  1. Ben Johnson and Brian Callahan are intriguing younger options. Eric Bieniemy is warming up.
  2. This is how I feel. People want to argue if he's a good or bad coach. Is Belichick really the best coach of all time? No. He's the best coach of all time at keeping a Super Bowl contender grounded and motivated. That's not his job anymore and it's not McD's job to turn around a bad team and establish a culture of winning. It's to win a Super Bowl. This doesn't invalidate what he did well here. He is a good coach. It's just time for us to move on.
  3. 12 Personnell is 2 WR's, 2 TE's and 1 RB For us it usually is this 2 WR's, 2 TE's, 1 RB = Diggs, Davis, Kinkaid, Knox + RB Historically we have been more 3 WR/1 TE 3 WR's, 1 TE, 1 RB= Diggs, Davis, Shakir, Kinkaid +RB
  4. I was beings serious. Remember Gilbride getting punched? Defensive coaches do not like up tempo offenses. I 100% think that is the reason we won't play fast.
  5. I really don't know what it would have been like if we played the most talented version of the Bengals defense the following week. Josh was out of his mind at the time. But Josh can look amazing and then completely lost and it happens quick. So to think he had 8 more quarters of amazing? I don't think you can say somebody is crazy for doubting that. In fact, gun to the head, hell no. Not even 2021 is he going 4 straight games without an implosion. We have never really seen that with him at that level of competition.
  6. You realize if the Bengals rolled 40 on my defense people would be blaming me. Slow it down!
  7. You build a system around turning my question into a yes. We at least trended toward that concept with Dabs. We are trending away from it now.
  8. You think Allen has shown he can hold it together for 4 straight games against playoff competition?
  9. Disagree. This offense has looked better as we have moved to more 3 WR sets with just Dalton. Knox returning will put an end to what we have been doing well if Dorsey is dumb enough to allow that. 12 personnel was just window dressing a finesse offense with a power formation. It didn't work and any stats you could reference are inconclusive at best. Sometimes I stand outside when it rains. It don't think it rains because I stand outside. 12 Personnel by game. NFL savant doe snot want to spit data out for the Bucs or Bengals. Bills Jets/ 48 times = 16 points Bills Raiders / 31 times = 38 points Bills Redskins / 24 times = 37 points Bills Dolphins / 18 times = 48 points Bills Jaguars / 18 times = 20 points Bills Giants / 4 times = 14 points Bills Patriots / 18 times = 25 points
  10. I mean, watch the routes he was running in New Orleans. Are we using him at all?
  11. Really? The offense has been healthy. The defense just added two critical starters and all these back up's will keep gaining more experience. My money is on the defense "righting" the ship.
  12. I think the defense will get it together. I like our additions. The depth will grow with experience. But we will still need to score 30 or more to do anything further. I'm honestly much less worried about the defense coming around after the Bengals game. We played physical after the first quarter. Burrow was limited. Certainly played well enough to win.
  13. It has played out time and time again. The greatest power of a QB is an ability to read a defense and get the ball out quickly, accurately, and consistently. While I feel Josh has unique skills and he is certainly much better than average, he does not do what I just said very well. Which will always be what prevents him from being in the class some people want to place him.
  14. Ya, not sold myself, but makes some sense. We are seeing teams do this late in games. The math gets pretty straight forward on doing this at the success rates of 2 point conversions.
  15. It's becoming common now. New analytics. I think the thought is the combined likelihood of getting one two point conversion in two tries, with the potential that it occurs first (which essentially wins the game) is better than the likelihood of winning while playing for the tie and OT.
  16. Did Beane consult with you before he did this? It doesn't seem like he did.
  17. It seems to me this offense performs best with 3 Wide and Kincaid split out. Shakir has been solid and has that agility and acceleration in short spaces that was similar to Cole. I don't know where Knox fits in anymore. I certainly hope Dorsey doesn't try and force this 12 personnel concept onto the offense when he gets healthy.
  18. It was a hypothetical. If we had 5 quarters.
  19. This is probably my favorite response in this thread. Are we that good at in game adjustments or are we that bad at pre game preparation?
  20. Sounds about right
  21. Do you think we would have won or not? Plenty of threads to air complaints in today. This is a simple question.
  22. We outscored the Bengals 11-10 after the 1st quarter. Defense found it's footing and offense seemed to do so in the 4th quarter. Honest question. I think it's likely. If nothing else, we would trade some blows.
  23. I hate that as well but understand why it happens
  24. I don't agree with the lack of work ethic. He's seeing ghosts right now and we don't have anybody that can explain why, next steps. Nobody to give him understanding or confidence. It's just not a good situation.
