McD is well-versed in the PR aspect to being a NFL HC and knows how to flip the narrative when he needs to.

It reminds me of what went down after the loss to Cleveland.  McD and staff were criticized for settling on a game-tying FG that Haushka missed.  The following Tuesday, the team made sure via Chris Brown that people heard McD's comment to the offense about playing fearless.

It was designed to push the problem off onto the players and away from the staff.  And it worked when fans ate that up with a fork and spoon.

McD doesn't say or do anything without intention.  But statements like this only go so far and are well short of what it takes to build a roster that can win in the post-season.  Something he's not been able to finish - yet.

So what team are you a fan of by the way? Asking for a friend...

    Wow.

This thread has turned into a crazy analytics argument.

    Some very simple facts:

    1) Josh Allen's upgraded OL still needs to improve because Allen was tied for having the least amount of pocket time in the NFL at 2.3 seconds per dropback. His legs keep him (and the team) alive, but our OL (particularly RG and G) needs to give him a clean pocket to throw from... because in general when he has a clean pocket, he's accurate.

    2) If all our WRs actually caught the balls the NFL tracked as drops (these are not passes that you can put on Allen) his completion percentage would be 65.5%.

    3) If you also discount Allen's spikes (these are counted as incomplete passes but obviously aren't and are typically good or at least neutral plays by the QB) his completion percentage would be 66.2%.

    4) If you also discount throwaways, for which Allen got a lot of heat for NOT doing in his rookie year,  his completion percentage would be 71.6%.

    5) If you want to keep spikes and throwaways and drops because all QBs have them, fine. What if we made his drop percentage equal to the WRs in Atlanta, who were the best in the NFL at not dropping the football? Now Allen's completion percentage is 64.9%.

Would that be considered "good" for our 2nd year still-raw QB?

    6) "Giving us the most surehanded WRs in the NFL is unfair!" you say... Fine, how about our WRs are as capable of catching as Lamar Jackson's were in Baltimore, who had the 7th lowest drop percentage in the NFL. If that were the case, Allen's completion percentage would be 62%.

Is that a promising improvement for him?

    7) Or what if we were just in the middle of the pack... like let's say our drop percentage was Washington Redskin level, instead. Okay, now his completion percentage is 60.7%.

Would those so critical of Allen here view that with optimistic eyes?

Surrounding Allen with talent is very simply the first and most obvious answer. It started last offseason but the OL clearly needs time to gel, Dawson Knox needs time with a jugs machine, and Allen needs another #1 WR.

And yes, Allen needs to work on his game this offseason.

But anyone who watched Allen this year and thought there wasn't some wildly promising improvement in his passing from his rookie year is also probably someone who doesn't think kittens are cute.

Some here have a profound inability to see and understand why and what occurs to create a stat. And that said stat is a small bit of what actually happened, damn good post by the way ?

    Go Bills!!!

  3. A good take by MP, I would not be surprised if they did what he mentioned sticking with Singletary, Yeldon, and Wade, of course this would presume that Wade is up to the task at hand. Doing so would make it easier to sign FAs or draft an additional WR etc, one less need. I do like that they absolutely prioritize the O & D lines, get those right and you have a fighting chance every game.

BB & SM do the coach and GM speak thing well, never committing to anything publicly ?

    Go Bills!!!

“Oh well, we know he was found not guilty by the court system and his peers but we don’t believe it, so...”

That’s not how it works. You can’t just decide you don’t believe something your court system decided and arbitrarily strip someone of all their accomplishments.

No it wouldn’t,  The court system so obviously failed,  Yes you can, because he is scum and any record of him ever having been alive should be expunged, starting with the birth certificate.

He is not even that good anymore. This is 2020, not 2013. The guy hasn't played a full season in forever.

I love the off season. Nothing more fun than pawing through all the "Oh, look, a name I recognize..." FA posts.

I think there should be a fine imposed on anyone who, between now and August 1st, uses any of the following phrases in a post:

    2. change of scenery

    3. lunch pail guy

    4. veteran leadership

    16. sneaky fast

    17. plays well in space

Feel free to add your own.

Does this one count, “ he was a raw talent coming out” or maybe anything to do with being precise vs accurate....

...the beginning of the 1990 offseason (after the first SB loss).  At that time we knew the team was outstanding and poised for continued success.

Now, of course the current version of the Bills has not accomplished anything close to that team, but my confidence level going forward is the highest it has been since that time.  Solid management in place, a really good HC who is universally respected, financial health (i.e., salary cap), a roster littered with young talent, and resources to improve even further.

I don't see how anyone could look at the Bills' organization and not say the arrow is clearly pointing up.  I don't even care about the mock drafts -- Beane & Co. have proven to me they know what they're looking for.  If a player doesn't make it, it won't be because Beane didn't do his homework.  This is a very comforting feeling to have.

I can't possibly be alone in this sentiment?

    You’re not,

but in the end we are all alone....
