  1. I thought he was the most likely bust of any QB in the draft. Watching him as a passer at Florida was hard. He can't throw from the pocket. His accuracy is poor. Decision making is poor. Having said this, I never thought much of Lamar in the NFL and still don't. To a much lesser degree Hurts. These are all guys in college that really depended on running, athleticism, and broken plays. Josh even depended on this cocktail to varying degrees in his career. Perhaps the game is changing to where some of these super athletic QB's can have success without being the best at reading defenses and hanging in the pocket. The game wasn't like that for the last 20+ years. That style was the "bust" style for all but a couple. I think Hurts, like Allen, is actually developing in a much more traditional way and I have changed my mind on him. Lamar not so much. I will leave the bust label on Richardson for now.
  2. Lets say we have a team that hasn't made the playoffs in 12 years. Has 7 consecutive losing seasons. Finished last in the division 6 out of 7 years including 3 straight. They end up signing a 39 year old QB who did not make the playoffs his previous season. Who has not made a Super Bowl in 12 years. Now you're free to talk about the roster. How Aaron Rogers is a former MVP. But if the Jets are as good as people think it would fall much more in the area of unlikely than if they aren't. Teams are not built on paper. You want free money? Take the Bills and the points Week 1

  4. I think we will see a Dodson on run downs and Rupp on passing downs. Rupp played some Linebacker for the Rams already. He was a piece that they moved around. The Bills are going to tackle this by committee. https://www.turfshowtimes.com/2023/1/24/23569606/los-angeles-rams-free-agents-taylor-rapp-linebacker-move
  5. Well, it's a game or sport to us. It's a business or company to them. They don't like certain offenses. Domestic violence against women and gambling. Avoid those things and you should be good.
  6. Fitting Marv has lived so long, he was arguably the best in NFL history in teaching resilience.
  7. I wonder if if a positional strike has any possibility.
  8. Good post OP. I’m curious why Brown declined so much last year. I understand he had some injury issues. Most here have basically written him off. But as I recall in his rookie year, he was the most physical lineman we had. Showed a mean streak and wanted to punish defenders. I had huge hopes for him. If a big driver last year was health, parlay that with never having decent guard play next to him, another year of development. If the first two resolve themselves, he could be a guy that surprises a lot of people this year.
  9. I liked him at Arizona State. I think Beane is about the best I have seen at always trying to upgrade his back ups.
  10. Agree, history doesn't consider circumstance just outcomes

  12. Does the conference even matter? I understand how dominant the SEC is but look at the players Mahomes=> Big 12 Allen=> Mountain West Burrow=> Big 10 to SEC Lawrence=> ACC Hurts=> Big 12 to SEC Herbert=> Pac 12 Jackson=> ACC If the SEC didn't pull in a couple Big 10 and Big12 transfers, they would be pulling a goose egg as far as NFL relevant QB's. Well, Prescott was all Miss. St. but you get the point. Conference seems to matter very little.
  13. I thought they moved forward with the ban, but it appears not....silly in my opinion. You can get 2-3 yards every time with that play. Probably in the spirit of the game given the games roots, but not the modern version. Not in the spirit of the game IMO.
  14. The Eagles had a historically easy schedule in 2022. I mean look at this thing. Then they end up with the 49ers in the NFC championships and they lose every QB on the roster. Hurts benefited from a lot of timing/RPO's. The Scrum QB sneak play. I mean how valuable would a guaranteed 1-2 yards every time you had to have it be? They can't do that this year. If he can do anything close this year I will be impressed. Sirianni did a great job building an offense around him that was basically perfect for what he could do. But give the league a year of tape. It's always that way. If he can duplicate his 22 campaign he deserves a lot of credit and is among the best in the league.
  15. He will still get open within 10 yards....Guarantee it.
  16. If you asked a Chiefs fan who do they fear. You think any chance exists they’re saying us? Doesn’t that say enough?
  17. I get that one confused with the Bills game in the opener the year before
  18. In Allen's 4 lowest rating playoff games we averaged 17.5 vs 23 for the Bengals. In Burrows top 3 games they averaged 24.3 while Allen averaged 36.6. The delta on the high vs low for the Bengals is -1.3 vs -19.1 How is this place so blinded by this? Allen is better against worse. Better when good. Far worse against better. Far worse when bad. The averages don't matter when you need to win 3-4 straight against the best. Who cares that you dropped 30+ on Miami and the Patriots?
  19. This pretty much. As much as they like to say Burrow couldn't do what Josh has done (I believe that to be the case). As much as they like to mock Burrow for his 1 TD and 200 yard playoff games. Josh is worse when he is bad. Far worse. Brett Favre only won one Super Bowl. If Josh is to become what many on this board want he needs to figure out a way to be more consistent. His lows can't be like the Bengals in 2022 or 2020 Chiefs playoff games. Otherwise his 2021 Patriots/Chiefs games really don't matter. In the playoffs it just takes one Favre like day and its done. Consistency is not Allen's friend and it never has been.
  20. Yup...what a sh!t show. Going down the AI loop.
  21. Allen has higher highs. Burrow has lower lows. Both have crap offensive lines. Burrow is better in the pocket as a pure thrower. Faster to his reads and more accurate. Allen is responsible for basically everything the offense produces. Assuming Allen would just do better as Bengals is just not the case. Just as Burrow would struggle to carry the weight Josh has to carry. Josh would struggle to be as consistent and methodical as Burrow is. They’re completely different players. At this point in his maturity I think Burrow is more in the mold of a Super Bowl QB than Josh. But that can also change pretty quickly if Josh takes a few steps (which he appeared to do until the end of 2022). Understood all the reasons why that could have occurred. We will see if they play out this year or not.
  22. Sorry, but Vince Lombardi isn't winning any Super Bowls with that New England roster. People are obsessed with trying to give either Brady or BB credit for the Dynasty. BB knew how to put his teams in the best positions to win games. Sometimes in doing so he would absolutely cross the line. His strength in coaching was attention to detail and managing egos. He might have been the best ego manager in the history on the NFL. Almost a 20 year run of winning or threatening to win the SB. Unheard of before or since. Now that Brady is gone, he is basically maxed out at a wild card. Take away Mahomes or Allen and you aren't going to see a much different outcome. You need good players to win. Great players to win it all. A coach is not going to be able to do it alone. Not close. That doesn't discredit him as an integral part of that run. If it was almost anybody else coaching that team it would have been about a 5 year run like most dynasty's. He is the reason it was 20 years. I'm going to go hang with my dad now Sincerely, Stevie
  23. They have Rogers at 45 and Herbert at 35. That tells me this has nothing to do with positional value. Clearly Josh is easily a Top 10 and likely Top 5/3 with positional value. They have to have Burrow and Hurts ahead of him. Obviously Mahomes as well. I won’t argue Burrow, but I would disagree Hurts has shown enough. Let’s see him do it again this year.
