Gase has never been particularly good, he rode the coat tails of generationally exceptional talent (P. Manning) pretending to have talent himself. When put in a position to grow QBs and teams without a generational talent at the QB position he has failed to do so with three consecutive teams, (Cutler, Chicago struggled and failed 23-26, Tannehill, Miami struggled and failed, 23-25, and Darnold, New York complete failure). Gase became moreso exposed as being bereft of the skill set required, with each of those teams. There is a saying in the NFL, “You are who your record says you are” ... Not for nuthin, but “you doth protest to much”...

A playoff win is not the goal, to say so is a bit of a red herring imo. A playoff win / AFCE crown is a logical “next step”. The end Goal has always been to win it all. One just needs to be aware enough to understand that the end goal is not always attainable, ie; the seventeen years of futility being an example of the end goal not being attainable... those that declare the team a failure for not reaching a certain goal, when it was likely never going to happen to begin with deservedly suffer a fool’s errand... I agree with the division and a playoff win, being the next logical step. Consider though, many things could go wrong that are not controllable by the team, that could derail the above, ie Covid, an injury to our QB etc, so the failure word could likely be over the top/jumping the shark as it were. If Lawrence does this it will benefit him greatly long term, it will cause some obvious embarrassment for the jets ownership, but it won’t cause any beneficial change, in that it’s the jets after all.

Concerning Belichick, What was his record in his fourth year as a head coach??? I hear ya, I get scolded for pointing this sort of thing out, lots of fans here who just love how the pats and Brady cheat all the time, birds of a feather I guess, at least KC and Mahomes haven’t gone done that road...but one would think that this being a Bills team forum these post wouldn’t happen so frequently... Being that all the teams are evaluated the same way it makes comparisons league wide equal, and as such valuable. 👍
