No it just has to pass over the post.
The rule says: “The entire ball must pass through the vertical plane of the goal, which is the area above the crossbar and between the uprights or, if above the uprights, between their outside edges.”
The real question is, why did it take Daboll so long to figure it out? Does some of that blame fall on Allen? It seemed like the route running was shortened up in the 2nd half, or did the protection just get better?
I will have to watch this game again to try and figure out the difference....
