  1. Because of Bates Cap hit. You can find a post from me last year saying we would cut both. Both had nice cap savings.
  2. Since we let a player walk he must not be as good as his replacement is not accurate. He got way more than Edwards on the open market. We didn't want to sign an aging center in cap hell. The line is likely going to be a strength as it was last year. If I was debating on why it is better this year I would focus on Torrence developing more not Edwards being + against Morse. That's just not accurate as of now. Perhaps Morse regresses more and Edwards does great. Maybe the line gels more. A lot of unknowns, regardless it's not overly significant if I think the OL and DL is a smidgen worse. Either group could go either way and we have other groups that are much more obvious for the sake of this conversation. Note if we aren't aligned on this, all good on my end.
  3. To start the year Morse is better than Edwards. He has more accolades, more years as a starter, more years as a high end starter. Why would the burden be on me to say Morse is better than Edwards when we barely know what the heck we are getting from Edwards? Floyd had 10.5 sacks last year, so I assume at some point in the year he was a factor. Just because its convenient to subtract that in your mind doesn't make it any less real.
  4. -Morse at C and McGovern at G is better than Edwards at G and McGovern at C. As I said, that could change. It was also a strength last year. -Floyd had 10.5 sacks last year. Who do we have that has gotten over 10 sacks? I'm hopeful Von and AJ will really deliver. Groot is also always in the mix for that big next step. It's certainly possible both these positions are better. At day 1 that isn't the case.
  5. Clearly Worse at LB, S, OL, WR Likely Worse at DL Clearly Better at TE Likely Better at RB Neutral at QB It's worse to start. Might not end that way.
  6. This is the best news I have gotten since 920pm PST
  7. 1. Josh is incredible and forces you to consider if he is the best in the NFL => Which will inevitably bring out haters 2. Josh has not won a Super Bowl => Which will inevitably bring out haters 3. Josh is not conventional => Which will inevitably bring out haters 4. Josh is turnover prone =>Which will inevitably bring out haters Josh hating is a ratings draw. It's a debate with a lot of angles. He gives the media both greatness and low hanging fruit to question that greatness and the media eats it up. They don't care about his rushing TD's (see #3 above)
  8. That must be why Josh won most underappreciated sac.
  9. I'm glad that child is wearing those uniforms. That doesn't make me feel old or anything.
  10. I get your point, but I think it's more complicated than that. The key is getting a high level talent like Lamb to play within a team as you're pointing out. Talent still matter a lot. Otherwise this whole thing would just be about building chemistry. Chemistry is not what allowed Chris Jones to plow into Allen last year and stop a TD catch from occurring. Paying a really talented guy a hell of a lot of money is what allowed that to happen.
  11. They must not have circadian rhythms
  12. Lamb is a top 5 WR and might even be higher than that. If you don't pay him, I don't know who you pay. Lamb isn't the reason they flop in the playoffs. That distinction is on Dak and McCarthy. Buffalo doesn't have hold outs like this because Beane likes to get ahead of these contracts and get extensions done well before the contract is going to expire. Which in some ways is good as the cap is always increasing which makes an earlier contract cheaper but in some ways it's bad because the extensions don't always work out. This has been most obvious with guys like Diggs and Bass, but has also been the case with several others based on injury. So while us casual fans haven't really had to gasp at an ungodly contract given out by Beane, we certainly have gasped at the dead cap hit we have which is linked to why we haven't had ungodly contracts. It's also about the talent of the players we have. We have no Lamb or Aiyuk on this team. We traded Diggs. Who would hold out on our current or even former rosters outside of Josh? We have no star talent on this team and haven't for most of Beane's tenure. If anything our lack of hold outs is probably more of symptom you would want to see on occasion like with Chris Jones last year.
  13. Some of these releases are just nasty.
  14. 100%. I usually don't care if those are the top three. Mahomes has to be one, then you can make a case for Burrow or Allen #2, just depends on the style you prefer. When people want to slip in Lamar into that group is when I have an issue with it. Even with his two MVP's he's just not at that level.
  15. Two first names, pass
  16. I do the West to East coast flight for a week every couple months. Been doing it for a couple years now. I can be dead ass tired and I won't sleep when I get to Eastern time. 1am at the earliest and even that's a stretch. I'm not 100% until 3-4 days into the trip. These aren't baseball players. It's not like they travel 80 times a year for most the year. They play 8-9 road games in a year. They aren't anymore adjusted for what to expect than I am. Then they have to play a game at what amounts to 10am. Except that's when the game starts, who knows what time they have to get up. Compare that to the home team. It certainly matters. The talent gap is just too small in the NFL. It would be interesting if this angle was even stronger earlier in the year. I could see logic to that as the traveling is new and they don't have any sense of rhythm yet.
  17. Zap his balls while this is happening. Not sure if it will do anything but it doesn't hurt.... Unless your his balls
  18. Front Page Sports Pro Football was a incredible game for the PC. Still the only game I recall having a play/formation designer. Graphics at the time were next level. NFL 2k5- Still has elements that we haven't seen nearly 20 years later. Sucks to have lost this franchise. NBA Jam- Ton of fun Mike Tyson Punch Out- See above
  19. Oh ya, we will be doing a few of those for sure. Any plans for PB this year?
  20. I just don't agree that the individual talent is strong. With what's left, I don't see a lot of guys starting for other teams. I see a massive rebuild if a new coach came in. I think we have the players on defense we wanted. Especially schematically, but that doesn't mean they're above average players. We have done a good job of drafting system guys. But we can obviously do this all night. It's a reasonable discussion. It's not like you're saying we played Mahomes well in the last playoff game...
  21. Ed Oliver is the best player in our front 7. Which is sort of laughable given the resources we have spent. Look at it another way. What if we bring in another 4-3 coach, how do we perform? Every piece we have is overfit for McD's defense. We switch coaches and we don't even have a top 20 defense with this roster. Why does it kind of work vs KC in regular season? Maybe they don't hit top gear until the playoffs. Which has been the case for many former championship teams. Nothing is going to fit why we regress so sharply perfectly across the board. But the concept being discussed here fits about as close as any I recall.
