Gruden's destruction of the Raiders
Say When... replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
LOVE despair.com - demotivational posters, i will laugh till i cry at some of them; the 'retired' ones are pure gold. My past teams have bought me two that are hanging up in my office currently. -
That's because we lost 10 games last year; when you lose 2/3rds of the season you tend to focus on the D and make the assumption. also as @Stank_Nasty noted; throw in a couple of horrendous showings you really start to convince yourself. goes back to why we complain about the media bias; not watching the games, looking at the record and high level stats you could walk away with the notion but to those that watched the games, we had a poor showing on Offense and that can reflect on the D, especially if they are fighting O TO's and being on the field all day. not that I want to do it but would love to see a D breakdown, game by game, quarter by quarter and how it relates to the score. i bet we were quite stout in multiple/consecutive Q's in ALL games and most of the time in the 1st half.

Zeke 6 years $90 millionw/ $50 mil guarenteed

that was my point, you misunderstood me, i am in agreement with you. might have been a different generation but that fall-off was epic, it's burned in my memory but i'm sure there's other examples. -

Shaun Alexander says hi -
Thanks Hapless, i'm a little fuzzy on the PS scenario, never quite paid attention to it until Duke.
-
good point - must be something we're not seeing then; forgot about the waiver process before they hit the PS. he just needs to drop to our WW spot correct? he's not eligible for all 31 teams unless we're 32nd (which we're not)?

I really want him on the 53, maybe they were concerned about making it 'too easy' for him. just like a tiger, don't feed him for a few days; make him manageable and hungry and the memory will help him "stay in his lane".
-
he's in the perfect situation, contribute when he wants to but not necessarily married to the job. Kick the tires, see if you dig it/are good at it, then discuss details and determine if it's worth it making it a 100% commitment.

only one i give props to out of that bunch is Joe - that was a good move on the Jets' part to grab him. Gase and Greggggggg are in a competition for the most meme worth content

there is a distinct difference between fresh and game shape; hopefully they confuse the two and Bell blows his wad in the first half. there's running, blocking, cutting and getting hit; he's done none of that in over 600 days.

I have a condo in Key Largo, that's where we spend most of our time as it's cheaper than a hotel, but we'll head to Key West for a day and a half and chill at a hotel. we don't do it as often as we have in the past, usually was 2 weeks in the early summer and the Sept/Oct timeframe (my opinion is the best time for diving down here) 3 years ago i moved to Florida from Los Angeles and haven't looked back, right now i'm as far south as you can get with the entrance to the keys being a mile away from my home.

that's the best part! throw down an early dinner, go into an alcohol induced food coma and get a full nights sleep. if you're on vacation; rinse & repeat (chase that hangover!) if it's the end of a weekend; pop two aspirin and go to work when my buddies come down for a dive trip we always have a couple of days carved out for day drinking on the beach, then we shift to afternoon dive boats (in the keys the boat schedules are 9am and 1pm) and our dive profile is set depending on how hard we hit it the day before
-
i actually agree with this, no doubt i understand some "we improved" enthusiasm from either side but to think one is SO much better than the other (or headed straight to the playoffs) is homerism oozing from the glands. baby steps people. a losing record is a losing record and we both got em; it's the cream of the crap theory - we're just that much better than the other's that suck.
-
they should be 33rd told this to my buddy, who is a lifelong fins fan, and he spit his beer out all over the place, was a fricken mess BTW - great avatar; cracks me up everytime i see it.

THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - Let the Games Begin
Say When... replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
totally in agreement with this, very well said. IMO this is our 'cusp' year; next year the win expectations are realized and i think Beane is strategically moving down that path as well. Look at the "90mm next year what do we do with it?" thread, with the exceptions of a couple, we're pretty set for those "last couple of pieces" that we hopefully learn from this year. if we somehow bring it together this year than that's the icing... -
Just how important is Sundays game?
Say When... replied to Ramza86's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's a divisional game, that is always important It's a "winable" game; any team in the bottom 10-15 should be considered "winnable"; we're combined talent matched to a degree racking up "W's" where we should gives us cushion for those top 10 team games that tend to equate to losses i've not looked at our schedule and matched up to the current power standings but if you look at how many in the top 10 we play as highly likely losses, the middle 10 as 'winable' and the bottom 10(11) as highly likely Wins then you should have what we need to make a playoff run, this is one of those "highly Likely Wins" and a loss could have statistical implications as well as psychological. I get that the power rankings change as the season progresses but the 10x10x10(11) theory remains until we're consistently in the top 10ish and we haven't done that in 18 years. -
