  1. You do remember how he looked in Buffalo's home opener with Bledsoe? Brady was a different player when he got hit.
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91ttCz7Dbc4 Try and really understand how a QB feels when this can happen and this is just one. It's not even the most famous. TB never got hit like this once in the pocket. I think people are underestimating it. Also consider the defensive holding rules and how that would impact Brady's 1.5 second release which further prevented him from getting hit. He wouldn't have those options if he played in Montana's time. The point of this thread was consider different variables being applied to Brady. Not rehash the same things that have been discussed. Clearly TB is the Goat based on the normal logic. That said I do really wonder how things would have went for him if he played in a different time. We will never know.
  3. Ya, I mean, to even touch on Young or the post Montana 49ers is pointless. Young was a HOF QB no matter what team he played for. His experience in TB barely even counts. He played 5 games his rookies year and most of a season then was traded. Further, it is not as if Brady had nothing. BB has taken multiple teams since Brady left to contending with us late in the year. He has no talent on that roster which is largely his own doing but the guy can flat out scheme defenses. Better than any coach in NFL history. Again, I have no problem given Brady the nod. But even in Tampa he had a ton of talent. They both won with help, Montana had more, but whose to say what came first, his supporting cast being elite or him making them elite.
  4. If Brady left and handed it off to Steve Young they would still be winning Super Bowls. He can be a great player and so can Montana. That tandem has never really been replicated before. So if that's grounds for diminishing performance, pretty stupid IMO. With that logic any scrub that gets followed by a worse scrub gets elevated. Still a scrub.
  5. Young played his first two years in the league for Tampa, who at the time was one of the worst teams in the league. I think it's a bit short sighted to just site sports medicine/nutrition as the reason Brady played longer. Look at some of the hits QB's took in the 80's. No amount of medicine or nutrition would allow the body to hold up. The fear of taking those shots and being concussed over and over as Joe was certainly would impact any player. At the end of the day I can't dispute giving the nod to Brady but so many better reasons then some of the things being discussed.
  6. Dumbest argument ever, he handed it off to a future hall of famer. Lots of ways to debate this, discussing Steve Young performing well is not close to one of them.
  7. Thanks, disregard my message (I DM'ed you). This is the info I found online as well. I'm familiar with that area so good deal. Appreciate the kindness!
  8. I'm going to moving there in a few weeks. Not sure if the group I see on the internet is still very active. It's hard to tell. Any of you members or aware of any groups in that area?
  9. The talking heads get to the Goat conversation a lot with basketball. If they don't give it to MJ, the argument typically is depends on the era. Which if you watched NBA in that era, it was a physical game. It's hard to even recognize today's game compared to it. I watched a lot of early 90's NFL as well but just got back into a binge kick of 80's / 90's classics. I can't help but think, why do we never hear the era argument in debating the NFL's Goat conversation? For all the Jim Brown fans, lets just keep this to QB for the sake of this post. Towards the end of his career Montana was basically a concussion time bomb. Over a decade of just brutal hits. He ultimately played his last game against us in the AFC championship and was knocked out. Corrected, he retired a year after the Bills game... When you look at Brady, about the only thing that ever seemed to bother him was being hit. Further, not being hit is precisely what allowed him to do what he did as long as he did. For some time at this point I conceded the Goat title to Brady not really pausing to ask if all things were equal. Watching some of these games and the hits in them. I just don't know how Brady would hold up against this. I know this is a Bills board and many like to dismiss Brady and what he has done, but what is your take on this? Doing your best to put your anti TB feelings to the side, do you think he could have done more than Joe if he played in the 80's and early 90's? Defensive holding not being the same. The insane physicality. Actually a decent amount to unravel on this topic. Factoring era in I have to give the nod to Montana.
