Houston's offense is doing things the NFL is not ready for right now.

He had an interception

He’s made the team relevant again.

I view it as a pretty small fish tank where everything you do is hyper analyzed

I think Buffalo is one of the most rewarding places to play in the NFL and also one of the most difficult. I recall reporters asking Rodgers how he would fair with the New York media and he said Green Bay might not be a big market, but it has a really big spot light.

Is that Josh? 😂 -
Having a lane to a first down on a few plays a game is not what Allen was getting prior to 2023. Prior to 2023 on blitzes the entire pass rush would over pursue leaving the middle of the field wide open. The contain on the edges was non existent. Teams blitzed him and tried to sack him. It left big holes in the contain. He would get to the sideline and throw ropes to Davis doing the toe tap drill or players releasing downfield. None of this stuff is available to him like it once was.

Teams have been sinking into coverage since the half way point last year. Also hate to burst peoples bubble, but the running lanes aren’t there like they once were. Teams are rushing Josh with a ton of contain and he’s always got a spy. They don’t risk blitzes. How often do we still see him break toward the sideline and throw a rope? It never happens anymore. Teams won’t let him get to that spot. It was all day his first few seasons. This isn’t just about Josh being less aggressive running. It’s about how teams are defending him. All they want to do is make him a normal QB. Force him to drive the field. Take away his legs. Take away the deep shot. It’s been going on since the half way point last year.

There's only one thing that can save this season now...

Great play from that year. Also stunning that we haven’t seen it more often. It’s a great play design. Even more so with the sneaks nowadays. -
Denver would have let us run the ball all game. It was like a game of chicken. Teams know how to beat us. Just play coverage. We will self destruct if you make us drive the field. We will eventually go away from the run or underneath stuff. We might string together a drive, but we will go away from it. Brady needs to show this isn’t the case.

I never looked at McD as a dictator. More a control freak. While these types are typically very organized and efficient, they also tend to limit creativity of others and limit freedom of decisions. Which really anybody worth a salt wants as far as how they choose opportunities. Further, when threatened the usual response is to clamp down even further. Most of you have worked for a person like this. They typically run a very tight ship but don’t exactly promote growth in others and certainly don’t inspire others over the long term.

Some posters make decent points about Josh but this is a pretty interesting take. I don't feel the need to go over all this as it would be a waste of time so lets just talk Jets game. Bills are winning 13-6, Jets haven't mounted a TD threat all game. Bills are on the 50. Allen throws his 3rd Interception of the game. The Jets take that drive and score a TD. Next Drive Allen receives the snap at the 30 yards line. It hits him directly in the chest. He drops the snap. The Jets recover and kick a field goal to take the first lead of the game. 10 points directly off Allen turnovers with under 10 minutes to play facing Zach Wilson. We did force OT. I suppose he should get credit for that as you said. He went three and out and the Jets win on the punt return. This is just one of your examples. Allen directly cost us the game. Honestly I can't take your post serious. Is it serious?

This is my biggest issue with Josh and where I usually disconnect with other people when evaluating him. I see bad interceptions. Like not seeing the defender, throwing it right at him. We saw it back to back weeks. I certainly count those more than a deep shot attempt or a tipped ball.

It's passing stats only. It would look worse if it included rushing splits. It does include playoffs for both years as the samples are in that range of time. I stopped going backwards at 2021 but it could easily extend into 2020 if you want. It would only further solidify the sample size while showing the same thing. 22 games have been played since from Green Bay and plenty of analysis is out there including a lot by myself that covers Allen and his problems from Green Bay on. So it's not like it's some arbitrary cut off. People have been noticing regression post Green Bay since last year. He has 7 TD's in two games this year and 11 TD and 10 INT in the other 8. We are not a ball control team, we have no chance at winning when we are sitting at a 1 to 1 TD/INT ration which has been most of the year. He's currently on his longest INT streak of his career for consecutive games with a pic. He is not playing at a level that we saw in previous years. That doesn't mean he isn't capable of turning it around. It's where he is at right now and it was similar enough to the 2nd half of last season to logically connect them together.

Not going to be crappy towards your post but the Mahomes and Burrow suck as well posts fit right in with what I was saying. Nothing to see, Josh is the same, see this advanced stat, it says he's the best. Look at who you think the best is. They suck as well. Points are down. On and on it goes. Below does not take an advanced degree to understand. It's pretty black and white. Click the the image to enlarge

Advanced stats have become exhausting. I feel like I'm being gaslighted. Like I didn't see Josh throw an out pattern directly into the DB's hands as if he was a ghost two consecutive weeks. Like it doesn't matter that Josh uses his 9th inning closer fast ball on everything. Sure, they should catch it. But is a QB more likely to be successful and not have batted balls if he has touch? How does turnover worthy plays get impacted by that concept? Does Josh's turnover worthy plays that he ranked in the bottom half of football last year matter or does it just matter if the variance works against him? Do fans even have to understand the context of any of these statistics or just drop twitter posts and walk away? Point I'm trying to make is not that Josh sucks. Just stop trying to pull the nothing to see here routine. It's become insanely annoying. He is not playing well. If you have eyes you can see that pretty easily.

Would have been a miracle cover with that offense
-
Wow, I had Buffalo +7.5
-
I know this is going to come as a shocker to you so you might want to stand up. A QB can get rid of the ball faster than a defense can arrive. It's sort of like science or something.
-
Except the pressure was never going to get home because of the sequence of the plays. It had no element of surprise.

Ya, TBH, I really didn't like the article that much. I do however agree with it's conclusions. Is McD a control freak that has infected the freedom of our offense? It seems likely Has McD struggled to either hire qualified or get along/build with his assistant coaches? Unequivocally Has McD put players in the best position to win with his on down and clock management? Unequivocally no It stands to reason he is at serious risk of losing this team. He is paid to make decisions that work out in the teams best interests. Pointing out that things would be different if he did his job better? Sort of the point isn't it?
