I chose #2, but won’t be heart broken if Webb takes his job, Webb is Barkley, but with a better arm by all accounts, Fromm..., is on permanent Covid duty for the foreseeable future, with the cap crunch I don’t think they bring in anyone who they have to pay more than what they pay Barkley, jmo...

Wasn’t this a given back in January? Yes it was...
Not much here that one can say is new news.
Beane has likely got his replacement ear marked, it’s what he does...
Go Bills!!!

It may be but if these players want more money than a team is willing to give they could be in a bit of trouble this is where the FO will have to pull out all the stops as far as playing the games they do with signing bonuses and all .
I wish all of the contracts were done on a performance based idea because a lot of teams like Seattle, the Saints are strapped with the big money the QB gets it's crazy .
Brady gave Tampa a restructured deal i guess so the team could keep better players & i wondered if Josh would be that guy for the Bills ?
I often wonder just how much is too much when it comes to pay for these guys then there are those that complain that it's not near enough money ???
A team hits the “to much” point when the QBs pay prevents the team from having enough other talent to win it all, it is really quite simple, some day teams will figure this out, maybe...

Who knows if wentz gets better but I bet my bottom dollar he is thrilled to get out of Philadelphia what a train wreck. Now a oline and a running back and a coach that knows him
Yup, Wentz is one of the happiest QBs in the league right now, all the pieces are in place for him to do well, time will tell if he can actually do it,

Darnold is on a rookie contract, where Wentz carries a 25M cap hit.
The compensation isnt based solely on perceived talent.
Even when considering the Gase factor, Sam at present is closer to being some other teams back up than being their starter, jmo.

Wentz must be incredibly happy,
by this standard Darnold is not fetching a first...

I know you are trying to act like T*m Br*dy but you need a better way of sliding money into Bills hands.
It does not server the owners to increase percentage of money going to players - like removing preseason games they will just want more. Need to burn leaches off.
Those leaches will be back as soon as revenue is back... that’s the life cycle of leaches... 😁
-
It will be 190,000,000. Minimum, it does not serve the owners/league to slow the gravy train, none of the owners are interested in a step back, jmo...

The NE defense was below average (27th in defensive DVOA) and they went 7-8 with him at QB. His PFF AV was 12, which is very solid. He had 10 picks to go along with 8 TD passes and 13 rushing and receiving TDs. He completed 66 percent of his passes. That is the very definition of a better than average backup, and he’d actually be a huge upgrade for the Bills (who aren’t going to sign him). What you want from a backup qb is a guy who can get you to 2-2 over a 4-game stretch when your starter separates a shoulder or pulls a hamstring. He can do that for you. Matt Barkley cannot.
There is a lot of hate for Newton on this board, and I can’t understand why. Is it the clothes? The interviews? If it is, all I have to say is who gives a crap about that stuff? He is by no means a good starting QB. But he is without a doubt a top 40 QB in the NFL still despite the shoulder injury that reduced from a well-above average QB (on a near-MVP pace in 2018 up to midseason that year) to what he is now.
Famous last words. We shall see.
I will take the chance that I’m wrong, but that team just does not have the draw like it did in past years.

If a brand name is on a stadium, and there’s nobody around to see it, does it make any sense ?
A valid point, but corporations spend hundreds of millions on stuff that turns out to be pure BS every year...

If Allen had been drafted ahead of the Bills spot, they would have taken Rosen and most of us on this board would have been happy. He was my number 2 after Allen but he was many people's first choice.
Also this franchise signed a guy that quit at halftime and started Peterman more than once.
Interesting take. I think guys chase money more than they care about winning. If the Patriots trade for Ryan or Garoppolo they will be in the mix for a WC spot next year. They had the most number of COVID opt-outs last year and they were still competitive in most games.
Garoppolo and Ryan are for the most part game managers, the pats have to have a top QB to draw top offense talent, that just how it’s is nowadays, and that is going to eat up a big chunk of their available funds, and consider a notable number of that vaunted D left before the opt outs happened, and who knows how much those guys who opted out want to give to a team that, face it, sucks right now. It’s hard to motivate when you know in your heart your team has little chance for success, just my take as if were...

How does a list of the top 50 free agents not project anyone signing with the Patriots? The Patriots have a TON of cap space and have a fairly strong record of impact signings over the course of the Belichick era: Gilmore, Revis, Rodney Harrison, Seau, Adalius Thomas, and Roosevelt Colvin (plus others like Shawn Springs).
$5 million for a better-than-average backup isn't that crazy at all. That's what Newton is at this point. He's more likely to win you a game than, say, Matt Barkley.
The patriots are no longer a destination team, no big time free agent wants to go to a rebuild team with no QB, no receivers etc etc. Belichicks reputation is not a draw anymore, that team is in a quandary with no fix in sight.

It seemed important to them to send Hopkins out of the AFC. And Watson won't agree to be traded to the Jets anyway.
Agree, no high level player with a brain wants to be part of the jets organization, especially a QB of Watson’s capacity. That and Watson is trying to get out of a terrible situation, why in gods name would he want to play for the jets, when he can get money playing with any team that wants him.

When you have teams that draft Rosen, think Tua is a franchise QB, and will fight for Wentz... Seems doable.
This made me laugh a little, it’s true though, no telling where or how priorities are arrived at...

McKenzie looked decent when given an opportunity, but he wasn't given much of an opportunity. Have to assume he was not trusted at some level, maybe not being on the same page with Josh or not trusting him with the ball. Like I thought it was interesting Hyde returned punts when Roberts got hurt. If McKenzie can't do that I have to lead toward us not really wanting to re-sign him.
As the season went on this was an example of player usage that could have been better, our HC, as good as he is, and he is darn good, is a bit stubborn when it comes to this sort of thing, ie; RBs all season long, and WRs during the post season... as well, game plan adjustments, he is a little stubborn on some points, and I don’t think that is particularly arguable.

Then trade down and get an extra pick. They need multiple front 7 defenders and a TE in the draft.
And no matter how much Beane says it, he drafts for need almost every time.
Yup, Beane said as much in interviews during last years draft, but that’s nothing new league wide though, the vast majority of all teams picks are what a given team considers BPA at a position of need, it’s totally subjective from team to team, strict BPA rarely happens, although the myth that it happens most of the time stubbornly persists.

Miami has signed their placekicker, Jason Sanders, to a $22M extension with $10M guaranteed. This is how a team with a lot of cap space goes to a team with not much cap space, without actually getting better.
Brilliant!!!
