Beasley claims Dak is "best leader he ever played with by far"...
Mikie2times replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm in the major minority here, but just because a guy is likeable, physical, and says the right things, hardly makes him a guy you will storm the beaches for. I don't know what kind of leader Josh is or isn't. But I think the people who are just assuming Beasley is throwing shade are no more likely to be right than the people who aren't. Personally, I don't see Josh as an Alpha type natural leader. A guy that takes command when the chips are down. Walks the sidelines holding people accountable when mistakes are made. He might have shown glimpses. But I don't see it being who he naturally is. I have seen what it looks like when somebody is just built that way and as I said, that quality has nothing to do with playing prowess. I do think a guy like Josh can grow into it more. It's like all things. Some of it is natural and some of it is developed. -
Is this year make or break for McDermott?
Mikie2times replied to CountDorkula's topic in The Stadium Wall
I see nearly zero chance we would move on from him this season. That said, he can make next year very hot depending on how this year unfolds. -
Help me understand the Ken Dorsey hate
Mikie2times replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
Allen is a very aggressive QB. If you look at when he really shined with Daboll, it's when we started dialing up a lot of underneath throws and check downs to the RB's. It gave the offense rhythm. It also opened up more of those aggressive downfield throws naturally. The 2021 playoff run was a perfect example of this. We basically gave Dorsey a Corvette and he wanted to add more horsepower when he couldn't drive it as is. It doesn't need to be faster. We don't need to build the most aggressive offense in football with Josh Allen. Josh will already make it that by himself. He is plenty fast, doesn't need any more horsepower. The million dollar question is how much of it was not having a solid version of Beasley underneath? But my issue with that logic is we also failed to utilize Knox and the RB's in the passing game. So then it becomes, was it Allen's elbow? I don't know about that. All I know is the vertical passing game played into all of our weaknesses with the offensive line and a QB who will make a mistake if you let him just rip it all game. I guess we will see this year if Dorsey can keep the car on the road. -

The Allen-Diggs Relationship in Decline?
Mikie2times replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall
1. Maybe he thinks Allen has let success go to his head a little 2. Maybe he thinks he isn't getting the ball enough 3. Maybe the best friend thing was more played out than what it actually was 4. Maybe Diggs has no control over his emotions 5. Was going to be maybe this is nothing, but I don't think it's literally nothing anymore. It might amount to nothing long term, but it's not nothing. Pride and ego, it can get pretty damn complicated. Plenty of people never learn to manage either and it's been causing problems with relationships since the beginning of time. I'm all but certain whatever "it" is, results from that. The tricky thing with pride and ego is you can get past things for awhile, only to deal with a breakdown again. I don't know if we can say "all good". We will see.... -
It's a crazy record. 14 games.

As I said in the last thread on this topic. Ditka still holds the rookie record for a TE at 1,071 yards, which has survived for 61 years.

Miami Super Fan TUANON Passes Away at Young Age RIP
Mikie2times replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think people have an issue with Simms attitude more than what he said. In the first clip he said the guy trolled me on twitter and he really didn't need to interject that. The way he said it, he came off as still being annoyed and sort of indifferent that he was talking about somebody who recently died. Then he gave a smug look for the next 2 minutes as Florio explained why twitter trolls aren't all that bad. Simms was sort of like, ok, agree to disagree. Let's move on. I agree it was d-baggery on Simms part. He would have been much better just leaving the twitter comment out of it. The guy died and left a huge family behind. Who cares if he trolled you on twitter. That is my take, I get why people would say nothing burger, but bad taste to chose to say something negative about the recently diseased when you have the option to not say anything. -
Hey Muppy, it's the artist formerly known as KzooMike.....I arrived about a month ago. Does this area actually deal with fires? I always assumed it was further north.

He does some good stuff on YouTube. His live stuff is almost awkward.

Between him and Von, the next guy we sign will have no shoulders. It will be a T-Rex looking MF with arms out his torso.

Everything has changed. At one point in the not so distant past we had home games shipped to Toronto and a fan base that was petrified we could lose the team. Allen is a star. Bills Mafia gave us a brand that is easy for the NFL to sell. The loyal, dedicated, hometown/college like atmosphere. It's like they just decided that we deserved the same branding as the Packers. Which is basically what we have become in the eyes of the league. It's such a special time for those that have been around to experience being irrelevant. I can't say this enough and I won't even be able to take my own advice. Enjoy the times when they're good.

