For comparison (and perhaps mentioned already), when Heinz Field was built in Pittsburgh it was funded 61% by taxpayer dollars. Pegulas have no advantageous reason, except to calm down fans/media, to dispel very likely rumors to relocate. Chances aren't 0% that they relocate, but likely slim and as most said it's a business negotiation right now. First offer, 100% funded with talk of.relocating, why not? Both sides are going to put their own offers on the table, maybe State/County said something just as crazy through the negotiations. Football about to start, sit back relax and enjoy that. How do we know Edmunds assignment, other than when he's blitzing, on most plays? Is he in his zone and someone else screwed up? I know you and Gunner are 2 of the more educated/good posters, so not calling out your knowledge of the game. Everyone has an opinion. As other have noted, scheme plays a big role. Front four to LBs to secondary, there is a role for each and when one underperforms its translating elsewhere most of the time. If anything, teams haven't figured out Edmunds as much as they have figured out the defensive scheme and zone packages. That's my take. Mcdermotts defense puts less pressure on the Levi Wallaces and more on the plate of Tremaine and Milanos. Edmunds has more potential to unlock, I think that's part of the 5th yr option as well. I also think he gets a long term extension, beofre that 5th yr kicks in

Awesome! Watched both these guys play high school ball, then at Pitt too. Hard working, no nonsense guys. Narduzzi speaks very highly of both of them, and has good positional coaches working with them. Hamlin and Ford formed a very good safety duo. I think Hamlin is a future starter

Agree he won't replace Lee. But he could absolutley be used as an exta blocker on the end of line. I think primarily goalline and short yardage, and won't get my hopes up for any receptions. I think he will get acclimated, perhaps get used as a ST kick block (up the middle)

All about using FA to fill "needs", and the draft to find gems/develop young talent. Beanes philosophy, and we're always 1 play away from needing a quality backup OT to protect for Josh. So we need depth, and basically had Bobby Hart coming in. I'm also curious if the team plans to use one of these "trees", as an extra OL/blocking TE. Or on field goal blocks/ST. If these guys have verticals and already 6' 9", this could make interesting situations. That's likely a stretch, but bottom line we need depth at OT

Why? Diggs torn oblique, Davis sprained ankle, Beas broken leg...those are significant injuries to play thru. And after Smoke fought thru his injuries, his play just dropped off completely. We didn't get shut down by Indy. Bmore and Kc did shut us down, so agree there. But combination of injury and execution both games. Agree speed would be nice. But it's more about execution and finding ways to get our guys open. We have plenty of talent, but I agree another skill position player this draft, with a diff skill, ie quickness, speed, yac would be great.

Thanks Gunner, great assessment (as always)! Beane was asked during his presser last night/early this am, if they considered CB with either selection. Def hones in on your BPA mentality, as to why we went with who we did. But to me, speaks to what they think Dane/Levi can provide. Someone like Sherman could always be added, and perhaps that's the plan all along, but this wasn't like Rd 1 where we targeted BP at a certain position. Building the trenches, if we hit on these guys, will typically payoff. I like the vision/planning of having a potential future starting tackle ready to slot in, in 2022 or 2023. To finish the draft,will depend on who slides. But think WR has some depth, so someone likely in the 5th. Would really like if Rochelle is their in the 5th too, or maybe one of the DTs slide. TE will certainly be in play too

Get after the passer and this is a play out of the eagles.playbook when they went and beat the Pats, with a rotation of defensive lineman. We now need Oliver to bloom into our version of fletcher Cox. Ask an NFL Gm which postiiton is most difficult to find the "guy", and 32 out of 32 will say QB. 2nd position, edge/dl who will disrupt the passer. Not easy to find a premium guy, so why not double.dip especially especially when that is BPA

If Dwayne Eskridge is their for our 2nd round pick, I'd run the card in. Dude would fill Roberts return role, is a dynamic WR/playmaker in general, and has lights out speed (former track star in HS too). Plenty of tape to review, as he went the old school route of staying for the duration. I'd also like a CB, so it's a tough choice. But Eskrdige is a guy that can play the slot, or outside. He'd bring some speed and skillet that I'm sure Daboll would love.

