was a rule and was being called all year in that spot. So it should have been called.
  2. With QB/WR/CB contracts making up such large % of the cap. That's if you're even lucky enough to be in that position with a QB. Now put yourselves in the shoes of teams that don't have a clear QB. Do you really try and model teams like Buffalo? It took us 20 years to find a QB and plenty of wasted draft capital in the process. The league is always evolving and I can't help but think we are at a crossroads with the way teams go about building. We saw Baltimore take Lamar with this type of mindset. They had no intention of running a traditional NFL offense. Ironically, they very well could end up paying a traditional franchise QB price tag. Then New England last year. Both franchises really did not place a big focus on the traditional passing game. Spend resources in areas other teams aren't. Run the football and play great defense. This has been enough to allow playoff appearances by both teams but that is as far as it's gotten. Perhaps that's as far as it can go. All I know is if I'm in the AFC right now I'm looking at about a dozen teams that have a nuclear bomb and I don't know if my goal is to keep up with that arms race. I think I have a better chance fighting this battle differently. Is this something you expect we will see championed by more teams in the coming years? More teams essentially reverting back to more of a traditional football strategy?
  3. I'm from the Detroit burbs originally and was actually happy to see they would be featuring the Lions. I think Campbell is more than just a meat head coach. He's certainly learning on the job but the Rex comparisons are not accurate. Lions players would run through a wall for the guy, in a real way. They played competitive football when they shouldn't and didn't stop. They need a serious talent upgrade. Detroit also shares a lot with Buffalo. For a very long period of time we were the two teams in the NFL with insane playoff droughts. Both teams won championships but never a Super Bowl. Both areas are pretty blue collar on the great lakes. Both teams have very loyal fans. Even if I wasn't from the area I would rather watch something on Detroit than say Dallas, Pittsburgh, Vegas or some other NFL fan favorite BS.
  4. I think it's pretty obvious teams just don't want to put themselves in the same position Cleveland didn't want to be in. Namely having to payout a big contract to a guy they aren't sure is the guy. Why would any team want to trade resources just to put themselves in that position? If he gets released I think at that point we will see a lot of teams interested. Then he can sign more of a prove it deal.
  5. I have bet on a ton of Iowa State games in the last 5 years, likely because Matt Campbell seems to do so well in the 2nd half of the season and his teams seem to always fly under the radar. I watched a lot of David Montgomery and then his predecessor, Breece Hall. While I liked both players, I feel Montgomery played faster than his 40 and Hall slower with Montgomery being a much more physical back. Hall is still a good player, but can I say he is better within 10 yards than Motor? Further, do I think his 4.39 really matters at the next level? No on both accounts. I just don't see how he warrants a selection by us early. We are better off with our current puff puff give than adding another guy to it.
  6. Why did you say those names....... Ryan Denney
  7. Can set the edge in the run game, we have shown a weakness in that area against higher end run teams since his departure.
  8. Let us also not forget the rich history they had in Cleveland
  9. Understood, but many did not do what St. Louis did nor feel it was the correct way to go about it. I feel you go for high end talent, curious other takes.
  10. Kyle Pitts crossed my mind the other day when considering the above. Pitts, from my eye and many others was considered a can't miss once a decade TE. He looked the part at Florida. We had no need to trade draft picks to go after such a player but one could argue that type of elite talent would have been the difference maker in multiple games last season. It was sort of like when Moss went to New England. When you're close the value of an elite player is even more magnified. As teams get closer to winning the SB I feel it makes sense to shift resources from building a foundation towards high end talent. Those resources are cap usage and draft picks. We saw this with St Louis but that's not really why I suggest this. More a curiosity if we see the Bills change things up and take this approach.
  11. If each year the % of money allocated to each position rises, then it would seem like the only reason to not rush signing extensions would be player health and desire to take advantage of rookie contracts. Buffalo has been exceptional in this area, specifically with Josh. His deal will feel like a discount in a few years. Tre being a potential example of why you wait, but how can we really say this? Do you risk alienating a player and build a bad culture by always milking the rookie deal as long as possible? Some teams do. This brings me to an interesting hypothetical. Say they never extended White, activated his 5th year option, and he suffers this injury. What do you do now? I imagine we would have franchised him with no injury if we went with the above. No idea what would happen now.
  12. I’ve wanted legalized betting for a long time and have been involved in that scene most my life. My honest opinion at this point is I’m concerned. People are asking me about what I’m doing that would have never asked before. Many have families. I’ve been scaling back drastically over the last 5 years, just seeing the issues it can create. I was actually profitable, but it was taking a lot of my time and focus away from areas it should have been. Life is too short to chase sports bets. If you can place bets with no distractions and no consequences financially so be it. That is very few people. The risk isn’t that you lose when you start doing this. The risk is that you win. I still believe in the freedom of having a choice on this topic, it’s just slippery. Certainly never expected this type of backing from pro sports.
  13. I think people need to understand the version of Gronk we are pursuing. As he has gotten older one of two things happened, maybe even both. He has matured or he understands his previous persona doesn't age well. If you listen to interviews last year this was a much more refined Gronk. I would also have to think Tre and other Bills would be supportive of the move if the front office is. It's not like we have a history of spending on poor teammates. As Bills fans we don't like him for a lot of reasons, that said does he help us win? Yes. Will he be a distraction/juvenile type player we have seen in the past? No. Get it done
  14. It's nice when one of the first posts is the best post. So say he does go off, we just don't have top end money to allocate to that position. Even if we did, his injury history would make me permanently hesitant.
  15. I think we need more white people appalled at the racism they're subjected to in Umurica. Maybe they should form a group or something.
  16. 😄 Even for like a few months
  17. Really been that way for a long time at this point. Carr, Baker, LJ? I don't want to make a decision on any of them
  18. I drove to Cincy for the game. Chick I'm seeing is down that way. Love the town, but like you said, outside Cincinnati, just not much going on. You have the normal suburbs you tend to see outside metro areas but that's about it.
  19. From the Detroit area. I think this shows what Lions fans could be to other city's. They love Stafford, it's Big 10 country, lot of football fans. Not the level of die hard Buffalo shows, but hard to tell what really exists when a team has literally never been good. One playoff win in the Super Bowl era. Some really good players for that awful of a record as well. Barry, Megatron AND Stafford.
  20. What sucks and this might have also been pointed out. It would seem statistically probable that a good old boys network has an undercurrent in the NFL. If this is based on air Flores didn't exactly help the cause to make things better.
  21. I see it the same as far as the attorneys. Hello Mr. attorney, do you think I should file a discrimination lawsuit against the NFL? Options A) Yes Option B) Perhaps you should take a week or two and evaluate your options, we can file this lawsuit at anytime It's almost comical to think what the answer would be.