Why did Isaiah McKenzie fail as starting Slot WR?
Mikie2times replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't think he was a very good route runner. He had no clue how to set DB's up out of his breaks. He wasn't football smart. Didn't know when to just sit down on the route. He was basically very bad at the things Cole was very good at. He also didn't have the best hands. Perhaps that's why so many seemed hesitant to take him out of the gadget role. He is quick, athletic, and can create some issues depending on how you use him just not a starting slot. -
I don't support the move. I just don't think most people are qualified to not support it if we want to be rational. It's a fan board, obviously people will have a lot of takes on this. I didn't think Edmunds or Oliver were all that great, but I do feel limited when bringing in the context of a role in this system that I don't fully understand. Then moving parts that I don't fully understand. As much as I understand, Oliver and Edmunds had very little help making them look good. Oliver is going to get doubled with our DE's and our 1 tech DT and offensive lineman are going to erase our MLB for the same reasons. That much seems logical but I can't really draw much more past that.
-
I'm hesitant to evaluate DT's with stats and even in my worst critique I would never think a 1st round yet to be drafted player would be a replacement. Ed has worked out. To what level still remains to be seen. Any future draft pick has not accomplished that much.
-
It's not like Oliver has been bad. He was drafted high. People expected him to be John Randle. At the end of the day you don't know his true value and I don't really expect Beane to know that a year or two after you draft a guy. Apparently he liked him. At the least, liked him enough to get further into the contract and evaluate how he might compare to other replacements. it doesn't appear from his point of view that replacements compare all that favorably.
-
DT's and the names you read aren't just interchangeable in our system. Perhaps the Bills don't like what they see in the pipeline as far as 3 tech DT's. I will bet a shiny object either way that as a whole, this board and the common Bills fan has very little ability in determining what Ed Olivers impact is for this system and his league value. Not to say we can't make normal observations, but as was the case with Edmunds, it is very hard to leverage those observations against a system that we don't fully understand. I think we have to at least entertain the possibility we could be wrong in our evaluation, given what teams were willing to pay for Edmunds and in this instance, what I assume they would be willing to pay for Oliver. If I recall, we also hated Daboll which surely didn't age well. Let's see how it plays out. I will throw the pitch fork to the side for now.

That was one of my first thoughts. Maybe freeing up space for Hopkins?

I think it’s one cut, with an extremely talented drone flyer. I know a guy who can maneuver one like this. Hover the damn thing two feet from your face and take off like an air force pilot. Also does videos. He wears goggles with a camera so he’s basically in the drone with what he’s seeing. I thought this was great. Thanks for the share.

I wonder what it would have taken for his wish to come true. I don’t think it’s as simple as just saying erase 13 seconds. Hell, I don’t know if it’s as simple as erasing 13 seconds and Cincinnati. To get recognized at his age as a defensive coach you need to be as good as he was in the regular season and then dominate for a full postseason with a SB win. which in turn likely gets you labeled as a “guru”. I don’t think he would have ever got another HC offer unless that happened.

Speculation is his concern at this time is getting into the HOF. Which may or may not be believable, but given the way he gushed over BB's affirmation in Hard Knocks, I think he has some desire to make an impression beyond financials. If his goal truly is to get into the HOF he might not need a Super Bowl ring to do it, but it would surely help. I also think he would relish a chance to play against BB twice a year. I don't think it's ALL about the money. But some of it is. I really don't think either Buffalo or KC is presenting a deal that is very lucrative. Likely incentive laden. I don't think he likes that. Perhaps still shopping it against others. He has no reason to rush. -

Yup. I loved watching Toney and Pitts at Florida that year. What a fun offense. I knew Toney was legit. It didn't seem like he could get on the field with the Giants and the rumor was he was injured but the Giants felt he could play. Then he was a little bit made of glass in the stint with KC, although he did perform well at critical moments. In his career he's had 37 chances at starting, he ended up only starting 9 times. He was available to start 22 times. So even when he was available he started less than 50% of the time. He reminds me so much of Percy Harvin.