No doubt Etienne is tough, and will be real good. But Motor and Moss can hold their own. Yes not talented as Etienne, but this is a passing offense and if we're adding more weapons would prefer its a WR or TE. Davis is going to keep growing, but this draft has a glutton of very good WRs again. Would hate to look back and say we regret not grabbing 1. Keep adding weapons to the WR/TE room, and speed in secondary/ability to disrupt the passer

Good catch on the Beane presser, and agree based on listening to that as well. I think we've set ourselves up for a great rotation this year, Epenesa's development is critical but same with rest of the guys doing their part and Greg hopefully making an impact early on. Interior, I'm still curious if they go after a Marvin Wilson type in round 2 or 3. There's question marks across that interior, Zimmer/Harrison I'd consider good depth, but absolutely could be improved upon. Oliver taking a step would be huge, and I think he will. Round 2 and 3, I'd be shocked if we didn't look hard at CB and WR. I think there's great value there, and would fit a need for us (wr is a sneaky need imo, with how often we run 4 wrs).

Asante Samuel Jr. CB will be a priority, and I think the top 4 are all gone by the time pick 30 rolls around. Maybe most have him as a 2nd rounder. But if Beane and Co like him, that's all that matters at 30 and get a potential 5th yr option on a premium position. If Samuel and top 4 CBs are gone by 30, then Zaven Collins is my pick.

Completely agree. Zaven is someone I can get behind, bc his skillset isn't the same as someone we already have (ie:JOK and Milano are similar players, be used similar in our scheme). Zaven would likely be utilized like Zo was, and would give us a lot more options with our defense. If he or one of the top 4 CB last until 30, it should be an easy pick

Usually people put their point as the thread title, lol but.ok. You decided to make 2 points I guess. Your "main" point is to mix up the defense and play more 4-3. By adding an undersized, athletic "LB" to an already athletic duo. Again, you are taking Taron Johnson off the field. So that must be how you think we improve, is to replace him right? I mean if I suggested we take a CB2, and someone says who comes off the field, it would be Wallace or Jackson, right? And that would be my point to improve that on that player being on the field. Nickel, 4-3, hybrid I could careless what ppl label this defense. Bottom line, last I checked 11 players are allowed on defense, so if you want JOK so badly then Taron comes off the field. I'm gonna disagree with you, when you think that improves our defense. Taron isn't the problem, I mean he only had a pick 6 in two pivotal games. It would be nice to have some depth behind him, but I'm not spending a 1st rounder to solve that. What would be nice? How about a CB2, outside corner, that we could trust to lock down his man. Or a def lineman, 1tech 3 tech or end, that could create some pressure/shut down the run. JOK is like buying a big screen for the living room, while the basement floods. Fix what we need to fix, and that's not a WLB

Again your solution is we need to upgrade over Taron Johnson effectively, that is who you have coming off the field. Don't agree that's worth our 1st rounder. You've been talking circles this entire thread. First that we should be finding our own Lavonte David, newsflash we have that already (Milano). Then that David is better than Edmunds in coverage, sure Davis is. Different positions, and again, Milano is darn good at coverage. Then that we need to.put a "new wrinkle" into our defense, by essentially taking a 2nd Matt Milano. Our defense has been very good under McDermott, up until Milano and Edmunds both fought through injuries this past season. Star opted out, and our DEs underperformed. Your solution is to find a 2nd Wlb, cool...but no thanks.

Need speed at Cb2. Not at the same position that Milano plays. Exact same position. JOK is not a nickle corner. And Taron might not be a superstar, but again "marginal" value is not drafting JOK. It's taking an impact CB2 or DL on defense. Honestly doesn't matter, very good chance JOK is drafted ahead of us. But cmon this talk about a big nickle is overhyped

Then why day effectively as Lavonte David? He wasn't the deciding factor. Bottom line was KCs oline was injured, and Bucs dline manhandled them. Again, David is a very good player but not why Kelce scored 0 tds or why "David effectively" covered him. If def line isn't the best player at 30, I'd look long and hard at a CB who can play man to man. Mcdermott and Frazier are prone to play zone coverages, but when we did try going to man in the 2nd half, we got absolutely torched by Hill. Need more speed in the secondary. Our LBs are fine, JOK maybe would have been the choice if Milano wasn't resigned. But this has been asked in other threads, who is coming off the field? Taron, Edmunds or Milano? JOk isn't giving us substantial, if much, "marginal" improvement over any of them

Haha exactly. The role this board has created as the must must need to compete with KC. A 3rd rounder, that would take whose 1/11th on the field? Taron, No. Milano, definitely not. For better or worse, we roll with a 4-2-5 nickle defense a large majority of the time. Best way to get better on defense is to improve the pass rush, and focus on finding a reliable CB2. Then offense, get some playmakers in a loaded WR draft.