  10. @Billl It seems like you want to play both sides on this. In one post you’re saying this is only about money to this point. In another you start talking about future contract earnings being higher. Teams have been able to pursue him and they haven’t (not a good look) If he signs the franchise deal he will be a year older the next chance he has at this (not a good look) If he signs the franchise deal he is even a minor injury away from really risking his payday as he’s already shown issues with injuries (and will be a year older) I would keep the argument only on “up until now”. Outside that, almost no path exists to him making more money next year. He would have to ball The F out next year, avoid injury, and show he can excel in a passing system. It’s very risky. Look at what Romans QB’s have done in the past and what they do after. Tyrod and Kaep made the pro bowl 😂
  11. Pats and the Colts have been the best at defending him since Mahomes became Mahomes
  12. That 99 defense had Bruce, Phil, and Washington. It was arguably the best defense in Bills history and that team, arguably goes to the Super Bowl that year if it wasn’t for MCM.
  13. It's a negotiation. We won't know until it's over. Can you show us the path in which you feel this has increased his value?
  14. Out of the 14 teams that have played him 3 times or more since 2018 a few stand out All stats are 2018 or later, minimum 3 games against, playoffs included, 14 qualifying teams, stats are all per game averages Patriots = 3 games, 2nd in Catch %, 1st-Tie in Receptions, 1st in yards, 1st-Tie in TD's Indy = 3 games, 1st in Catch %, 1st-Tie in Receptions, 6th in yards, 3rd-Tie in TD's Denver = 10 games, 4th in Catch %, 3rd-Tie in Receptions, 2nd in yards, 6th in TD's Buffalo = 5 games, 8th in Catch %, 12th-Tie in Receptions, 10th in yards, 13th in TD's Indy has had a very good defense during this time. Darius Leonard has been an all pro LB nearly the entire time for them. New England is just a good scheme team. Denver has also been very good on defense and has played more man defense than most teams during this time. Kelce also appears to be better against zone than man, ranking 8th in yards per route vs zone and 26th vs man.
  15. Very good write up. Love the UDFA / QB comparison, so accurate. I watched 4-5 games, not as much as you, but enough to not really think of him at this level. So to see where he is being slotted, my mind is just blown.
  16. I mean, maybe this technique could work. Maybe it completely backfires. I assume it's more likely the latter given several teams could do this each year and none really have ( have they ever ? Drafting a QB with only intent to flip?). Maybe you're onto something they aren't, but I don't know. I think you assume Buffalo has the power from a negotiation stand point with something like this. I don't think we should make that assumption. If you did this you're working against the clock as far as this years draft capital and recovering your assets. If you don't recover higher capital and things move into the next year, I don't know what scenario he would be worth more. He isn't playing, so developing, in reality or the eyes of others seems limited. I think we would see this technique more if it was likely to produce a good result.
  17. A Kazakhstan beat reporter was talking about his last night I'm not sure if that's the path Tom Brady's footballs
  18. I don’t think most on here ever thought we weren’t a very good team. We just want a Super Bowl and are concerned at how the season has ended the last few years and if we can get over the hump with the systems we have in place, the coaches, and certain areas of the roster. I really don’t think most on here care anymore about regular season wins (I agree they should, as I think breaking thru in the playoffs is best served by getting there a lot, it just hasn’t happened yet)
  19. I don’t want him, but he did play under BB in New England. I don’t think BB would have a guy playing for him that can’t be a team player. If we really cared that much about a #3 he would probably be among the better ones in the league even at his age.
  20. I mean, he was the lowest rated passer in the entire conference with at least 200 attempts. Tennessee was one of the worst defenses in the SEC. He had over 40 attempts that game. Utah, he had 170 yards passing. Georgia was mop up duty as he got mopped up. Watching him, it was just a guy running around and playing outside of the playbook. Josh really is a unicorn when it comes to hit rate of this type of profile and he wasn't playing for the Florida Gators. I just don't get it. I understand how physically talented he is but that's all he is. Throw Levis in the same discussion. Kentucky was a power run team. Levis was a decent college QB, but that's all. How desperate has this become? I just don't think in past years these players would be slotted like this.
  21. Anthony Richardson wasn't good against above average teams at Florida. How is he going to be good in the NFL?
  22. I didn't even know we did it until somebody pointed it out. I figured we got it from you guys 🤣
